Heh, collecting guides doesn't constitute as you automatically requiring one to play a game. At the end of the day, it's merchandise, thus valid inclusions in collections. They also serve for enjoyable reading.
As are demos and DLC as they too are merchandise/promotional material. ;]

A guide automatically makes said person a not so real player? Since when? I own a bunch of guides for random games so I guess I must be a sucky player. Ever considered people collect them? Heck, I've got a bunch of guides I've bought that just sit on my shelf simply because I wanted them in my collection. That makes me a lesser player, huh?
Emulated games do not count. They do not count at all in any real collection unless they are official products released such as Sega's multiple Genesis releases or Capcom's Classics collection. A downloaded demo off PSN or Live, I wouldn't really count either but I can see why they would be (some may exclude if it has no real physical form). Also, an art "book" that's packaged with the game shouldn't count as a seperate entity. It's part of a bundle.

Ryu, the DMC4 Original Soundtrack is going for around £19+ directly from Amazon UK. A bargain if I've ever seen one where soundtracks are concerned, and definitely worth the purchase. :]
Speaking of the Trinity of Fate book, are you knowledgeable on where the best place to get it from is? I'm thinking of Play-Asia but not so keen on importing (despite it being the only way).
As for bundled art booklets not counting as seperate merchandise, I disagree entirely, due to their function and purpose serving a completely different role, more than valid in constituting as a standalone item.

Play-Asia sold out of it a long time ago. I got it from there when they did have it though.
Check eBay. Usually otaku.com sell it on there. Otherwise try Yahoo Auction Japan but you need to use something like Shopping Mall Japan as your middleman.
I tend to avoid Amazon entirely when it comes to soundtracks and certain books. Especially Marketplace sellers. Can't guarantee I'm getting the real deal. Besides, I've been a long time fan of Play-Asia. I'm passing up on importing as much as I can for now since I need the money for Japan. May as well just buy the stuff there. Only importing super important things like Yui's new single. Go Yui! And maybe Gyakuten Kenji Limited Edition.
Yeah, a bundled item has seperate functions but it's part of a package. I personally don't single them out. It's like me splitting up everything in say, a DJ Max bundle. I got the game, postcards, soundtrack, phone strap, screen whipe etc etc. It's a bundle in the end. Seperate uses yes, but for me it generally counts as one item. Different people will count or ignore various things though.
Emulated game being, an unofficial product (game only, doujinshi etc count) that I won't get too deep in to. From what you describe, yeah then that counts.

When he says "Emulated", I think he means he is using a PC emulator to play a legal disc (He says it has a manual, not many illegal copies go that far) or quite possibly the emulator on the PS3, Emulators are perfectly legal, its the files they run which are often illegal, but most can play legitimate discs.
