As many of you ps3 owners may know this is a aplication you can use on the Playstation 3
use the following link to find out what F@H is and what it is used for.

Don't have a PS3 don't worry their is also a aplication for PC/Macs which can be downloaded from the following link.

Once downloaded on PC you input your user name and then Team Number which I will post shortly
On Ps3 you go to infomation and click Join Team by entering the team number which will follow shortly.
I am hoping to get a many members in this Team with both Ps3 and PC/Macs so we can start to make a impact on Folding at Home.
In time i do want to give some "initiatives" for joing up but I can't promise anything just now.
When the teams link becomes avalible after my first submition i will post them which will have the Stats of the team and indervidual members.
So want to do something good with your PC while you work, surf, game ect and your ps3 then sign up please.
If could also post in this thread you F@H usernames and forum names so i can keep track.
You don't need to post your Ps3 ID as that is seperate.

Basically it uses your CPU whilst the machine is idle (i.e. on but not doing anything) to test protein sequences to aid research for various medical conditions.
i see... i would prefer it if they were testing protien sequances to make the best sandwich meat but i guess il sign up (though i might hold out until "initiatives" are confirmed)

Sinister as and when the "initiatives" are confirmed it will be of my own back (unless I can come to a deal with Tenebra and Capcom) but it will either be every 3 or 6 months for the person who is at the top of the rankings. If i am Top i will default to the next spot as the winner.
So the best think to do is to start building up now:D it's free and simple to use, I have it running on both PC and Ps3.
You can't run it on ps3 whilst playing games but on the PC it runs in the back ground as lo0ng as the aplication is enabled.
So sign up now you won't regret it and it would be a great help for many reasions.

Usually because you haven't finished processing a work unit yet - and then it can take a couple of hours for the stats to update.
Joined this back when you made the topic spike, but I can't seem to get the software to work right on my system, doesn't seem to do anything.

I am No47 lol, that is my PSN id which i used to help with the Capcom F@H team, however i forgot to post it in the thread.
Thats amazing.
I never expected to have the response we have had, Most results are from you :) but every little helps.
So a big thank you to everyone who has joined up so far, and thanks to those who have tried like Parjay but couldn't get the application to work.

What should i do next? This one is hanging about ten mins.
Just leave it and it will (should) continue working depending on your PC's power is how long it will take.
Mine on PC takes about 30 hours to do a unit right now but my ps3 takes arround 6 and a half hours.

ah i found out the problem, i had the settings on use as little cpu power as possible, turned that off and managed to finish a WU so im finally on the leader board!

My stats for this are all over the place. As my PS3 processed 13 WU in total... Or does this merely show the WU done whilst in the team? Not that I am complaining. I just get confused that I am shown different results.

The ones for the team only count since you joined up, but all your other WU still count to your solo score.

This keeps happening to me to. Though I've started to get into a routine of just turning it on as soon as my laptop is running now.

Just to let you know, for some reason my F@H thing isn't working.
At first I thought it was my Uni blocking the program, but it didn't work when I was home for the weekend.
I'll keep you posted on it if it changes, but for now it's taking a break.

I remember, it was a tecnology to insert advertising into video like youtube. Like changing a picture on the wall, this is automatic and could delete the subject of my video.

Unless you can show otherwise, I think you are confusing research done by Stanford Uni with research done by the Stanford Uni-led Folding @ Home project - bear in mind you have Stanford Uni and it's students to thank for many technologies you are currently using, and to refuse to support one project because you disagree with the potential usage of another, is to be blunt, childish.

But you're still ignoring the fact it's a college, therefore the fact that one department is researching X doesn't have any bearing on another researching Y. Think students and professorships with research grants etc.
It's the same institute that finances the researches.

is this still going on? can i still join, are you still actively doing this? so let me make sure......it is an aplication by stanford where it uses your computer or ps3 to do calculations while it is not in use. does it alter your ps3 in any way? e.g. take up HDD space? will it keep track of your ps3 or is it strictly annonymous?

It doesnt matter but the more power you use, the folding is faster.

So, I decided to download F@H on my PS3 last night.
I was wondering about some things though:
1 - Does it run in the background, or do you have to have the actual screen up & running to do it all?
2 - Will it automatically link with my Laptops account also? Or will it just be a seperate account?

No it does not run in the background, the application need to be open for it to run.
Yes you can link it with your PC one by using the same user name. Also with it being on Ps3 i believe you will need to re-add the team number code.

I have it running well on the PS3, anyone else tried it on a mac? We have a PPC mac that it just won't seem to download work units on.

I managed to get the PS3 to join the team, so don't worry about it Sike.
Not sure about how it'd run on a mac, but it might be having trouble getting Work Units because of a firewall or something?

I don't think it's a firewall issue. I've been reading the forums and I thin it's the type of mac we have - an older Power PC version running the latest OS. The client for PPC macs doesn't appear to have any work available for it - i think they just stopped making work units for that client.
I don't really understand Macs though. To me they are like PCs with all the functionality taken out and a mouse button missing. I find it amazing you have to take it into the store to upgrade it. Still, the girlfriend seems to like it.
I have f@h running at work now. I'm folding in two places at once.

I've had to give up folding at work as IT audited our pcs and moaned about it. My PS3 manages 4 units a day though :)
I've had to give up folding at work as IT audited our pcs and moaned about it. My PS3 manages 4 units a day though :)
I used to use the Ps3 but now i play it more so it does not get a look in really:eek:
