Ok, so a few weeks back I went into the GAME store near me and asked about pre-order collectibles for RE5.

I was told there were none.

Yesterday I noticed some small boxes with the RE5 logo on it, and went in to enquire about them today when I bought the guide for the game.

I've now been told that these were pre-order exclusives, and they can't sell them to me (they contain the little Chris figure), despite the fact that they're just sitting there waiting to be bought or returned to the wholesaler.

This really bugs me, and it really bugs me that the pre-order stuff wasn't really sorted out a lot sooner to be honest.

But on a sidenote, Gamestation and GAME are both doing a lot of merchandise for RE5. Posters, Mugs, T-shirts, Lighters, all sorts.

Well, that sucks. I guess you could have kicked up a commotion or something. Did you buy the game from there anyhow?

well it wouldnt really be fair to give them out to random people and since they are free with a preorder it would also be unfair to sell them

I believe stores aquire such "exclusieves" by making deals with the company and selling them/giving them out would proberbly violate that.

I started a minor debate between 2 of the employees. One was ok to sell them, the other wasn't. But I still lost out.

Though I did get my copy of the game from there, and also the Special Edition guide.

I agree with this, but only to an extent. Pre-order exclusives should be for free if you pre-order the game...but when you have loads leftover (they had between 15 and 20), it should be possible to buy them for a small price.

At the end of the day, money is money and GAME will make a profit on them no matter what...

Bloody Game. It all comes down to the staff really. I remember the time I got Wind Waker, I didn't preorder it and even didn't know that there was a limited edition with OoT. They gave me the limited edition anyhow when I answered "no" to their "did you pre-order it". I dunno, maybe the woman just wanted in my pants or something

It's all about who you know, I managed to get a VS minature model from Lost Planet as one of my friends worked there. Unfortunatly since then I've moved away and he's now working somewhere else. However for the price GAME charged, you could have the brought the game from elsewhere and put the amount you saved towards a Neca figure. If you still want one though you could always try hitting up ebay.

I think I'm mostly just annoyed at the fact that they didn't let me know about the figures until it was way too late.

I was asking around for weeks prior to release, to see if anybody was getting anything special...and all they told me about was the 2 Disc version...

I guess I'll have to wait for them to start going on eBay. Or until GAME finally realises that selling them isn't a bad idea.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a head office thing - probably not even the staff knew they were getting in the bonus until they arrived.

actually this is one of the most annoying things i found, me and my mates tried to find out what store had the best extra but no store seemed to know until about a week before release, anyway hmv had t-shirts which seems like the best option but the t-shirts were really lazy in design and the guy behind the counter said "we wont even be able to give these away"

At my gamestation if a pre-orded games has not been colected by a certain time they have a claurse in where they re-sell it. I think it something like 7 days.

Same here...but the fact that the employees in the store are disagreeing over whether it can be sold is also a major issue.

You can get some quality T-shirts from Gamestation at the moment.

What was the HMV design? I may pop in to see if they have any left...if they're that bad, then they should do :p

I think most stores do that now, to avoid getting an overflow of games on the shelf, etc.

they really are rather bad, plain white shirt with blue collar (not a shirt type collar just a blue circle) and a bsaa logo on the shoulder

It's odd zombiemessa because those Chris figures were for pre ordered of the game. If they had lots of them it doesn't make sense why you weren't given one when you bought it since it's only been a few days. Have you tried going in there with your receipt and saying if you could get one since you bought it from there?

I also was mad enough to buy another copy of the game from HMV just to get that t shirt. It looks quite nice because of the blue sleeves that look like Chris;s uniform but only large so looks like I have a dress on. I saw a design that was given out in mainland Europe, which was all black with Chris/Sheva on front that looked quite cool too.

Dont worry about it though mate as there's lots on ebay for £5 and under on buy it now. I am aiming to get that Sheva figure from ebay if I can in the near future.

I'll be spending the next few months buying whatever I can get my hands on. I guess it kind of makes up for the lacklustre Special Edition.

Unfortunatly this is often the case when dealing with some of the big shop chains. Alas the promotion of the pre order gifts is done by the stores in press advertising and on their websites etc. We at Capcom can't promote them as that would be seen to be promoting one store over another... which is a big no no!

The Chris figuirnes were a preorder item for Game they chose to do these exclusively with Game.co.uk i imagine some were made available to stores later on. However they did appear in the Game mailers, on their website and in the brouchure.

Other items available for free if you preordered were 7inch Executioner & 7 inch Sheva figuirines (which we'll be giving a few away of here shortly), Tshirts, RE5 Key rings, Posters.

In future, i'll post all the details of all preorder items available on the forums well in advance so you can make your decision on what to buy and where much earlier.

Agh...even more things for me to try and get my hands on.

Like I said though, the major annoyance was that I did ask in-store, and they didn't even make me aware of the online stuff.

I'd heard rumours of the online pre-order exclusives, but nothing substantial until it was too late.

But thanks for the list of available merchandise, and cheers for the future promise :)

It's happened to me...

I tried to pre-order Resident Evil Outbreak, they said they could not take pre-orders, tried to make a claim for a bonus DVD and was told "well, if you didn't make a pre-order then you can't have it", manager was acting like a 5 year old over it.

And the same happened with Resi 5, I didn't get the figurine I was told i'd get and they said that they didn't know anything about it, wouldn't be surprised if they turn me away again so im not going to bother.

They should really make these things far more clear than simply word of mouth and internet.

Don't worry so much about pre-order items some stores always end up with surplus and at the end of the day it has to be sold.

Hmm. I have never had such a problem. With our EBGames store, any pre-order bonuses that are leftover are free.

Also, GAME are scum, I've not heard anything good about them in Australia and it seems to be the same over there too.

I received one of these figures, I only pre-ordered the normal version of the game, but I knew nothing about it until the little box was placed in the bag with the game, didn't even know what it was until I opened it. They're not too bad and believe it or not I appreciated the fact that they were giving them out (to those that pre-ordered only, unfortunately), I only pre-ordered the day before the game went on sale.

Could these little figures of Chris become collector's items or valuable, really?

I mean not that I would ever sell it, but I would be very surprised.

All of the pre order stuff is made in limited amounts so yes some of it could become very valuable or ebayable in the future!

We try to keep the amounts down to no more than 10,000 of each item and in some cases totally exclusive to the UK, hopefully that way we encorage you to buy the game nice and early to get the awsome extras... if you want to sell them to Americans on ebay for lots of money thats upto you :-)

Pre-orders bonuses go for ridiculous amounts on eBay. I received almost 10 COG Tags from Gears of War 2 and they went for around $30-40 AU dollar's each. That's NEARLY half the cost of a game!

What is extremely messed up about this too is that I got the pre-order exclusive Chun-Li that GAME were giving away a week after release when I bought my copy for free, they just turfed it into the bag.

It's ridiculous, they could have just taken your name down, add you to the list on their computers and blag it with Cacpcom- they don't care, as long as their product is selling.
