Nothing happened to it. The capcom blog has the regular updates. Less information is being presented because SF4 is nearing its Arcade release. Just be patient!

Its still in development. They stopped updating us for a while since they had a lot on their plate. After all, they had to redraw the game again since they decided on a different approach instead. Its expected sometime in the summer.

Well done. Congratulations on being the worlds biggest dumbass.

For one, the whole gameplay has been tweaked and adjusted. If you read about it youd know - rather than making stupid assumptions that its identical to its original.

Second, you completely contradicted yourself. Its not that the game is simply being upscaled to HD. Everything has been redrawn to have a larger image and better quality visuals. The sprites in the SNES version look like crap to todays 2D fighter standards. Jagged, undetailed and some characters are stupidly overpowered.

The point in HD is to breathe fresh air into SF2...because its such a classic that its a smart move to update something that worked so well. Rather than porting it over and over and over to next gen - especially when next gen is HD.

Ill just list some changes for you:

-Fully re-drawn game (everything including health bars, backgrounds, effects etc). Take note the sprites are now different to what they were like a few months ago, hence the lack of updates since they had to go back to the drawing board. I prefer the previous look (minus the super beefed up muscles) but it still looks good.

-New soundtrack. No real details announced for this yet but the demand was enough to make them do it.

-A re-balanced mode where every character has now been fine tuned to all be competative. Originally certain characters just werent very competative whilst others were just way too good. This new mode balances everything a little better. This is no doubt going to be a huge dealio to high level players. In fact, high level players are approached to test the thing anyway!

-Simpler gameplay. This just makes it easier to play the game (in the new rebalanced mode). Some windows of opurtunity are better, input methods are better etc. An example would be Sagats Tiger Knee. It uses the more modern DP motion.

-Extra moves for re-balanced mode. An example being Ryus fake Hadouken.

-Online play worked from the ground up. Includes new options such as Quater Battle (kind of like playing at arcades. Paying, playing, watching whilst waiting for next turn).

For casual players it pretty much is the same game with a face-lift (you can play it old style too if you like). If youre playing the re-balanced mode then itll be a bit different but players who didnt go that deep into the original game probably wont recognise much difference except maybe slightly easier to play.

For fans (high level players or not) its exciting as its simply the best version of SFII with a spit shine. Its all those memories and emotions returning with a fresh new look and sound. Kind of like if Sonic was to be remade exactly but with updated tunes and looks.

If youre not interested that is totally up to you. However the game is highly anticipated and is one of the most ambitious projects for a download game. Heck, its an ambitious project for Capcom in general since its sprucing up an already brilliant, timeless game.

The only downside I see for this game is it might end up looking way too rough. There are no additional frames and from the preview videos its animation just isnt smooth enough (I actually think it looked better way back in its first HD-form videoed on a camera phone).

I believe that Capcom are doing a online BETA on XBL soon.
