Game's critics say Asura's Wrath is one to watch (http://kotaku.com/5886949/game-crtitics-think-asuras-wrath-is-definitely-one-to-watch)

In Asura's Wrath developer CyberConnect2 aimed to create a game that played like Japanese animation. Judging by the early reviews, someone forgot to tell them that you don't actively play Japanese animation.

Protect Heaven and Earth from the forces of the Gohma and what do you get? Your wife dead, your daughter kidnapped, and yourself framed for the murder of the Emperor. It's enough to make a guy go on a cosmic-sized rampage. Evil folks need to stop kidnapping loved ones. Just kill them. It breaks the spirit, and fives sidekicks a chance to calm heroes down with the old "It won't bring them back" speech.

Or give them fairly average review scores, as the assembled game reviewers have here. So far not one of them has gotten torn apart by a vengeful former Guardian General.

There's more after the link, snippets of the various reviews. I have to say, I am actually greatly intrigued by this game.

That really does look so epic.

I'm not normally into these sorts of games, I mean I couldn't get on with God of War and I've always had a hard time with games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta (love them, but not a "hardcore" fan of the style), but this really does look badass.

I like how, recently, a lot of developers of these sorts of games have started to include some truly enormous enemies...it certainly conveys a sense of power...

Well, what with me being unemployed, all games purchases have to be well after the fact for me.

But yeah, I'll definitely be saving for this one if I can't get it any other way.

And yeah, I always feel alone in not liking God of War...so many other people love it, but I just never got along with it...

Interesting reviews.

The game itself is definitely different. I actually laughed though at how little gameplay is in epidode 2.

Episodic presentation is pretty good so far. Only down side for the little I've played is I don't think this game was made with Japanese voices first. The dubbing there is really off, intentionally or not. Might have to switch to English for this.

Edit: Definitely a short game. Not even sure it totalled more than 5 hours but it's enjoyable. It all sort of fits together nicely. For what it does, it does well. Could've been a digital only title with it's episodic presentation, though (pricing over the span of episodes would've likely been the same as original RRP, anyway).

I wonder the what the DLC content will be like. Should be interesting.

Also, some of the music is pretty good. Yasah's theme in particular is pretty awesome.

Anyway, I know another additional character for any VS game now...Asura plus Gene would be SICK!
