I was just browsing through Play today and found this:
http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/8084351/Sega-Mega-Drive-Ultimate-Collection/Product.html

How this came out without me even knowing is beyond me but that looks like one awesome collection. Finally Streets of Rage gets the retro compilation too!

Just a small thing but I was wondering if anyone knew if the Sonic games also had the Sonic and Knuckles variations? (Blue Spheres, Knuckles in Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles)

Hey buddy,

This is worth every penny and more of those £24.99! It doesn't have the lock on for Sonic and knuckles with other Sonic games but still a lot of fun! The 50 something games it contains more than makes up for it and you will love playing them on a huge screen because it even has a smooth on feature! It even allows you to save at any moment and come back when you want to continue.

Might go and play some today too to cheer me up today as Im feeling a bit down... :)

Have you see the pre order vinyl that SEGA made as pre order offer with game? There were only around 3500 made for the whole world and its huge. I will have to get down to HMV someday to play it.

If your buying it for the xbox 360 I read somewhere they have it on a 2 for £30 offer with games like Infinite Undiscovery. I hope it is of help and have fun.

You can see the vinyl and how menu looks for the game in this photo I took:

I loved this collection. Really took me back.

As for your sonic questions, I know there is definitely Sonic And Knuckles and Sonic III, but I don't believe the variants are there.

I am a huge fan of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine :D

It's probably the best game Sega has put out in generations. :D

What's on the vinyl btw Charmed?

It's got 3 music tracks on each side from games in the collection such as the awesome ending music for Ristar. :D

You can see what tracks are and which game they are from here:

I feel so lucky to have been given one as it's one of the best promos I have received ever!

Vinyl, a big CD from 3 decades ago?

I'm mincing over whether or not to buy it, I've played all those games on it to death and have a Megadrive collection on my PSP, im not sure whether or not buying it would be such a good idea...

It means Sega dropped the ball hard this gen, all though I would argue that there have some gems amongst the crappy nuggets like Yakuza 3 and Madworld for example.

I enjoyed Megadrive collection a lot, But I got my Achievements then kinnda never touched it again. I'll go back to it when I get the nostalgia itch, but man, there are some bad games on there, Vectorman can go to hell.

All the video interviews on there are a bit depressing too, bunch of washed up developers who careers never really took off even though they made some amazing classics.

It's a great package, especially at the budget price. I recommend it to anyone.
