This is one for XBox users as I gather the Dual shock is not too bad. However the XBox pad is ok for casual play but totally random for serious combo action (and not to mention the hard trials) Can anyone using a stick (Madcatz or Hori etc...) tell me if there is a significant difference in the ability to pull off ultras, supers and cancels? Also any general feedback would be appreciated as I feel I may finally have to take a trip to the stupid corner and pay over the odds for a stick :fear::help:
Stick is the way to go. I started with a xbox pad and boy, that made me to seriously think about arcade stick. You know already I did it myself. Performance wise is that combos, super and ultras are easy to pull off. Especially charged attacks (eg. Chun-Li, Bison) are more precise and easier. Working trough trials that's mostly still is skill :) but still stick is very usefull. For me is akward to use triggers ans shoulders buttons while fighting, where with stick buttons are in front of you, so your brain don't think too much which finger to use to do LK+MK+HK and focus more on game, where button layout is encoded to your brain and you are using all hand to control buttons (no finger assigment to the button). Saying all that you can be still mega crap at game :) (there is a reason why i choosen "Legendary Looser" as a title on Xbox Live).
I encoruage you to maybe do it yourself if you think you can manage. If not i can help :P just send me a message. Over all it will cost much cheaper than overpirced madcatz one.

Cheers Braqoon I have just taken the plunge and ordered a Mad Catz Tournament stick, got a good deal on 2.
Hopefully it will help and thank you for your offer to help build one, wish I had seen that before yesterday  You should get a little production line running and get them on Ebay :D
Personally, I still dig my Xbox controllers.
The only downside is, that as a charge character player, the casual controller's analog doesn't allow for charging while knocked down, to do a flash kick wake-up par example.
But, I know it, and I make that sacrifice, in order to be able to play without the endless "racking" of the controller, like it's the case with most of the sticks I've seen at the local tournaments.
It kinda reminds me of the higher levels of guitar hero, where you can hear the clicking of the custom controller pretty loud and clear. <_<'

That's my plan  Just need to be sure that's nothing wrong with them. My is a test one, and MK2 will be a nicer looking. Still looking on the parts side (push buttons, sticks), wan't them keep cheap as possible but in good quality (some peoples want's Japan joysticks - apparently the best ones, but i'm not a geek here so hoping for non geek crowd).

Just my two-cents worth..
I have a TE stick for PS3 and there is no way i'll ever buy a stick again. That thing is a beast and a seriously worth while investment for anyone who takes Street Fighter seriously.

I have just received my MadCatz fightstick:cool:, gonna take some getting used to but you can already tell it is far more precise and quicker, just got to go through the pain of losing loads now whilst I get used to it  Bye bye XBox pad
Now I ordered 2 of these and the other will be up for sale soon, (probably Ebay) however if anyone in the UK is interested drop me a note and perhaps I can help you out.

What is it a TE or a SE, i hope your not going to be one of those horrible people who take advantage of the shortage and sell for double the rrp?

It is the SE (the white one) I paid about £135 each including P&P so the same is good for me. They came from the US, what is the RRP anyway?
wow, i appreciate you would of had to pay shipping duty and parcel forces charge but you got ripped off man, rrp is £69.99 for the SE, £149.99 for the TE, you can probably get £100 for one on ebay until they come back in stock in retail stores but i doubt very highly you will get £135 not to mention how unethical it would be to charge that for one.
If you want some help swapping out your parts for better quality send me a pm and ill help you out, dont worry no charge im all for helping people out.
Also if you decide to leave it stock bare in mind there is a fault with the sticks where a washer rubs against the common ground circuit board and breaks the connection. If you experience this dont panic it can be fixed easily by removeing the common ground pcb and soldering directly to the switches.

Cheers JDK appreciate your help and I will come back to you on the upgrade parts. I appreciate your point on the cost of the sticks but these were genuinely the cheapest I could find on Ebay at the time. I just checked with the seller and he has agreed to refund some of the postage which was very kind, because I ordered 2. In essence the postage for each was $55 which adds a fair chunk to the cost. It's a rip off but this guy was no where near as bad as some others (plus it came from Virginia, USA in 4 days!!). I have just checked out Ebay and most of SE sticks are still going for above what I paid and the TE sticks are just crazy
However supply and demand is how it is and I fully acknowledge I have payed over the odds :( But I am lucky I could afford it I guess. It still amazes me that big companies still underestimate demand so much, it's a little like the Wii Fit scenario, a shortage is understandable but an all out lack of hardware is far from ideal.
