It's like a Velociraptor but bigger and with TWO giant claws on each foot instead of one.
Its name means 'Stocky Dragon' and probably lived up to that term.
Awesome. Always enjoy reading on the latest Dinosaur discoveries. YO CAPCOM WHERE IS MAH DINO CRISIS.

Awesomes.
Worth noting, to anybody that is interested and doesn't know already, Jurassic Park greatly exagerated the size of the Velociraptors...
Even so, awesomesauce...

That's amazing.
I wonder if it could fight against a T-Rex too...
Do you ever wonder where the idea of dragons came from?
Western and Eastern cultures have had fairly similar dragons* in their mythology for thousands of years, and at a time when the two cultures couldn't have known of each other.
Wonder if there's some kind of engrained memory of dinosaurs based on some kind instinctive memory, or some story from before the begining of language...
Imagine how a rodent might see a dinosaur, and then how the Chinese view dragons...
*similar bearing in mind there was no contact we know of at that time.

Different sources really, they did find fossils themselves but also there used to be massive lizards approx 30,000 years ago in Australia I think they where about 8 metres long. Plus South American oral tradition recounts a battle between a warrior and a large reptile. But if you're saying did humans exist when dinosaurs walked the Earth thats really a matter for debate although not generally accepted as true there has been enough evidence to perhaps suggest someone was here at that time. Plus one has to remember that serpents and dragons represented different ideas for the ancients, lightning, meteors, rivers, phallic symbols/fertility, royalty to mention a few plus it can also be a metaphor for something completely now physical like man battling with the Beast within oneself to transcend into an enlightened state of existence. So there is a memory of monsters but like all things this changed and shifted as time passed and things gradually gain different meanings as the world changed or should I say the people changed, plus they did worship snakes back then and depicted on ancient Greek Vases are a Hero battling a giant serpent. So you don't really have to go back as far as the Dinosaurs to have dragons in mankinds memory. But Creationists, Hare Krisnas and Native Americans believe we have been here from the start and yes I can back this up with text evidence before everyone starts on me.

- As LT-Jones says, fossils would have been found before.
- Worth noting that almost all cultures throughout history have remained in contact with the rest of the world. As much as we like to think, through general history teachings, that humanity was often vastly seperated, it's mostly wrong.
Eastern cultures (asian, etc) were almost constantly in contact with the Middle East and Russian territory.
Russian territory was in almost constant contact with what is now Alaska and Canada.
The Middle East was in almost constant contact with Africa and Europe, etc, etc, etc.
America was discovered as early as the Neolithic period (I think? Possibly the wrong period).
Etc, etc, etc.
This almost constant contact has helped spread similar ideas and stories throughout the world. The discovery of strange creatures in some lands, with the addition of things like "It was THIS BIG" etc. You get the idea.

Agreed on everything else you've said BTW.
But there isn't any debate as to wheteher humans existed in any form when Dinosaurs were around. Completely different time periods.
Yes, Creationists and other Literalist religious sects do believe that humans and dinosaurs co-existed, along with some believing that fossils were put in the ground as a test, etc, etc, etc. None of which can be backed up with actual evidence.

I always laugh when i hear conservative christians and creationists trying to dismiss the theory of evolution. I once met a baptist preacher at a religious retreat who claimed that fossils were just put in the earth by the devil to lower peoples trust in god. I simply directed him to genesis and revelations, both of which make reference to giant beasts/ dragons roaming the earth before god created man. Sounds like dinosaurs to me. (A slight change of subject i know but the thread brought that story to mind!)

Ok, that's ridiculous.
Unfortunately, we know anything about the real beginning.

The Solutreans from France where in the USA about 20,000 BC and there was evidence of earlier occupation found as well and of course the mound builders were also there.
I would say there is a debate on the Human Dino co-existence but orthodox science probably isn't debating it. There was actually a book written about the reaction to the Forbidden Archeology book released which disputed the human existence timeline that was generally accepted as the norm. I've still to pick it up in the future see what the reaction was to the evidence.
I'll check that out later, gotta do some work for a change lol
