I think they stuffed it up for fans of Leon saying he is dead in Apocalypse :(.
How?
Most of the roles in the movies have nothing to do with how they where portrayed in the games, and as awesome as Leon is in RE2, 4 and Degeneration, he'd just be dragged down with the sinking ship per sé.
Think of it like this: If he did survive, he'd just be some guy with his name, rather than exhibiting any personality.
The Movies aren't good enough to have Resident Evil in the Title. And thus aren't good enough to have Leon in them. They should have been called Alice in ZombieLand. While they're ok as movies they are an insult to the games, they lack the essence of what we play(ed).

There are a lot of RE fans who view Leon as their favourite character. They could at least have given him a role and given him an epic death scene like Carlos in RE Extinction instead of just briefly mentioning his death. :(

The Movies aren't Canon & History. ;) When did Leon die in the games? Leons not dead just because sum rubbish Hollywood film says he his, doesn't make it so. If Capcom kill him off in a game then hes dead. Leon is relaxing in the Carribean sipping Ice-tees and chilling out waiting for RE6.
It outlines in the movies that Leon was Jill's partner (not Chris) in the S.T.A.R.S unit and was killed, making Jill to leave S.T.A.R.S in grief, but this is never explicitly given away in the movies and is largely taken that he died before RE: Apocalypse happened.
Although, one can argue it's an elaborate ploy to avoid detection from Umbrella and Leon may still be alive and doing his thang, but the issue here is, we already have Chris Redfield in Afterlife, so, Leon would be the happy-go-lucky sidekick... something I doubt the fans of the series would really want.

I was referring to the films, which is what this topic is about. In the films it is mentioned that he died, I know that the games and films have different storylines. My point was that it would be lame if they leave out Leon by just saying he's dead. ;)
There might be still a way to bring him in with a theory like Dante's, I heard that Resident Evil Afterlife would be the start of a new trilogy. :chin:
I know what the topic is , my point is that NO Leon shouldn't be included in the films, not because hes lame but because he would become lame because of the films. Unless you can find the right actor to play him then it might be acceptable, but who? :chin:with Ridley Scott directing, then you might get a decent RE film. Or Ridleys son I can't remember what his name is right now but his films were pretty good. The films weren't the greatest, they ranged from poor, good to average and including Leon would possibly demean a Great gaming character to an average film character unless someone of great merit were to take the helm and make an excellent RE movie to be ranked amongst the Hollywood greats. I can't really see this happening which is why I voted for I don't really care. Instead of the possibility of a great character being ported to an average film series character of no real worth in film history I tried to expand the debate into something else which may be a little off topic (and I do hold my hands up, guilty as charged) but it sure beats talking about Resident Average films. And if I wish to offer a brief off topic opinion which does occur from time to time I most certainly will express my opinion regardless. My point is the films are lame with or without the inclusion of Leon.
