Hi I am from Capcom Unity here to spread a message. I truely believe that the Mercenary game should also be on the consoles and PC.As RE5 has gotten boring over the years. On unity, members have been asking for more levels and characters for mercenary and Versus for a very long time. But when we heard that 3DS will be the only console to have the game, it was sort of a kick in the teeth. Any way, I'm here to recruit some supporters here to come up on www.capcom-unity.com and just show your support with just one message. I made a thread on the section called "Ask Capcom" . It is the place where most Capcom Officials hang out and answer our Queries like Sven and a couple of other Capcom Staff.Right now A Capcom staff has taken notice and told us that they may take it under consideration. But in order to convince them, we need more supporters. So if you could just take a moment and just show your support. One post on the thread is all I ask. The one post may signify that you will buy if the game is out on XBL,PSN or as a game on the PC.
So please sign up and post your support here (http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/26237193/Resident_Evil_Mercenary_Game_For__PC,PS3,X_box_360 __and_Wii) ...

Please and Thank you :)

There's no doubt that it would a great succes. I have been playing only mercenaries in RE5 for about a year now, with friends or just by myself, and we are still psyched about it. :D

I think that the simplicity of the objective is the magic behind the addictive minigame. 'Kill as many enemies as possible before time runs out.' :p

A very good initiative to start a petition, because I'm sure that there are lots of kindred spirits. ;)

Thank you so much in taking interest in the cause. And I am a huge mercenary fan! I heard that the mercenary game would also have many game modes. So I think that Versus will be one of them too. Or perhaps 3-4 player mercenay?!?!? It would be epic with unlimited enemies mercilessly attacking you and your partners...Mercenary is soo pointless that its fun.Specially when you gt to play with your friends who have a mic!

Try to get as many people as you can to support this in order to make it happen.:)

As I said, we need people to say "I support" on the thread (link given above).

Let's hope it'll work this time and not end up the same way Versus Reunion did :/
Sven(High ranking director at Capcom) said that in order to make it happen we need to gather supporters to convince Capcom.

Hey Raed!

I'd love to see Mercenaries as a full downloadable game, like, Arcade tier on XBL and PSN, whilst Nintendo gets the version on 3DS (I don't know of the capabilities of the Wii, so, apologies for any unintentional favouritism).

I don't really see it as a disc based game TBH, if it was downloaded online with additional character updates, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Agreed.

A game based purely around mercenaries, versus, etc would not be worth £35-£40, as it's basically just a bunch of mini-games, as you said, releasing it in the form of a XBLA/PSN/GFWL title would be more suitable.

It would probably be a massive hit too.

this is a thank you to everyone who supports this as more supporters helps the chances of this happening =), but remember ITS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that if you support this then you must show your support on the thread in the link raed provided or else your support will technically not count as the main guys that are with capcom wont see that you support this, and in the end decreases are chances of this actually happening.

Yeah, just thinking about the pricing:

£10.28 (1200 Points)
For the full game with about 6 characters to start off with and about 5 maps

£2.06 (240 points)
a pop for additional characters/costumes, maybe even weapon packs

£6.85 (800 points)
For additional maps and stages.

Looking at a simple example of how that would play out:
Over the period of the year, Capcom releases 2 new characters and a map pack, total cost would be about £25-30 tops WITH the additional content, that sounds awesome in terms of pricing.

And not only would the DLC be easy to access, the fact that DLC would be slowly released over a period, even if planned by the company, it would show active support for the title, and keep people interested.

There are people still playing Resident Evil 5 versus mode today, despite unlocking all achievements and having nothing to gain but the pleasure of it, such a title would give everyone something refreshing to do.

But I see even greater potential than that, this may sound ridiculous but...

Its a non-canon blank canvas... That means, all manner of crazy scenarios, long lost/dead characters and enemies can be used, and yet, it's lack of a serious tone won't effect it being action and not survival horror, its something for every RE fan.

Nice Idea Dants. But dont you think 30 pounds for a DLC is a bit too much? I think it should have the same prics as Desperate Escape and Lost In Night mares should have.

Nice Idea Dants. But dont you think 30 pounds for a DLC is a bit too much? I think it should have the same prics as Desperate Escape and Lost In Night mares should have.

All of the Gold Edition DLC is worth £10 (maybe a little more with Versus), I speculated the core game should be worth £10.28 without the DLC.

But this is purely hypothetical, I was giving a rough idea of how much I thought it would be worth and price I was willing to pay for it, I have no quibble over price if I get my money's worth in terms of fun.

Many full retail games that cost about £40 have DLC worth a further £10-20 in map packs and other features, it all gradually adds up. For Resident Evil 5, I paid £40 for the full game and a further £10 for all the DLC, a fair price considering it was a boxed game and the additional content was entirely optional.

My view on the DLC is that each time you get a setting based on a particular game of the RE series. RE1 for example:

You start of with just one stage and 2 characters, the mansion with Chris and Jill. Once you get an A rank with either character you get the guardhouse added to your stages. If you get an S rank with Chris you get Rebecca added to your characters and with Jill you get Barry.

The four characters stick to these two stages untill you get an S rank with all of them on both stages. After that, you can use other characters in the two stages and the four characters here for other stages.

This is just an example, I have many ideas. Just like in RE5, you have to unlock the characters and stages first. If you have completed all DLC, you get to play with any character in any stage, which adds to the replay value.:thumb:

I agree with Dante on the idea of releasing it as a XBLA/PSN/GFWL game.

One thing I would like to stress and that is I think if Capcom did release the game as a standalone title it would need to have DIFFERENT characters to choose from, not just the same people in different costumes. For example the suggested six or so characters initially would be e.g. Chris, Jill, Leon, HUNK, Wesker, Barry, Mikhail (a little bit of classic mercenaries thrown in aye ;)) and Nemesis (one evil enemy creature would be cool no) and not Chris in three costumes and Jill in three costumes!

As for maps they could always bring some new content in e.g. a Racoon City level or the Resident Evil mansion, the possibilities are endless. Also for people who might complain their favourite character has a rubbish weapon layout (it would probably happen) there could be a mode where you customise the weapon set to suit yourself, obviously with limitations so you couldn't just be a walking tank.

Indeed, Kieron, the fact that the 10 characters in RE5 mercs were actually 4 characters with different loadouts was a letdown for me too.

Come to think of it, Mikhail, Nicholai and Carlos are literally mercenaries, they should be in the game. :chin:

Well all you guys have to do is spread the word on Capcom Europe while we do our part on Unity, if you guys would come and help us out on Unity, it would be 100% times better. At least spread the word.

I have now signed the petition and took the survey. If anyone else feels like commenting here it should only further aid the cause. I leave the rest in your capable hands comrade.

I'm still not entirely sold on this idea...

Mercs 3D isn't grabbing me much as it is, but it at least makes sense on a portable device...it's a series of short games, that you can occasionally play with/against your friends. Portable devices are mostly designed around short games, such as puzzle adventures, etc.

To port this over to home consoles just seems weak...whilst Mercs was definitely fun in RE3, RE4, and RE5...I don't see it being such a huge hit on home consoles as an individual game. Though, I can agree with Dante in saying that it'd probably work much better as a downloadable game, rather than disc based.

As a purely multiplayer game, what does it have to offer? ost home console players don't want short/quick games, they want something to sit down with and sap their time...and whilst you can certainly spend a lot of time on Mercs, it lacks the substance and staying power of a full title with actual progression and storyline.

I'd imagine that only about 50% of those that still play RE5 Mercs would actually buy this, and then again only about 50% of those would continue playing for more than a year. The servers would be empty fairly quickly...whilst the 3DS version is entirely reliant upon you playing against friends, so it'd be somewhat easier to find people you know to play against.

But...I dunno, this is just my viewpoint.

I'm still not entirely convinced...

I agree with that statement too, it would definitely be better to release the game as a downloadable game instead of a disc based, well unless they implemented a lot of new features and gameplay. I can honestly say I have clocked way way more time in mercs mode with my other half than in the main story mode.

I don't know if they included a vs mode similar to resident evil 5s it would have quite a life span. I can honestly say I have clocked a lot more time in vs mode than I have in the main story too. I still play it to this day and have never experienced a time where I cannot find a match.

Though you could be right, unless it had quite a few new feature it could easily be a flop. I mean if they just simply mesh RE4 and RE5 mercs together and that is that, some people might be disappointed. Though there a lot of bonus feature they could implement......maybe even a return of tofu ;).

I think they will most new game modes to the 3DS, like Rebirth mode for Deadly Silence. Tofu had his spotlight in Darkside Chronicles.

I do agree with the fact that a disc version shouldn't be necessary, as a lot of character would be fine with just the new characters and stages as DLC. :)

I never played Darkside Chronicles, never knew tofu made his return already :p.

Guys thank you al for signing the petition. But we also need you to post @least one comment on the thread showing your support.

On a side note, I would be extremely happy if the game would have versus. That could be the best RE mode yet!:)

just remember though that this thread isnt only supporting a stand alone disk port, as far as i know we support the RE4/new content being added to RE5 as DLC as well cause i'm pretty sure most of dont care how the RE4/new content makes to consoles as long as it gets there lol, just wanted to clear that up for you, and what you said does make sense especially if it didnt have a Versus type mode in it as Mercs gets repititive after awhile. =)
