I know this has been done before but I miss the old traditional Resident Evil, in the creepy mansion with actual Zombies not axe wielding psycho's, but don't get me wrong I do like Resident Evil 5. :)
Anyone agree or disagree? Please send a comment and let me know what you think.
Well they haven't gone anywhere, anyone can play the traditional RE games at any time. Do we need more of them? I don't think we do. Do we need remakes? Nope. Especially since they'd obviously remake them in the RE4/5 style.

You do make make a good point but it would be cool seeing such a game in xbox 360 or PS3 graphics
I voted no, Parjay pretty much hit the nail on the head there.

Parjay did make a very good point indeed but the original Resident Evil game is quite rare and most people dont have the old consoles anymore and with the graphichs that xbox 360 and PS3's have it would be a much better game.
Gamecubes are cheap enough, it isn't entirely implausable that you can still pick one up. On top of that buying one will also give you access to zero, 2, 3 & 4. If you where to spend a bit more you could prehaps buy a Wii, which is backward compatable (so you can play those previous mentioned) as well Umbrella Chronicles and the forthcoming Darkside Chronicles. Wii owners still get the better deal when it comes to Resident Evil compared to PS3 and 360 owners.
However, seeing the original Resident Evil as one of the PSOne classics on the PSN store is something else entirely. ;)

Also, Capcom announced that the REmake and Zero games from the GameCube are being ported to the Wii very soon.
I voted for no.
Parjay has pretty much said what I've said everytime this topic comes up.
The ONLY reason for remaking the games for the 360 and PS3 would be graphics.
All of the original games are readily available on near enough every console of the last generation and the generation before.
They're also quite easy to get on the PC.

I'd like a new game in the style of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero (Cube) - yeah, like that's gonna happen. But a remake isn't necessarily pointless. Compare RE (1) for the Cube and PS. Better technology allows for visual quality and art previously not possible. It's not meaningless. Essentially I'd prefer a remake of these over Resident Evil 4 and 5.

im going to cry out no!
theres already like 3 versions of it
the original and the remake, and isnt their a directors cut edition?
no more please! lol
Resident Evil 1 does not need a remake imo, it had one not to long ago, (just completed invisable Zomboie mode:D)

I agree with this quote, Resident Evil one is by far the best with the creepy old mansion and proper zombies and with the power of the Xbox 360 and PS3 the graphics and visuals would be superb. :D

Graphics and visuals, that's all it comes to with today's generation. Why exactly do we need yet another mansion (or even mansion-akin) environment? There's about ten RE games that feature that, already; before they ran it into the ground.

Q.F. Agreement.
While I'd love to see a new title, on the subject of another remake, I do think re-remaking Resident Evil to the current gen consoles could do the already stellar remake on the gamecube a bit of a disservice. I still think, and I'm sure others would back me up on this, that graphically Resident Evil, especially in terms of lighting and framerate is the best looking game on Gamecube, and even gives most WII titles a run for their money, if not an absolute beating. I'm not totally against it, the Gamecube reason I'd say is a bit of a weak excuse not to do it if I'm honest.
I honestly do rate it as being the best game of the last two Nintendo consoles, and there are some great titles in that list.
In saying that, I fully agree that current gen consoles have that capacity to really truly take that style to a whole other level.....lighting has now been improved to the point where HDR is used quite often, and could be used to excellent effect in a more horror themed title. Certainly in terms of realism, the newer consoles are pushing the boundaries, with Resident Evil's tight, restrictive corridors there is a capacity there to cram in even more detail- even higher resolution textures. The fact is though, rather than going for the 'push the boundaries' option and rejigging Resi for not only the WII, but for the true current gen as well; they'll play the sales card and make a straight port.
I'd like a new game in the style of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero (Cube)
But, but Zero killed the old style!
yeah, like that's gonna happen.Thank the heavens.

It's not meaningless.I can see your point, but how far can that reason be stretched? REmake was coming from PS1 style graphics, there isn't that kind of jump from Gamecube to current day gen.
Sure they could remake it with better tech for visual quality and art, but when will your appetite be satiated? When is enough, enough?
Say they remake it. In five years, on the next gen, are you going to be using the same reason for yet another remake? And five years after that? Ad infinitum? How many times can they remake the same damn game, and why, would you even want to play it over and over. When is enough, enough?

If anything deserves a remake, it's RE2, and I guess that's coming in the form of Darkside Chronicles.

Which is a shame because Umbrella Chronicles was very very watered down, badly written, took liberties with the canon and in general never felt controllable. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but there was an opportunity here to bring back the plaudits from the incredible REmake of Cubew fame, and instead they're taking probably the best loved of the titles and cheapening it into an on rails shooter. It's a shame, but it's what we're getting so we're going to have to live with it.
Dear God, no more RE1 re-makes\re-edition or whatever! After the director's cut, the remake on GC, the portable versions and UMBRELLA CHRONICLES, I think they squeezed the damn thing beyond limits!
I'd like to see a remake of RE2 and\or RE3 (I miss Nemesis and I'd love to fight him again harder)...

And I agree with Megatron: it's a shame everything they can do is doing it as a fast light-gun (or call it as you like) game - with the current technology, they could really improve an already good game - but it's the same thing over and over: RE isn't about horror anymore, so.........
So essentially you want them to bring it to the home consoles and update the graphics so you can play the same game again rather than them working on an entirely new game that continues the story?

Not even close.
It was a statement of disbelief that people can be happy playing the same game over and over again with just graphical updates.
If I can't get a real new RE game, I'd like to get at least a technologically updated, slightly modified (like REbirth) remake of one of the glorious old ones. But even that won't happen.

I'd say visual updates, and then some. Art's involved as well. Furthermore, people naturally will prefer an improvement of an "old" game they like(d) over a new game they don't like.

Sorry mate, but if you look at the sales of every FIFA game for the last 10 years, every Pro Evolution Soccer game, every Madden title, every Formula One title, every Tekken, Street Fighter and every Soul Calibur title you'd always notice an incremental rise in profits for each game as the newer ones come out. (Speaking as a fan of alot of those games.)
Sometimes a lick of paint and a physics update is indeed all people want.
I do think it's a fine line though; A complete change in game mechanic can sometimes alienate fans (Resi 5 much?) wheras a slight graphical update and a few new animations don't always cut it either- it's the job of the developer to find said balance, and turn it into a profitable, palletable and functional game.

Why on Earth would this need to be done? The game was remade last generation and is also being released for the Wii. The game still looks great today so a remake on the PS3/360 would be wasted time, effort and money when the current remake is perfectly suitable as it is. It still puts to shame many games this generation in terms of playability, atmosphere and consistent graphical output.

maybe......it would be cool though if they released a box set for 360 and ps3 with all the main series games, all formatted for those consoles, no upgraded graphics though. KEEP IT ALL ORIGINAL BABY!!!!!!!!

I would say yes as I started playing Re4 on the WII and RE5 on the PS3 If it's true they are gonna make it for the WII I would be very pleased. I just love aiming with the WII-remote!
I voted no as well~ Even though it would be nice to see it in PS3/360 graphics, I'd rather see new original IP's.
i voted yes,.. am all for playing REmake in the PS3,... i dont think i would be hard to port it and to upgrade the textures,.. on second hand, wuld be a nice plus if they would add some small secret extra areas, and REUC episodes, at least those related to becca reaching the manor and playing with richard...
the same could they also bring out RE0 with the UC related areas...
perhaps both in the same brdisc?
well why dont they make it a DLC..? they did with street fighter 2 on the ps3. they made the hd version with much better graphics to bring it up to date jist prior to the SF4 release.
