i know many people will complain,.. but this is not a remake thread,.. this is a thread for those who miss playing around in racoon city. i dont care if its RE4/5 gameplay style, or REmake one... i just want to be able to play again in racoon city without it being a on-rail experience. being able to explore the entire city or parts of it, and to cross areas from previous games...

perhaps they could work on another outbreak episode. or remake RE 2 and 3, or just enable the outbreak servers, and or patch REOutbreak for a next gen full online comptibility with extra textures...

or maybe a sand box game of many parts of he city, where you get to play real time characters trying to escape the city. being able to use co-op full time. like waking up with a character somewhere in the city, and needing to find the way out. on the way you may or not find other characters/players, that if they like to or not may come and follow you and help you. of course the bigger the congregations get, the harder to escape it is. so the player will have to choose whether to follow the load of people and attract as many enemies as possible or just to travel in small groups or pairs so avoid big enemie hordes...

i forgot... one good idea would be while passing throu a place to activate RE2 or RE3 characters passing by or running like carlos, sherry, ada, or many others right before or after they finished their lines in the original games... fr example. finding jill knocked out in the chapell and not being able to wake her up. or ada in the lab. seing carlos playing from far or even getting some help from him. encountering birkin as a an enemy somewhere. getting hunted down but the police department shief. or seeing the explotion of the gas station from the roof of a building and even jill running away from it while being followed by the T nemesis. of course that only being posible from far so you wouldnt be able to mess up with the RE3 storyline.

Making another Outbreak would be great, and I like your idea of being able to witness events from the previous games from a distance (but taking no part in them, so not affecting the events of the games themselves).

I have always thought that the Outbreak games are perfectly suited for the PS3 and 360 at the moment, as they are built with Online in mind, and the PS3 and 360 offer the best Online experiences outside of PC gaming at the moment.

However, when it comes to remaking RE2 and RE3, or porting Outbreak File 1&2, I still say no. No point and no need.

Yet again I agree with you.

i agree too... theres no need to remake when they could bring new games...

i would even go for games that feature characters from RE2 and RE3 even outbreak all around. (still not affecting the events of the games themselves)... perhaps playing in one side of the city next to the police station and being able to witness the zombie attack, and later meet sherry on the back streets running away from birkin. meeting anette birkin, or even ada while she still investigates her way to bertolucci.

but most important sand box online experience with real time co op and a non lineal gameplay...!

I'd like a next-gen Outbreak where you play the role of the scientists (ie John etc) during the mansion breakout. Ada too.

There's definately merit in these ideas; certainly from a design standpoint Raccoon City would be perfect for a next gen zombie game, thanks to the wealth of locations that the designers have created with the Second, third and outbreak titles- many of them linked together.

I've always thought a game where you play as an RCPD member just before the Outbreak, or perhaps a trainee STARS member being transferred as a replacement to those that were lost in RE1 maybe beginning a week perhaps before the Outbreak- you'd have to start the game by taking a tutorial (Perhaps an assessment course before you join up with the unit proper) and learning the gameplay style, and then the game would begin- normal town, normal job, character interaction- atmosphere, the fear of the unknown (Because remember, the characters wouldn't know about this yet.) and of course, a slow build up into the actual Outbreak, and then eventually, after having been out in the field; the eventual attack on the police station- and maybe playing out the events of that attack as described in the letters in RE2.

It's definately do-able, and could be an extremely high standard game if sufficient time was invested in it. It wouldn't require as much design work, as the police station by and large is done already, however it'd require a rock solid combat system, perhaps a refined version of RE4's system with a move/shoot mechanic necessitated by the high numbers of enemies that'll be attacking at any one time. That's if they wanted an interim singleplayer game of course.

Alternatively, they could go the Metal Gear On-line route of things and make another Outbreak title; focus the game on it's online componant, really pour things into the development of an on-line centered title- and instead of making the game with future add-ons and such IN MIND, just focus on making the game solid from retail, and then build on it after everything is rock solid. They could even go the episodic delivery method, delivering 2 levels per download, and releasing each level pack in monthly increments, to allow greater time to work on bugs and such.

I think there's easily the userbase on 360 or PS3 or both to run this sort of game- it's wether Capcom could do it without breaking the experience (REOB1s lack of Multiplayer in Europe- destroyed any hope for us that it'd be any good.) or without mis-marketing the title (OB2; it just sort-of 'appeared' without any fanfare.) that would see it through or through.

If the next mainline RE game isn't for another 4-8 years, they're going to need to throw us some sort of bone as consumers, fans and potential customers- what better to do then than to make a new and compelling experience off the radar from the main series. If it fails? It was never meant to be- if it succeeds, Capcom might just have another option to cater to both the fans and the people who bought RE5 just because it was new.

There's an opportunity there- would Capcom seize it- in my experience no.....but we'll see, there's always a chance.

i doubt capcom will invest in it... they seem to be interested only in cheap storylines and lineal gameplay.

my point would be... if ever they manage to recreate the entire (or just most of it) racoon city,.. what would stop them from releasing RE2 and RE3 as rewards campaigns?... definitely a good idea.

Remaking RE2 and RE3 may be a bit too much, unless it's in the gameplay style of RE4 and RE5 and with a lot of new stuff like when they remade RE1 for the Gamecube. :)

A new Outbreak would be fun indeed, as I never got to play Outbreak 1 and 2 online :(

Raccoon City rocks anyway :D

I like that idea

It was something I suggested on the last forum. playing as a scientist at the start of the outbreak but many people said it would go against what resi was as you was playing one of the bad guys, but one way around it is playing a scientist who starts to have doubts about the research so they purposelly start the outbreak so they can get data so they could stop the BOW research.

hey nocturnal.. not a bad idea... but then he outbreak would be centered in RE0 RE1 mansions and not in the city...

my question would be... if PS3 can hold so much info... how comes they dont use an over pixelated version of REO... it should be possible... specially seeing that PS3 is a megaconsole compared to ps2 in many ways... it shuld run smoother, and contain much more info. it could come in one blue ray disc, or in 2 360dvds... just like they did before with GC.

Very few developers are actually using the full potential of Blu-Ray at the moment, as far as I'm aware.

I'm starting to wish they would though...atleast with unlockable content. I was hoping to see some stunning extra's in games with the PS3, but have only encountered the usual.

The problem is that xbox is limited to the DVD, and game developers don't seem to be very fond of releasing more content to a platform unless they receive a lot of money for that. Besides, the PS3 is still hard to program, so I can imagine that they are still unable to unleash the power of it... Maybe when the PS4 is out they can use it at 100% :D

Yeah, everyone keeps saying that RE2 gets a REmake, but from what I heard is that these were just rumours. Has this been confirmed yet and would it be like a port with better graphics or a total remake with the new gameplay and stuff? I think I would buy it in both cases though.

Its been shown in the games that the mansion training facility and the city labs are all linked somehow. So it wouldn't be too hard for someone who knows where the transports are to escape from the mansion and end up in the city labs (after all we've not seen all of the labs in game yet)

I just would like a remake of RE2 or/and RE3 or a port of RE1 remake for ps3

RE 1 is ported like too many times, RE 2 too though. RE 3 on the other hand...
