Will someone from CAPCOM please tell me why there is NO start option after I choose my charactor to play the supposed single player campaign???

I can not play the game without a bloody start...

I do all that but there is NO start option after I select a charactor. It says press 'A' to select a charactor which I do but there is NOWHERE to select START!!

cant find a single player option in the UK...

cant find a single player option in the UK version, it seems to force you to hook up with someone else to co-op or multiplay...

In the UK version of the game how do you start a single player game? I cant work it out, I get to the bit where it asks me to select a charactor which I did but then.... no option to get the game...
