View Full Version : Rumor: New PSP out before Christmas!!
Great news from Pocket Gamer, who say we can expect the new PSP before Christmas! http://kotaku.com/5201591/new-psp-due-before-christmas
Finnally a psp upgrade worth shelling out for, the last one (the amazing 3000) was basically a slim and lite with the home button replaced with the playstation logo button...
but this, is beautiful!! just look at those monster hunter images, is that a hint that we may see Monster Hunter Frontier Portable after all?? Well seeing as those are not new images it would be best to not asume too much but as a MH fan i definantly hope so!

I remember seeing this picture quite a while back, would be nice if that was the actual product
I'm pretty sure those are unofficial mockups.
Lol, I've seen those images popping up in other gamesites. The so rumored PSP2.
Honestly, if that really ends up as the final design for it, it's an instant upgrade for me. Just because it looks pretty good.
If thats the real deal then i will definately be buying it. It looks great, although i do think it might be difficult to use the anologue sticks, the way they are positioned right at the bottom.
You can bet it will be expensive as well.
Im not convinced by it, having seen those PS3 waffle iron designs and all.
Looking good. I hope it's not fan-made pictures. :)

The control layout is shockingly awful on that mock-up. I'd be cringing from all the sharp edges digging in to my hands, as well as trying to scrunch them up in order to get to the right buttons.
The idea of that design is OK but the control setup would need serious work.
I had already seem those pictures, not very convincing IMHO
It looks more real than those fake ps3 and 360's that people mocked up, not saying it is real but certainly look alright to me.
seeing as how the "source" says it has a sliding screen and dual joysticks so its either that or something very similair
Anyway, these pictures looks very good!

Flash Memory - 16GB flash memory would be the most sensible option for Sony to plump for, which would allow for a reasonable amount of games to be stored on the internal memory. Most games weigh in at well under half a gig of memory, so that would be a reasonable size to start with.
No UMD Drive - David Perry's main concern, as with many developers is to do with the UMD format. The loss of the, frankly useless, UMD format would work for everyone except retailers. No UMD would solve so many of the problems with the original console, including battery life, size & loading times.
Sliding Screen - Expanding the screen would have it's drawbacks for existing titles, but putting in a sliding, touck screen format would allow room for the consoles visual capabilities to really be seen. While you may think this is dangerous & flimsy, the technology is there and cheap enough.
Reworked Controls - One of the most contentious issues for PSP users is the controller layout, and the fact that a second analogue stick has never been included. Until now, that is. Changing the screen to a sliding format means that there's more space to reposition the controls, and perhaps include that second nub.
More Life - There will be a longer life battery for the PSP2, with the removal of the UMD dreive. It's not essential, but a mega lithium battery would be a big help.
It's not officially confirmed yet, but i think we can trust PLAY Mag. :high5:

Don't worry about it, it was few pages back.
that one looks less cool than the image on kotaku, but it does seem more realistic i suppose

same here.
As Parjay said the first pic is an unofficial mock up, but I concede it does look seriously cool.
One thing I noticed is that if it was a sliding design it leaves a very huge screen exposed to damage, maybe they should consider a clam shell design so it's protected...
yea i mean by screens have scratches and all sorts, if they add something else that can get damaged then id better learn how to use the warrenty x_x
Hopefully Sony will dedicate more time and resources to the PSP2 this time instead of neglecting it like they have the PSP.
1up saying that new PSP is called "PSP GO!"
thats such a japanese name, i would prefer a simple PSP2 i cant see any relavance with GO! unless its "on the go" which with the exclimation mark makes me think its not, just some buzz word they strapped to it
this looks awesome :)
EDIT: Will there be a new psp out? and when? if it is an other design i will probably buy it..
but i didn't even think about buying the psp slim & lite... its quite the same as the normal one...
but if it looked like on the picture, just a little bit more ergonomically designed, i would definately buy it ...
There are few rumours that Sony will show PSP Go! on E3 2009. And it'll appear in stores till the end of this year. ;D
