More classic characters to come?

I was just looking around at stuff about the game and it's roster, and apparently Niitsuma said that around a third of MvC's roster would be new characters as opposed to returning ones. However, looking at the currently announced characters, we have two more new characters than old ones (assuming Jill counts as an old character with her new design).

So do you think that they've simply rethought the roster, or do you think they've got more classic characters to announce than new ones?

I'm really hoping to see Megaman in some form, so I'm hoping this means he'll still be in. I'd be happy with a 50/50 split of old characters to new, but I'm not sure I like the idea of there actually being *more* new than old.

I'd also quite like to see Akuma and M. Bison return - while they're both SF reps, we're in much need of Capcom villains, and both me and my most regular fighting opponent use one of them often (I use Akuma, he favors Bison). I understand that Venom and Strider most likely won't be in, even though I'd love it.

Id put bets on Bison being in the game since Capcom only has one Super Villan (Wesker) at this point and Marvel has two (Dr Doom and Mageneto). Im not sure Megaman will make the retail disc but i reckon he will be dlc at some point, id be suprised if we dont see some of the more traditional fighters such as Akuma (there was a screenshot of him but it looks like it might be a fake) and Cyclops. It will be interesting to see what actually hits at launch and if there are any secret fighters hiding out that need special conditions to be unlocked.

I do hope that there are one or two secret unlockable characters - I remember hearing that there were disputes among the developers between some that preferred unlockables and others that preferred having everything available from the start. Personally one of my favourite things in MvC2 was unlocking everything, so I was disappointed when the XBLA/PSN versions removed it. I think it's nice to have one or two things to expand upon the game once you've played it for a while.

I guess I could deal with Megaman as DLC - but it just feels wrong if he weren't in the game altogether, there are plenty of other characters that feel less important to the roster. While I can forgive the loss of Captain Commando (while I do like him), it seems like Capcom's only classic mascot character in the game is now Ryu - and I can't see any reason he wouldn't be in for technical limitations, only out of choice.

We have to be patient on who will make it into the game. It would be interesting to see Dictator as the second Capcom villain, though.

I've heard rumours that charge characters are out for MvC3, due to them not fitting the game's fast-paced action, so I've got a feeling that Bison (Dictator) won't make it. I could be wrong, or they could give him different inputs, but I've got a feeling that will be the case :/

Capcom need to add characters like Juri (SSF4) Hsien-Ko, Demitri, Lilith, (Darkstalkers) and one character i do miss in the latest 2 vs games, Ken. Why is ken out of favour? i just dont get it.......but Juri and Hsien-ko should be priority!!!

In the context of MvC3, I'd hardly call them super villians as just about everyone has power beyond that of regular humans. Especially since Super Skrull's merely used to bunch the Fantastic Four's powers into one, to prevent having semi-useful characters. And it was my underingstanding that MODOK was a bit of a joke character as part of MvC3, a common tradition in fighting games including MvC.

The fact that Ken was not in the initial roster makes me think that we'll see more characters being announced before the game is released.
I don't see a Capcom VS game without Ken, and if they have to announce Ken they'll have to announce a Marvel character as well.

Thing with that is Capcom seem to be avoiding characters with similar movesets - as well as cutting down on Street Fighter characters to a degree.

Ryu is SF's biggest rep, Chun-Li is their biggest female rep, C Viper is the SFIV rep, and Akuma is SF's villain rep.

While thats already four characters, MvC2 had 12 characters and a lot of people complained that there were too many SF characters. I like Ken, but he doesn't really offer much that Ryu doesn't already. Obviously Akuma is also a shoto character, but he's a villain and also had a lot of demand.

Also, Tatsunoko vs Capcom didn't have Ken - just Ryu, Chun-Li and Alex. I think I'd rather see Alex as a SFIII rep if they add any more SF characters.

I know Niitsuma said that there would only be small updates for mvc3 now and that they will be announcing 2 characters each month before the release now, but i'm hoping on the week before the release they just surprise us all and announce 10 characters, would definitely be good to go out with a bang and announce some insane characters that would blow our fucking minds lol
