Capcom locks content so they make a quick £££!!!
Long story short:
Shuma-Gorath 100% already on disc
Jill 90% already On disc
Shadow Mode already on disc
Ryu, Chris, Dante, Captain America, Thor & Iron Man DLC already on disc
NON-ANNOUNCED DLC costumes: Wesker, Dr. Doom, and Dormammu already on disc.
Evidence: http://shoryuken.com/content/marvel-...a-gorath-3650/
Im sorry, but does this not SCREAM daylight robbery? I know shadow mode was free, but so it should be for what it is. Shuma should ATLEAST be free, and its unfair that we have to pay for something thats already been made and ON THE DISC when we purchase it.
Check the link, a hacker is playing with shuma!!!!

Old argument not valid, all stuff on the disk means is smaller downloads
dlc is here and developers will and do charge for content they would of given us for free in the past, still we also probably get stuff we would of never got either.
If you want to complain, complain about something fair, like the price or the quality of the dlc

I agree. We've heard the argument time and time again, and in the end it's not that big of a deal to me.
Think about it. If the DLC wasn't on the disc, they probably would have just kept it off the disc and sold it at the exact same price, and we'd have lost a little more HDD space.
I don't know, I just feel like we got our moneys' worth with the game, and I'm not going to raise a huge fuss over this. It happens with every Capcom game - Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, and will continue to happen. The only difference is that in future they might hold it off the disc and make us wait longer for the sake of "development"

Since you're paying for access to the data, there isn't really a dramatic difference between purposefully downloading it and it already being on the disc but with no formal access, it's still intellectual property that has to be paid for.
Yeah, it would be nice to get this stuff for free, and yeah its annoying when its been right on the disc the whole time, but it still boils down to choice at the end of the day, if you buy it, you choose to do so.
The way I figure it, not only is it a small download, everyone "has" it, so you can still use characters without being hindered when the other guy doesn't.

I cant beleive you two. Your SERIOUSLY ok with them charging for content, thats been made, and pt on to the disc? You cant be serious.
They have clearly stripped things from the game, that they thought that could sell as DLC, when in actual fact, its not Downloadable content. Its Content already on the disc to be unlocked.
You wouldnt like it if you bought a car and then they said, well heres the car, But you can buy some seats for it as extra. Maybe you want to buy a steering wheel for it aswell?
Making something, selling it and then producing content that was already made DURING THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS, should be regarded as content to be there FRM THE START.
I cant beleive you two find this ok? so what if its done with other games, IT SHOULDNT BE DONE WITH ANY.

The guys over at the Shoryuken site also do mention possible reasons as to why a lot of this stuff was not present in the game, Shuma Gorath because they couldnt reach an agreement with Marvel until the game had already been pressed, Jill because she was rushed and never completely finished, Doc Oc essentially is just shards of data at the moment and Frank West because he was started and never developed.
Im sure Capcom did their best to give us what they could on the disc but its clear to me that they really wanted a complete and polished product to ship and shipping with broken characters or unfinished ones was not an option. In the case of Shuma Gorath the game would have actually needed to be delayed and since Capcom made huge losses last year they do not want to be shipping products late.
As for the costumes, yeah okay that is hard to defend, cosmetic extras that where finished and required no completion work should have really shipped with the product and the only reason i can think of for this not happening is that they didnt have costumes ready for all of the available fighters. Maybe not a great reason, but i could see that at least being a reasonable excuse.
One last thing i feel i should point out is that this is not the first game to have on disc content sold to the customer, for fighting games we have Soul Calibur (Yoda and Vader), Blazblue CS (three on disc characters sold at a later time along with voice samples etc). We also have the Deadspace dlc, Ridge Racer dlc, Gears of War dlc, Naruto Shippuden dlc, the list is practically endless. I guess the business model for games is just changing and for everyone person that complains five others are buying the stuff. If it bothers enough people and no one buys the dlc then companies will stop doing it, however you are funding the company directly when you do pay and this helps them support the game longer.

erm, call me stupid, but isnt that also mostly for practical reasons, that the dlc is already on the disc. Like, when someone would play against you online, who's using Jill f.e. you also need her data, so you can see her model/moves/etc. no?
same with costumes, no? or how would that work, when someone downloads new content, which you dont have and you have to play them?

^ or, they could just let EVERYONE use Jill and Shuma right from the start, and use all the costumes right from the start, since they are on the disc.
...
