A while (Possibly a year) ago there was a writing competition on this forum and the first prize place was a Limited Edition Dead Rising 2 faceplate for the Xbox 360, I entered a piece of work called Codename: H.U.N.K and won first prize, and I never got around to sharing the piece of work on the forum.
It offers a bit of insight into H.U.N.K and a completely fictional backstory that I created in my head in about...Five minutes. It then goes onto his mission recovering the G-Virus sample from William Birkin.
So here it is, and apologies in advance for the triple/quadruple posts to follow
Our story begins with a normal man, just like you or I, sitting on a bus as it arrives into Rockford Island Military Training Facility, the year is 1996, and as our protagonist sits next to a fellow private on the bus, the private suddenly turns to him and says "are you worried?" our protagonist does not turn to look at the private, and replies simply with "Fear is a state of mind, one which I do not have". as the bus is then cleared to enter the military training facility our protagonist seems quite eager to get off the bus, as it is obviously cramped with lots of "green" privates eagerly awaiting their chance to show their superiors what they are made of. As the bus stops our protagonist is one of the first few to get off the bus, he is immediately ushered toward a pedestal with the rest of the crowd in order to be addressed by somebody, as quite a large man walks onto the pedestal wearing an officers uniform, he begins to address the crowd by saying "Privates! welcome to Rockfort Island, during your stay here you will learn about Bio-Organic Weapons, what they are, and what they do, in the future many of you will be tasked in destroying B.O.W's, some of you may not, we shall see". As this officer walked off the pedestal the group of privates were split into groups and were immediately ushered into a barracks, once our protagonist got into the barracks his eyes immediately clatched onto the top bunk bed to his immediate right, he threw his bag on top of it in order to claim it as his own, as he began to unzip the bag another officer entered the barracks and began to address the now smaller group of privates. The officer began to address the group by saying "Welcome ladies, to your barracks, this is where you will sleep, and while you are in these barracks that is ALL you will be doing, no funny business will be tolerated here." A private began to laugh at the officer. In return the officer marched up to him and yelled "WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE PRIVATE!" The private zipped shut immediately as his face immediately turned into a face of fear, the officer then backed off and began to address the group again as usual, "You will sleep at twenty-two hundred hours, and will wake at oh-five-hundred hours. there are no exceptions and failure to be out of bed by no later than oh-five-hundred hours will result in harsh disciplinary action, You begin your training tomorrow, for now you are dismissed." as the officer marched out of the room, the privates were left to themselves, as the privates gathered they started talking, one of the privates went on to say "My name is Peter Harvey, whats yours?" as he pointed at another Private this private responded "Cassius Johnson." as the room then went into a name changing session, it went from person to person sharing their name, but when it came to our protagonist he seemed to ignore them when they asked, as he instead jumped onto his bunk and lay there, not paying any attention to the other privates as they moved on leaving him out.
As the next day came they awoke as supposed to at 0500 hours, the same officer as yesterday came into the barracks and made sure the privates beds were neatly made, as he then told them to change into their military outfits, he gave them five minutes to do so, as our protagonist was the first one ready he stood in front of the officer, standing to attention as the other privates then began to form a line on him all standing at attention, as the officer took the front of the line he marched them outside, he then stopped the line and turned to address them. he began to say "My name is Commandant John Thompson, I am in the head of the island, you are lucky to have me being the one training you all, as I will turn every single one of you into a machine and you will be the greatest soldiers this planet has ever seen." as the Commandant then turned and began marching the line over to the obstacle course. Once he reached the obstacle course he stopped and sent the Privates in threes onto the obstacle course, our protagonist was one of the first three to be ushered onto it, as he ran to the first part of the obstacle course it required climbing a wall using a rope that was tied to the top of the wall, as he had no problem keeping a tight grip onto this rope, he scaled the wall fairly easily, and scaled down the wall again fairly faster than the other two privates, the Commandant looked on in relative happiness, our protagonist then came to the second part of the obstacle which was a crawling and climbing exercise, as he ducked and began crawling under the obstacle until he reached a point where he was required to climb on top of it, he did this leading the other two privates by quite a bit, as by the time he finished this obstacle they were just starting it, he then came to a large trench in which he had to jump over, he began to sprint as he cleared this obstacle fairly easily, and running into a sprint finish to end the obstacle course, as the Commandant marched over to him, he congratulated him and said "Private! that was a record time for this obstacle course! you should be mighty proud of yourself Private!" as our protagonist offered a simple salute and a "Yes Sir!" the Commandant pointed to the back of the line. A few hours past as they constantly repeated the obstacle course, lunch time came around as they were pointed to the direction of the mess hall as a bell signalling lunch time began to ring, our protagonist marched to the mess hall, grabbed a tray and waited in line, as he got the food counter finally he was given some sort of "slop" as a form of soup, it was white and gooey, as he sighed he accepted it and moved off toward a table and began to eat.
As the day drew to a close it was a hard day of training, once he arrived back in his barracks it was 2000 hours, giving him just two hours of free time before sleep, he used this time to read a book he had brought with him, as he then went to sleep,
2 years of a gruelling training regime at the hands of Commandant had transformed our protagonist into a machine-soldier, capable of performing most military tasks, and escape alive.
It was then that our protagonist was chosen by his Commandant to join a two-man Alpha team, in a mission involving several USS Teams, the mission at hand was to break into The Raccoon City Underground Research Facility and steal the G-Virus from Head Umbrella Researcher William Birkin. it was here that our protagonist was given his Codename: HUNK, which would stick with him for years to come. as the two-man Alpha team finally cornered Birkin in his laboratory. HUNK attempted to reason with him, but Birkin was in no mood to surrender his whole lifes work as Birkin held his loaded handgun in his hand, he came to a realisation that he was no match to the two agents, as he slowly backed away he knocked over a cup and the other soldier shot several rounds into his stomach. Hunk then began to berate his teammate, as he could have easily damaged the G-Virus Sample while firing. as they took the case containing the G-Virus as well as some samples of the T-Virus they left his office, leaving Birkin to die. however Birkin had another plan for his fate, as he then injected himself with a sample of the G-Virus shortly before his death, he was then revived as a monstrosity as this monster then left the workstation in order to confront its killers. as HUNK and his team mate we're cornered, they busted out all of their magazines on the monster before HUNK realising that his death was possibly imminent, drew his Army Knife and went in for Close quarters combat, as Birkin simply slapped him with his large claw of a hand, Hunk was swooped away into a wall and knocked unconscious. As Birkin turned his attention to the other Soldier, by pure luck Birkin assuming HUNK was dead, left him, as HUNK awoke eight days later, realising what Birkin had done, he immediately realised the open case of G-Virus and T-Virus Samples were crushed all over the floor, leaving only one sample unharmed, he immediately shut and locked the case and took it with him as he used his radio to talk to the helicopter pilot in order to get a rescue underway, he began saying into the radio "This is HUNK, I need a pickup, over." as the pilot responded, "We thought you were dead." HUNK immediately responded with "I'll get to the roof of the police station and set off a flare, thats your que to land, over."
as HUNK then began to make his way through what was now a desolate and zombie-infested Raccoon City. He immediately encountered hostilities with quite a large group of zombies as soon as he left the sewers, as he came to a realisation he only had a limited amount of ammunition he ran from the group, heading as fast as he could to the police station, on his way he heard a distress call from Goblin 6 asking for help, as she screamed to HUNK for help he replied with "This is war...survival is your own responsibility" he left Goblin 6 to her fate as he moved onward toward the police station, by the time he reached it he had used up all his ammunition in his H&K MP5, so he drew a simple 9mm handgun and moved on into the police station, as he made his way toward the first second room to the left in the main hall, he attempted to open the door but noticed it was locked, he then began to go around another way, as he was battling a superior force of zombies at nearly every turn, as he finally made it to the roof, he drew his flare gun and shot into the air, signalling the helicopter pilot to land, the screams of Goblin 6 still screaming down the radio as she was now being eaten alive by a group of the Undead. He simply turned off his radio to avoid listening to it, he boarded the helicopter and took off his mask, sighing in relief as he had accomplished his mission and gathered a sample of the G-virus, as the helicopter took off, he took out a piece of tofu from one of his pockets, and bit into it.

Hope you enjoyed reading it as I did making it. Opinions or pointing out of plot holes/creation of a time paradox etc etc are all welcome.
Thanks for reading!
