Default Your questions answered: Week 4 - Part 2

Here we go with part 2 of our MotoGP Q&A session for June 2009...

I'm curious about the menu setup option, is there going to be global access? By that I mean will I be able to go back to the main menu from any menu? It's a pain to have to sit through loading screens for 2 or 3 menus when you simply want to exit a mode and do something else.

We say: Our entire F.E. will fit into memory. You will not load between different sections of the menus. Also, there will be in-game sub-menus to allow the player to set-up the bike, practice, qualify and race without any loading.

Will the game have mandatory weather options? Will you be able to select the weather option in ALL modes?

We say: The arcade and career modes will both have set weather conditions that reflect those seen in the corresponding GP season. Practice / Multiplayer will have custom weather options.

Will we have an option to have the on bike perspective based on the camera located on the rider’s helmet?

We say: We are currently reviewing the camera system and want to make changes like these. It’ll be very interesting to hear your comments on this subject.

Game AI. Is it going to be bound by the same set of rules as the players are? By that I mean respond to contact and off track excursions in the same manner.

We say: The AI will drive on the same physics as the player.

Are there going to be any blurring effects? If so will there be an option to turn them off?

We say: The simple answer to this is yes. We are also looking into the options which are offered to the player.

Application of Rider Aids. Will these turn novices into Gods or simply make the game more manageable for them to come to grips with?

We say: Application aids will make the game more manageable.

Replay options: Will replays be able to be saved and shared. Additionally will they have an option to display data (lap times, split times, telemetry, settings, etc?

We say: You cannot save or share replay data in this version. There are memory restrictions on ‘game clips’ for both the PS3 and X-Box leaderboards and they are being used up by ghost data.

Sim and Arcade modes: There are fans of both modes so will the game include both modes, but clearly different in order to please both kinds of fans?

We say: The ‘sim’ level will relate to the chosen class. The 800cc giving a more realistic and difficult experience. Our ethos is that we want three distinctive fun handling models for the 125cc, 250cc and 800cc bikes. We want each model to be fun, but they will all come from the “same world”. The 800cc bikes will be closer to simulation experience than say the ‘twitchier’ 125’s. Our opinion is when the community is divided over which bike class is the best, we’ll know we’ve done our jobs right. What we don’t want to happen is 125’s and 250’s disappear in obscurity once players have got their hands on 800cc bikes! We will offer some announcements relating to game modes further down the line.

So let me get this straight?! Le Mans and Mugello?(so far) will be restricted to rain only? Im sorry but I find this is nonesense!! Just because the game is called 09/10 does not mean that it has to be bound to the weather seen in real life 09 moto gp races. Wet races are fun dont get me wrong but dry races are more exciting. Would be cool if Monumental can put in an option to select the weather.

If it always rained, every day at Le Mans and Mugello then it would make sense and be more realistic to have permanent rainy weather conditions on these tracks. However, I gather that is does occasionally stop raining there and they've even seen the sun once. I'll double check with the development team, but I'm fairly sure that although you'll be more likely to see wet conditions at these tracks, it won't be constantly bad weather.
