March 9th! thats the day. capcom have confirmed through the american blog that we will see the release on march 9th 2012.

there is also details of the SE (which lets face it, we'll probably be getting), some new character teasers and the gem power up system

check it out here (http://www.capcom-unity.com/street_fighter/blog/2011/10/14/street_fighter_x_tekken_release_date,_gem_system,_ and_special_edition_revealed)

I'm not so sure about the gem system idea. does giving you the ability to power up you character risk unbalancing the game? i suppose only time will tell

I don't really like the GEM system because i think that will be the risk of unbalancing too much the matches. Anyway, that could be a good way to introduce new players into the world of fighting games (i think you all have played SF with a friends who hasn't played it a lot before, and i don't think he even won a single match), so it could be a good idea.
I'm pretty sure that GEMs won't be used in tournaments, and that's fine.

That SE looks cool, even if i don't really care about those DLCs, but that mini arcade is really really nice! A CD with the themes of the characters would have been better, but i can't complain, that's pretty good.

It depends what the stipulations are for equipping gems and what they do. if it like the power boost you get at critical level in tekken 6 it shouldn't make a massive difference to the balancing.

It does seem, with pandora, gem and bring a friend modes etc, that this game is leaning towards the gimmiky. the number of obscure capcom characters (poison, hugo etc) suggests hat this game may turn out to be little more than a novelty.

That being said, tatsunoko vs capcom gathered a very obscure capcom cast, and could have had a gimmiky control system, and that turned out to be great. which ever way the game goes, i'm certain it will be great fun.
