For those unaware: Brizamila's the distributor responsible for publishing Capcom games down in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg. I'm not aware of all the details, but I'm assuming they've struck some deal with Capcom-Europe.
Back in February, they decided not to release Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Main reason being piracy. Some developers seem to be doing the same, but I can’t recall an outsourced distributor pulling this kind of stund.
And now, there's still no Mega Man Zero Collection in Dutch retail. It's arguable that the same reasons were involved. Capcom stated both Okamiden and Ghost Trick will release in Europe on E3.
The choice of publishing has already been made by Capcom’s central European branch, making it hard to believe there’s no potential profit to be made.
Brizamila is, above all, a company and should be able to choose to prevent losses. But we're also in an industry where an EU release is pretty much always published in every major European country - mostly censorship blocking some games. It’s major publishers like Capcom that have gotten us to assume this’ll happen, so you could argue it’s their responsibility to keep up such standards.
I'd love to see something like Nintendo's old Seal of Quality, so we'll never have to anxiously wait if we'll actually get that game's everyone is excited about.
