Level 5 and Capcom will be joining forces in Professor Layton vs. Gyakutan Saiban for the 3DS.

Awesome announcement. Perfect match, Layton and Wright...
... but I heard that there are no plans to release this outside Japan! If that's true, that's just insane... Capcom, it would be a pure and shameless betrayal to all of your Ace Attorney loving fans (and to the Professor Layton fans amongst them) to not release it in America and Europe as well.
Please release this game in UK an Europe Capcom as I have every game in the series (and some of the comics) and this was the best piece of gaming news I have read this year (besides the annoucement of the 3DS itself).
Please Capcom, I cannot beg enough!

This game looks so amazing. It's a must have imo.
Well, I'm certainly excited about this game. I love both the Ace Attorney and Professor Layton franchises.

Agreed... it has to be brought out here. >< Layton and Attorney are both big games... AND it brings back Phoenix and Maya. Not much against Game 4, but... I was in it for the gameplay more than the story that time. Phoenix is a much more interesting character for me, and Maya is a more interesting companion.
Either way, this game would make my year. x3x3x3x3

Really? I feel certain that the game will be released in Europe (or in North America at least). While the Ace Attorney series isn't HUGELY popular, the Professor Layton games certainly are, so I'm sure there's a lot of interest in this game.

It would be bad news if this didnt get released in europe as it seems the 3DS is region locked meaning you couldnt even import that Japanese one! Im pretty sure a series as big as Layton will get a release, even if Nintendo themselves end up publishing

I agree, Professor Layton and Ace Attorney together have so many fans.
On vg.chartz.com you can see, that Professor Layton has more than 11 millions of sales. The Ace Attorney franchise has more than 3 million of sales.

Releasing a crossover game of both series, would definitely bring Ace Attorney games to more popularity, because of the big number of Layton fans.
This games should ve released in Europe and translated in German.
It's looking likely that Nintendo 3DS is only region-locked for specific games. Still, it would be nice for the game to be released in Europe. And hopefully with British voices for Layton and Luke.

Yeah, they'd probably need to get proper voice actors instead of asking people around the office to provide voices.
The Phoenix Wright games are pretty much the system seller for me.
I'll wait until there is a second one for 3DS and then I'll buy one. I doubt I could wait until they release another when I bought one when this comes out XD
And if it doesn't come out.... I guess I won't get a 3DS then. Your move Nintendo and Capcom ^^

Gyakuten Saiban 5 is currently in development. While the platform has not been announced, it is highly likely that the game will be released on Nintendo 3DS.

Phoenix Wright Cross Examines Crowds In Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney has a new mob trial system where Phoenix Wright will have to examine the testimony of all witnesses on the scene simultaneously. Good thing Phoenix has a new brainy partner to help him out.
Famitsu explains you will be able to see and hear the reactions of the witnesses using the game’s cross examination feature. This is how Phoenix will be able to identify contradictions in various statements from the group.
