So, who's excited? 17 days to go now!
I'm deliberating over which pre-order pack to get...
Amazon have the Tribal Pack (tribal raider armour, broad machete, throwing spears and 5 doses of bleak venom)
Game have the Classic Pack (armoured Vault 13 suit, Vault 13 canteen, weathered 10mm pistol and 5 stimpacks)
Play.com have the caravan pack (lightweight leather armour, sturdy caravan shotgun, 4 repair kits and binoculars)
Gamestation have the mercenary pack (lightweight metal armour, mercenary's grenade rifle, 3 super stimpacks, 3 doctor's bags)
I mean, should I go for the classic pack for the useful sounding canteen for desert hydration and run around looking like a goody-two-shoes in my vault jump suit? Or punk it up with the raider gear and start with poisoned melee weapons and a bad attitude? Or stick with my usual modus operandi of running up to targets and blowing their brains out with a shotgun whilst rocking the Mad Max look? Or contemplate going for the explosive joy of a grenade rifle and just accept ammo will be in short supply at the start?
Oh the decisions! So help me out here, what pack are you going for and why?
i pre ordered ma bro LT jones the caravan pack and i was still undecided :thinking: i was leaning towards the mercenary pack but i think im gona go for the caravan as well its all about the gun ;)
cant wait for it to be released, its gona be gud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know what you mean, a sturdy shotgun that doesn't degrade fast would be great to start with! I might go with my heart and opt for the boomstick and mad max stylings.
But then again... poisoned throwing spears!!
just getting the bog standed game no pre-order packs this time for me.
Speant over 150 hours on FO3 so I can't wait for this.

stylings do add to the enjoyment fallout 3 had loads - Eulogy Jones suit, Lincolns hat,naughty nightwear as well as some of the armors. You never know what little treasures your gona come across ingame and how long is it gona take until you wana upgrade???????? :thinking:

Well I was always planning on getting it on PC. In the end I just thought might as well pre-order on Steam.

Yeah, the shotgun makes me thing it's probably the better pack to start off with. Once I got hold of "The Terrible Shotgun" it became my favourite weapon. Sneak attack critical hits to the head, man, the brains flew everywhere.

You're right the Terrible was a great shotgun I usually left it as a weapon for the wastes (4 Giant RadScorps) or close quarter emergencies. But I was tempted by the grenade rifle as well but I agree ammo may be in short supply at the start and I was as also tempted by the vault suit but the shotgun made more sense plus I like the binoculars they could be very useful as well.
also when you pre-order from play they give you £3 off the collecter edition game guide so only £11.99 :mexwave:

"meh". I wont buy it now, ill rent it for 2 weeks and finish it. Ill buy the GOTY when its out next year, cheaper way ^^

Hmm, what format to get it on though. PS3 or 360? Last time 360 had the timed DLC alas, I'll wait for the GOTY anyway. £70 on the limited edition, the blu-ray disc is a little bit more worth than a DVD (value is value!), alas I'd like to know which system has the better performing game.

Well, seeing as I only have the PS3 it's an easy decision for me :P
It's only £37 pre-ordered with one of the starting packs. I'm not bothered about the limited edition, there's nothing there that makes me want to do back flips.

Does the walkthrough contain a character build guide do you think? I want 100 in all mah skillz!
yeah i picked it up it was 400 odd pages over 70 side quests, and 90 free quests so i thought i might come in handy :D and a decent enuff price

OK, that convinced me. Just ordered the Caravan Pack with collector's edition guide. Bargain :)
Now I shall start off my New Vegas adventure screaming the quote from Evil Dead Army of Darkness... "THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!!"
Good stuff, I think any gamer worth his/her salt knows the value of a good shotgun :D

So I'm still stuck on which version to get! I'm leaning to PS3 now just for the simple fact it's on Blu-Ray, haha!
Might also give Hardcore mode a shot when I do get it however, I might get so fed up with micro managing food, sleep etc. I do it in real life as it is, I think that's enough. Doing it in a game, though sounds cool written down, might be a whole new story in practice. So many games to play, too!
I'd pick up the 360 version and then get the GOTY Ed. on the PS3 when it comes out, but I'll do Hardcore on my 3rd play thru, 1. Normal, 2. Very Hard and then 3. Hardcore :thumb:

Eh, I'd rather not replay the game again though. Like I said, a lot of stuff to play. Most my time get spent on SF now just because it's quick...and then I realise 3 hours have already passed me by!

just read on gamespot that the first DLC for new vegas will be out holiday season and is exclusive to xbox live, plans for other consoles unclear so mite be a strategic move to go 4 360 version play it safe
i just got my dispatch email as well not long now :D
im off this week but looks like i have to put some hours in even though im on hols but that just means ill take it other side of nxt wk so more time for fallout :woohoo:

Good man. I think the consensus view here is that shotguns are indeed a wonderous thing. But yeah, give it a few hours until i find the combat shotgun and it'll be sat in a filing cabinet in my house.
The bad thing about fallout is it sends me OCD. On FO3 I picked up EVERYTHING I found and took it back to my house. I think I'll have to stop picking up tin cans this time around. I think my character was becoming a bit like those nutjobs you hear about when they clear their house out after death and find rooms full of rubbish, a fridge full of bottles of wee etc.
The locker in my Megaton house with stuffed to the rafters with hunting rifles.
Ahaha, I'm a bit like that on Fallout 3, but i only pick up things i think will make me rich :) Like a zillion alien guns on that dlc chapter :) Monehs!
I almost didn't pre-order this game! I was really considering getting it, because although i really want it, i'm living on student loans ;) So i figured to hell with it, and play sent me an e-mail this morning saying it'd been dispatched =D
Mad max time, here i come! (Gotta love that Caravan pack!)
Best of all, I have a week of uni next week for a short half term thing :)
I didn't fancy the cheaper guide thing though, because i just wanna roam like crazy :) I think i'll focus on fun before properly doing the storyline.

I'm not preordering it and I'm not sure if I'll even get it. I've got so much more to do with Fallout 3 and there are too many(in terms of being able to afford them) games that I want.
did any one get theres yet? only my game guide arrived today no game :flamesangry: which is disappointing i had my fri nite/ wkend all sorted, supplies in and ready to go!
