Capcom is pulling this crp a lot with their fighting games.
Every time a F-game from capcom comes out, You can be absolutly sure that an updatet edition will be relleased in less than a year at a discounted price, and it'll have tons of characters and modes that normally should have been in the first release (see MvC3).
I don't have such with GOTY editions that simply include the DLC on disk (I hate DLCs so I apreciate the oportunity), mostly because I know they are unplanned, and the original game wasn't left on purpose incomplete, just to resell it to us later.

They might say that "They have no plans currently for a super edition", but I can't get my self to believe them, for the same reason I never beleaved Sony's UMD passport for the Vita.
It's just a lie to get people preorder their products, just for them to come later and say "ups!... You have to buy our games again now!":bash:

This feel like the wrong forum to post this, as I expect the people who come here to be the ones most expecting this game, but I decided to do it anyway.

I agree with you. But you know what? We all know that´s going to happen even if they say it will not. But the point is that I really can´t wait for another 6 - 9 month.

One thing is for sure - I´m not going to support any DLC of that game (okay, except for Jun Kazama) because this time I think, they will put all the DLC stuff on the new disc (if there will be a disc).

If CAPCOM announce a new version that is worth it to buy I´m going to sell the Vanilla version of it.

So I did with Marvel vs Capcom 3 but never bought an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 because I was too mad.

Let´s see what happen. I respect those who can wait (I wish I could do the same) but on the other side - I do have the new experience now...

Why are you doing this to us Cap?

later ;)

Well things should work out differently with Street Fighter x Tekken because Ono has said that there'd be no disc-based updates for Street Fighter X Tekken.

“If we decide to create a new version of the game, we will go with the Street Fighter IV series route, by providing online update patches for the game,” Ono said. “So I would say that you don’t really need to worry about a new version of the game coming out. “If we choose to update the game, it will be done in the same fashion as Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.”

First of all I have to say that the poll is flawed, it should have been a simple Yes, No or Unsure. The way that you have presented the poll options is such that you are being very manipulative of how people's opinions are being represented, that will not win you any cookies.

I agree with Fonix in that Ono explained that updates will be available via DLC dispelling any myth (which also seems to be the generic troll response of choice at the moment, along with the rants about Megaman) that there is going to be subsequent releases (although I wouldn't knock the opportunity to get an updated disc for discounted price like we got with AE).

I have the game on pre-order because I have been able to try the game and I am a fan of both franchises, therefore it's a no-brainer for me (although no dream team of Gouken and Lilli for me :( ).

I am buying it on day one and I'm fine if they release another version later.

I bought Street Fighter 2 on the SNES and later bought Super, and to this day feel that Super was as different to the original as SF3 was to Super 2.
It's similar with SFIV, and the way they're treating SF x T feels much more like these than the games they give lazier updates to.

Then again, once this comes out I'd imagine the build up to Tekken x Street Fighter will begin, so unless the update will promote that title somehow I'd guess there's a less chance of a "super" edition than other titles.

Personally I don't hate the super editions, as much as I hate the DLC concept in general. We've already payed a full 60$ price for the game, and then we get charged 1/6th of the price for content that doesn't represent 1/50th of the game, yet somehow that content ends up being the most important, like the true ending in a strory driven game, or an exctra mode in an absolutly bare bones game, or our favorite character that was originally supposed to be IN the original game.

SINCE WHEN SELLING A GAME IN PIECES HAS BECOME THE NORM?!
What annoys me the most is that people are happy about it!

I apreciate GOTY and complete editions that come out so the can include all the later DLCs on the disk for the offline players (and I naturally hate oppening such a box to find the content in redeem codes), But I can't stand when these thing are planned, and the game is designed to be missing key futures, characters and story events, just so the can sell them seperatelly. I won't get fooled again like I did when I bought MvC3 on launch (that game had nothing in it)!

SxT better have more than just a lame arcade and bare bones online in it!

As I'm not really excited about this game I won't buy it at the release. I wait til the game gets cheaper or the Super Version is released, since I don't see a reason why I should buy a game if I can be 90% sure Capcom will pull of this super stupid intake-extra-version stuff. I don't like Capcoms work with new versions of a game. I know, you don't have to buy it and bla. but if they release a game, they should better wait with the release a half year instead of releasing a new version. And this "balancing and new content" excuse is suer stupid for me. If you release a game, release it as a complete game. in the case of Street Fighter 4 I thought it's ok, because you could buy the Arcade-Edition and the Super Version was really different. But in the case of MvC3 I thought it was super ****. I also think capcom sells its DLC for a faaaaar to high price. So, for this game, I'll wait for the next version or a cheaper price.

This. What annoys me about the "as DLC Ultimate MVC3 would have costed a lot more" is that if we used that logic the original version would have cost 36x$5=$180 just for the characters alone. So are we really getting a few dozen characters for way, way cheap or are the $5 characters just way overpriced? I'm guessing the latter.

Anyways what I'm doing with SFxT, UMVC3 and many other titles is to wait and wait until it's been atleast a year. At that point I get the game dirt cheap anyway with sales that don't benefit Capcom much. It's unlikely there's a new version after that point and if there is doesn't matter much.

Oh, and I also really hope Namco doesn't implement this same system. It starts to seem even moreso with SCV that Namco might be going the same way.

Even if they would, SCV would still feel more like a more finished and complete. Also, the DLC prices of Namco always were fair compared to Capcoms "CashLC"

annoyedfan

Sure, but to be frank I wouldn't care if DLC costed $100 a piece as long as it feels like extra.

Thing is UMVC3 is supposed to be an updated version, but it is so minor I honestly hope there will be a 3rd version. Add atleast 5 popular A-listers to both sides and more importantly atleast 2-3 modes as well as a dozen actually new stages. People say UMVC3 is what MVC3 was supposed to be, but I just don't get that, IMO there's much more to do just to make the game on-par with SC, SF, DOA, MK...

The problem is: They are selling us this "tries" to create a good MvC3 and we can't even add updates as DLC.

For better or worse, I'm right!
It appears that at least 12 new characters are in the works to be sold after the game's release. (http://www.complex.com/video-games/2012/02/street-fighter-x-tekken-vita-will-include-12-extra-characters-due-this-fall)

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I'M BUYING THIS GAME AT LAUNCH!
I'll wait for the super/updated edition that will inevidably reach the PS3 some time soon or later.

You haven't proven anything here so you are not right! These characters will be delivered via an update and no new disc will be needed. This is not the first time this has been mentioned in this thread, which part of this statement are you struggling to understand? :noidea:

TheWolf

So, they are coming as DLC. Maybe. But the chances that there will be a new disc version is at least as high as the DLC (which will be over-expensive, btw). WOuld fit Cashcom if they would do both things
Sooooo ... Does it makes any difference if there is another disc version or a DLC which is just as expensive?

As said by the GT review of the game (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-hd-street-fighter/727581), there are gems only available through DLC and preorders.

Thank you capcom!
My Hype almost got the beter of me...

Capcom have been very careful with their wording. Last I read, they said there will be no 2nd release that you need to have, which doesn't actually deny a second release with everything unlocked, only that any release will be completely optional.
In short, they never actually denied a complete edition could come, just skirted it instead focusing on a version that renders the original obsolete.

Personally, I'm still fine with it, I just won't buy the DLC until the disc version comes out.

I officialy saw the game on a store and resisted it.

As I've chosen in my poll, I won't buy the game untill some months have passed. Then I'll buy it without paying full price for content that I don't have access to, or I might wait for the complete edition to come out!

I dont feel like i can even vote in the poll, all of the choices are "yeah im choosing this but i hate everything about this game" kind of choices, a simple Yes, No and then some alternatives would have been better.

Honestly, if they release a new version of the game next year with a much larger roster and some new modes, sure id bite. Id actually prefer a new disc based game to constant stream of expensive dlc, but it depends really what you get with the dlc packs, and what the other companies are charging for their own stuff. Arc chage an absolute fortune for the smallest additions to their games where as Namco tend to charge way cheaper for larger additions.
