Media help
Hello, today I got my first assignment for media.
The brief says I need to write something about my favourite media hero.
What is a media hero? I know we at Capcom Europe aren't the fountain of infinite knowledge but I'm stuck and to any media students past, present could you give me a few ideas?
I like music so I would write about my fav singer, but does that count as a media hero?
I like Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac's Swtich show and those are the only 2 I know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't/haven't taken media, but the answer would of course be Charlie Brooker.

Is he/she well known? I never heard of this person. What's his occupation?

He used to write for PC Zone(?), he wrote a column in The Guardian for a few years(a comedy-type piece criticising the TV schedule), he co-wrote some programs, he wrote, directed and produced Dead Set(that Big Brother zombie spin-off thing), he hosted and wrote Screenwipe and Newswipe(satirical comedy shows making fun of the TV schedule and the news respectively) and he hosted and wrote(?) You Have Been Watching(a rather recent quiz show on Channel 4 again about TV). He alwso had a satirical website called TV Go Home, and has released books compiling some of his columns, etc.
Otherwise no. None of my friends really have a clue who he is...
And and he's producing a one-off Gameswipe about video games.

Ah! So a writer could be a media hero? From what you're saying, writers for magazines could be appropriate.

It's a form of media. So yes.

Sure.
Elite, have you ever read letters from a timewaster? If you look on his site, you'll see a few other things (don't know if you mentioned peep show), but DEFINITELY get the book, it's possibly the funniest thing I've read.

I have. I was in stiches with laughter. Definitely not a book to read on the train
