So tomorrow Glasgow is hosting its MvC 3 event and im seriously hyped about getting my hands on it. Ive built up a group of around 10 people so im going to get their opinions and write something in here myself about our first impressions.
Is anyone else planning on attending this event or any of the others or have you already been to one and what did you think? With only a week to go im chomping at the bit to get in and play, ill be at the St Enoch centre from 9am probably hanging around like a bad penny until they tell me to leave so if your looking for a group to hang with let me know ^_^

I arrived at the St Enoch Centre a little after 9am this morning and despite the setup being quite far down the walkway i could already hear Deadpool shouting "Yo Mama!". I was lucky enough to be there before most people, probably around 2 hours before things started getting busy, and so i was able to play every fighter and get a good feel for how the game plays, below ill try to describe my experiances.
The first thing that hit me about the game was the incredibly detailed and colourfull graphics, we have all seen the screenshots and we have all watched the trailers but next to the real thing you may as well be watching still images. The fighters themselves are huge and very fluidly animated, everyone has a very distinct personality whether that be super cocky Dante, goofy moonwalking Deadpool or the heroic Captain America. The backgrounds are also incredible, ships fly around, characters from other games cheer you on, all adding to the feeling that the world your fighting in is indeed a living breathing place. The attention to detail on the additional costumes for each character is also worthy of note, Spidermans black suit, Iron mans classic armor and Captain Americas Punisher costume are all represented and look great in motion.
The soundtrack to the game is fantastic, remixes of classic themes from all accross the Capcom universe as well as from the previous Vs games (Captain Americas theme still gives me chills) help add sense of urgency to each battle. The voice acting is limited since its a fighting game, but all voices are crystal clear and suit the characters extremely well, they even have a go of emulating the movie voice actors of late with Magneto and Iron Man sounding very like their movie counterparts.
The controls where at first the thing i have most trouble with, ive played quite a bit of Tatsunoko vs Capcom so i thought i knew what to expect, however when you try to play with the characters you know well from Marvel vs Capcom it is instinct to try and use the four attach buttons you are used to. Thankfully the learning curve is very short and thanks to some cleaver mapping on Capcoms part i was able to easily adapt within the first five matches. Its perhaps testament to the games new "easy" control system that my girlfriends 12 year old son who had never played a Vs game before was able to not only pick up the game and immediatly be on equal footing with me, he was able to get within the top 3 in the tournament held! Of course he only has a vague idea of what direction pulls of which moves, but he was able to play it, enjoy it and since he wasnt beaten down by the control system he now wants to play the game more and learn how to use each character.
What ive taken away from my 6 hour session is that Capcom have not only succeded in making a game that we, the fans of the series can enjoy, but complete beginners can pick up and enjoy too. The game is like a walking comic and is filled with lots of cleaver references spanning both the Marvel and Capcom universes. The new characters are both a welcome breath of fresh air and add a lot of fun to what would otherwise be just another update to an existing series. I for one cannot wait for the game to drop through my door on Friday so i can become more initmate with the game and get my match ups ready for online play.
Big shout out goes to the guy from Capcom supervising the whole thing, he was helpfull, kept everything in order and managed to aquire me one of the awesome T Shirts!
Thank you for sharing your experience!
The truth is that everything sounds great and I can't wait to play the game...
I know that some people already have it and I have read opinions of all kinds but in general it seems the game maintains the essence of the two previous titles and it's real fun and frenetic.
