1. Im new to SF and I was wondering if I will be schooled online because Im late to the party or could I pick it up easily enough?

2. Why is Ryu on the European version? Why isnt Chun Li on it or Cammy?

I prefer the US Chun Li box art than the EU and JPN versions rlly.

Despite Chun-Lis popularity Ryu has always been the series main icon and he always will be. It makes more sense for him to be on the box art really.

Street Fighter doesnt take too long to learn the majority of the moves but thats really down to you. Pro status has never appealed to me and would require much more experimentation.

Go through each of them and start maining whatever feels comfortable to you. Usually its Ryu or Ken. Some prefer Guile and so on. Learn a secondary or even a third character after (you wont get bored using the same guy at every battle with friends). Getting into it is easy. Very easy for SFIV, actually. Learning the intricacies of the system takes a lot of time, dedication and practice. Start with just getting familiar then get to know the characters basic moves then keep on going to learn things like frame advantages, properties etc.

I may add, any character can be mastered and played properly but be warned when you play online and choose Ryu or Ken people will call you a shoto scrub.......lol

Thats because they are shoto scrubs. (well.. ansatsuken, but we dont need to start that here).

First rule - dont pick Ken & Ryu! (& Gouki/Akuma is even worse)

Another question: analogue stick or d-pad?

I know the reaction will be noob! use a hori stick but Im just a beginner so Im not ready to invest in one.

Just ignore people calling you a scrub for picking Ryu or Ken. Theyre standard faces and good to use so why the hate? Use who youre comfortable with but obviously itll be lame if youre choosing some blatantly cheap boss type character (ie.Akuma in the original Super Turbo).

D-Pad. I have read some people preferring the analog stick but I honestly cant use it. Again, its what you feel comfortable with.
