Your questions answered – July 2009 Part 1
I hope rider movement on the bike is something you guys are looking into. The weight distribution on the bike is something that gets overlooked all the time, but its one of the most important things when cornering.
There is a new system introduced to the MotoGP series regarding ‘tucking in’ behind the visor that then separates the control from the rider movement. This will allow for more subtle rider weight transfer.
Will we see the return of GP tracks from previous games? ie. Suzuka, Phakisa and Sheridan
Perhaps… We can’t say more than this for the moment.
Will there be consequences to jostling with other riders?
What do you mean by ‘consequences’? If you mean falling off, we have crash limits set by the impact speed and tyre slip-ratio etc, which will dictate the outcome of collisions.
How many tracks are there?
In the boxed release, there will be the 17 tracks featured in this years MotoGP season.
Are the bikes going to pivot on the correct axis and not act like a hovercraft?
You’ll be very pleased to know that we have been tracking this discussion. From our initial experiments, it looks like the feeling isn’t created from the actual bike pivot point, but from the camera focus point. We are going to offer both views to hopefully satisfy all parties on this matter.
In the past few games, the sounds of the bike that you are riding have been drowned out by other bikes on the track Is this going to be addressed and maybe an audio set up made available so that you can taylor the various sounds in the game, not just music volume but all audio aspects?
We are working extremely hard to create authentic bike sounds. We expect to offer the ability to set the surrounding bike volume, although this is something we never considered until you guys pointed it out. We’ll get it into the schedule.
Will you guys be paying any kind of special attention to replicating the undulations and differing gradients of each of the individual tracks?
It’s very difficult to actually do as we don’t get to ride the bikes around the tracks (the bumps are very unperceivable unless you’re travelling at 200 mph). There is a discussion happening about new using new technology to actually map the tracks more accurately so watch this space.
