Official TGS Feedback thread
Hi all!
Now I know you've left a good bit of feedback about the Capcom Tokyo Game Show announcements in various threads. But I would like to give you this opportunity to let us know your more considered thoughts about the games, now that there has been more time to think about them.
So if you could give us your thoughts about the following it would be greatly appreciated:
Devil May Cry
Dead Ring 2: Case West
Asura’s Wrath
MegaMan Legends 3
Resident Evil Mercenaries
Comment on how many games as you like and for however long as you like. And remember this is your opportunity to be heard by Capcom!
Thanks!

Devil May Cry
I know everyone is going on about the hair but I don't really mind. After playing Enslaved I fully trust Ninja Theory with making this prequel something that fans will enjoy. It may be different but change isn't always bad. And we can't always be playing the same stuff all the time. Sometimes something different is just what is needed. Saying that I only started playing this series from the 4th game which I found really hard. But the visuals and all the crazy dialogue and bosses made it worth the effort. Now if Ninja Theory continues toe tradition of addins motion capturing to make this game as realistic as the last two titles then it sounds even more promising.
Dead Ring 2: Case West
Finished Dead Rising 2 three times and managed to save everyone on the third play through. All I can say is bring on Case West and any extra story details it brings with it! Looking forward to seeing what new psychos, items and wacky survivors will appear in this case.
Asura’s Wrath
Have no idea what is going on in this game but it looks cool. Will need more info and media to form an opinion.
MegaMan Legends 3
Another one that I don't know much about. I also never played much of the Megaman games beyond the main series. I have bought and played a few like Mega Man ZX and Mega Man Network 5 but that's about it. But seeing how fans are so happy about this sequel I will have to keep an eye out to see what it is all about.
Resident Evil Mercenaries
It sounds like a good idea but at the same time I can't help but think how it will be priced. With the right price it will be worth it but if it's not then I think many will feel that it hasn't got enough content to make it a full game. What I mean is that multiplayer tends to be something that goes along with a story mode. Don't get me wrong as Mercenaries is always fun with other people but as a stand alone game it will need more to make it worth buying at certain price ranges.
Steel Battalion Heavy Armour
An interesting concept but will need to see more as Kinect has been very dissapointing with all games I have played. As games like Harry Potter move the character automatically it will be interesting to see if the same will apply to moving the mechs in this game.
Oh also Super Street Fighter 4 3D edition = me getting a 3DS on launch day and I will save up money for it and wait like 7 hours in a midnight launch line for one!
Sorry for the rather long feedback guys!

DmC: So far a complete disappointment and truly one of THE games to be worried about. Tameem is by far one of the worst choice people to put on this game. His interviews so far have been pretty awful and i simply cannot agree with someone who did not find Bayonetta cool to then be making DMC when that very game took everything DMC had and added some quirky flair and them some. If Tameem fails to see this then I have very little hope for DmC. Not a fan of that guy at all.
Am I looking forward to it? Sure. Of course. It is DMC after all. I just don't think Ninja Theory will do a great job.
Due to the news about DmC the rest kind of had little to no impact or interest to me. Asura's Wrath looks interesting though! Interested to see how that'll turn out.

Devil May Cry
Probably the worst announcement of the show and easily one of the worst ideas Capcom's had this generation. Ninja Theory are not a studio that do gameplay well. They're the guys who do story stuff. That's their hat, it's where their emphasis is - the studio's creative direction is story first, gameplay second or third. Every product they've turned out has been mediocre, only really getting points for art direction and cinematics. Their games don't run well most of the time, either, because they're not a technically proficient studio - Enslaved has a ton of problems that aren't shared by other UE3 games (and some that are, in the case of the PS3 port). 20fps Devil May Cry from guys who couldn't get Heavenly Sword into the same league as God of War despite all of Sony's help? This thing is gonna tank and kill a healthy franchise, regardless of whether they fix that meth addict look Dante is wearing that PR insists is the only problem fans have.
I'd really rather it was killed or given to Platinum Games than Ninja Theory become a money sink for another publisher, to be honest. There's a reason Sony haven't iterated on Heavenly Sword.
Dead Ring 2: Case West
Platform exclusivity is slightly less stupid than Case Zero (it's not an effective sales tool if you've shut out 2/3s of your audience, guys), but still a really poor decision. But hey, Frank. Frank's a pretty cool guy. And Prologue/Epilogue downloadable content is a really good idea IMO. I hope there's more in future.
Asura’s Wrath
I am all over this. Looks nuts. Pleased to see the CyberConnect guys are getting to work on something that isn't Naruto.
MegaMan Legends 3
I have no investment in this franchise, but it seems people have been clamouring for it for a long time, so it's nice that it's happening and is in the hands of someone who'll ensure it's faithful to the franchise.
Resident Evil Mercenaries
Actually makes a ton of sense. Mercenaries scenarios are short and sweet, which suits handheld gaming perfectly. I don't know how well the online will work given how little we know about the 3DS, but it's a pretty good idea! Gotta wonder at how well it'll control, but there's time to work that stuff out.

Devil May Cry:
Bad move. Not so much the much the reboot but how it's being done and who's doing it. Also the Unreal Engine is probably the wrong engine to use.
Megaman Legends 3
Sounds great. Maybe it was announced too soon though as there was nothing else besides the announcement.
Asura's Warth:
Looks interesting but all we know about its the Unreal Engine. There wasn't much about gameplay as all we saw was a cinematic trailer.

Devil May Cry
Very disappointed that it was a reboot, I was hoping for a more DMC3 feel, Dante being an icon that the fans of the series depend on.
Still I can see a possible salvage point if throughout the game Dante matures and leads on to the Dante we loved in DMC3.
I don't really like that Dante smokes now and I think this redesign could probably have been done better, but in the interest of fairness I shall wait for more information.
Something I posted on another board somewhere
I've been waiting around for 2 years after Devil May cry 4 came out, waiting for a new Devil May Cry announcement that would return Dante to his true glory, no more Nero, no more fuss, just pure DMC3 style fun.
DmC is one of the worst announcements of the last year... new Dante is horribly designed, he is no longer fun, he is now a 'problem child' he smokes, he's quiet, he obviously gets into rough and 'dark' fist fights.
That is not Dante, and the whole key iconography of Devil May Cry is Dante and his self absorbed, care free attitude to everything, as well as his taste in clothes and music.
Ninja Theory has gone and buggered it all up... and changed the music... they've taken everything that made Devil May Cry the 'feel good' game it was and tried to make it serious.
Do we remember what happened the last time they tried to do that to a DMC game?
DMC2 happened. At the current rate this is going, DmC is going to fail just like DMC2 did. Then hopefully they won't can it because of Ninja Theorys huge failure, and we can get another DMC3.
Yeah I'm heavily against the change.
Dead Rising 2: Case West
If it follows the formula of Dead Rising 2 then I'm very excited, though I love the idea of fully story integrated co-op.
Big point there, co-op is a touchy thing, make Frank West able to fend for himself at the very least if he is AI controlled, if not invulnerable, it will be really annoying if people have to restart because of an AI ally.
Asura's Wrath
Not something that instantly appeals to me, do not really know enough about it so I don't have a complete comment yet.
MegaMan Legends 3
Have never played a MegaMan previously, however I am definitely going to be watching the development of this one and I'm excited to see it.
Resident Evil Mercenaries
I don't know much about this and I don't plan to buy a 3DS so I don't really have a comment.

Devil May Cry
Regardless of what anyone else says, the trailer looks really, really awesome. I'm not really too bothered about Dante's new look, since the game is meant to be a prequel and should explain how he's changed into the character we know. Of course, I haven't seen any actual gameplay, but I don't have any worries about this one.
MegaMan Legends 3
Wow, this one's really exciting. This is another game that I haven't seen any actual gameplay for, so I can't really tell how the game will feel like, but it's still very exciting. I like the way Capcom are using fan input... since this is a game that is hugely anticipated, it really needs to be what the fans want.
Resident Evil Mercenaries
I think it's great how there are two games in the series coming to Nintendo 3DS -- one with a horror theme, and one with an action theme. Based on Mercenaries modes from previous games, this one should be really fun. Since this is a standalone release, I'm expecting loads of content. A huge range of characters, lots of different areas to play in... Maybe even different character costumes and gameplay variations.
I'm very much looking forward to these three games and can't wait to play them! Hope my feedback is useful.

Devil May Cry - For a start, I really didn't expect a reboot. I originally signed up to these forums because Devil May Cry 1 was (and still is) one of my favourite games. Everything about it was spot on to me, and after a disappointing sequel (DMC2), DMC3 came along and stepped up the game again. I even liked DMC4 and loved Nero. It was a great game, but just lacked in comparison to the 1st and 3rd game.
Unfortunately, the problem I have with the new DmC is that the teaser trailer just doesn't feel like Devil May Cry to me. I pretty much hated everything I was seeing, and didn't even know that the guy with black hair was meant to be Dante. When I found out, naturally I felt letdown, and the whole entire trailer disheartened me.
I was over the moon when I heard a new DMC was announced, but after seeing that, I was pretty much put off entirely.
I hate his redesign, and dislike the fact he smokes, as it just doesn't feel like Dante. The hair is off too. I mean, I'm game for change, but this was too much of a change and more like a shock to the system.
As it stands, I've grown to like some aspects, such as his jacket and face, but his face doesn't work well with the current hairstyle, and actually looks completely different to that of the concept image, in game.
I'm hoping the new Dante won't feature on the game cover, and instead, the more traditional Dante we know and love will be featured. Maybe something like this would be more suitable, although this is heading back towards DMC3's Dante:

On top of this, the gameplay needs to run seamlessly and as much as Enslaved looks appealing, that also suffers from laggy smoke effects, and broken bits of lighting in certain areas. This is something I don't want to see.
Finally, I don't like the whole punk vibe going on. All previous DMC games had pretty much electro-rock music going on, and the brief bit of music in this was pretty atrocious. None of it felt like DMC.
Take DMC1 for example; It was dark, moody, and even had horror elements throughout the game. Yet, it feels completely different to what we've seen of the new game, and all of these elements which worked (almost) perfectly now feel completely different in the reboot.
I'm not going to refuse to buy it, but these are just things I would like to see changed, as I miss the more original feel to Devil May Cry. It'd be sad to see the series turn into just another button masher with generic, samey enemies.
I'd like to see a return of the jump cancels, have fights with bosses that actually feel awesome (and even chase/hunt you down through levels), and have the difficulty cranked up several notches (back to how it was in DMC1). I loved the fact that every enemy in DMC1 was powerful enough to kill you. It kept you on your toes!
All I can say is, I hope that our feedback can give you a better insight on where to go with the series, and maybe later down the line it'll feel more like a DMC game which hopefully many gamers will grow to love.
Plus, I'd quite like to see more footage of the game as more information becomes available. I felt like giving up, but that's not me, so I'll be looking forward to attending a first to play event (if I get an invite, as it's one of my favourite series of all time, and probably actually got me into the action game series, come to think about it), and seeing what else it has to offer.
Hopefully by that point it would have changed for the better.
Dead Ring 2: Case West - I'm not too worried about this because although it's exclusive to 360 and not PS3, I feel that I won't be missing out on too much, knowing that I've completed the main game.
Asura’s Wrath - I'm actually looking forward to this (I think), as it looks pretty comedic and actually seems to be quite interesting. I'm hoping it'll feel somewhat reminiscent of a Clover Studio game.
I can't comment on MegaMan Legends 3 or Resident Evil Mercenaries, as I don't know much about them, nor do I own a DS (but I do want a 3DS).
