View Full Version : Forum achievements suggestions
We're working on more achievements and since you like them so much here comes the chance for you to come up with crazy suggestions so get your brains working!
Ideally, the achievement should be something that does not need to be applied manually but made automatic, triggered by some specific forum/website action however I'm prepared to accept 1 or 2 manual ones if they're exceptionally good.
The brains and avatars behind the achievements accepted for implementations will get...a special star! So far only one member has been awarded such an achievement and that's Ryu Kazama (I don't even know if he's noticed yet, he hasn't mentioned anything to me :whistle:).
We have quite a few ideas and I won't accept a) Capcom games related achievements b) community helper as they're already in the works :p

Winner!: (has won a competition)
Automatic
Top Artist: (has submitted at least 5 pieces of artwork)
Socially Savvy: (has joined a Social Group/has joined at least 5 Social Groups)
Collector: (has at least 20 games in their profile)
Loyal Fan: (has 200 Loyalty Points)
Top Poster: (has at least 1000 posts)
Notes
Not sure if Collector would constitute as "Capgame games related achievements" as it pertains to your collection, rather than specific game-related achievements.
Top Poster could promote spam, but I'm sure there could be a way to award those eligible without bringing attention to it.
The rest of them are what I'd deem as ideal, yet might need tweaking from the Adminstration team (different amounts of artwork, social groups etc. etc.).
I'll edit when I have more ideas.

Forum Legend - Has full capcom logo
I cant think of any good names lol, but id like to see a trophy for more than 5000 views on ur topic, 1 for 10.000 views, 1 trophy for 100 replies and 1 for 250 replies ( or more ).
I agree in "winning a competition" , will be a rare one tho.
100 posts, 500 posts, 1000 posts, 2500 posts etc ?

Not sure if it is possible to keep track of smilies but if so then count how many times a user posted it. Use it on the funniest icon and when it is used for a certain amount the achievement is unlocked.
Icon: A blank stare of an icon
Description: You used smilies to express your feelings!

Once again not sure if it can be done but pick up on the use of a certain word. Make it a Capcom related word like Redfield and set it to a certain amount of times.
Icon: A big C for Capcom!
Description: Mention Capcom much have you?

One for when a group has a certain number of users on it so leader gets an icon.
Icon: Set the icon to be the cult figure of the ganados from Resident Evil 4.
Description: You have your own mindless cult to order around!
To make everyone happy maybe give each user in group an icon from the Ganados with a description like : You have become a mindless follower.

An achievement for when a user adds a certain number of photos/pictures to albums. The achievement would be a homage to our great Dead Rising journalist.
Icon: Either have the photo icon from Dead Rising or Frank taking a shot.
Description: Your added photos would make Frank proud

Add more than 50 friends throughout your stay in the site.
Icon: two stick people holding hands or Chris/Sheva because of co-op help!
Description: You get on with a lot of friends!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant, I just couldn't think of how to word it all.
But users should certainly be rewarded for using the site to its full extent.

Ye ^^ But the site is still new, i think it takes a while until everyone uses it to full extent. Trophies = Fun, will defo lure some people ^^
Maybe one to do with albums? like "Uploader" has uploaded x amount of pictures to his albums or something
I already asked for a "played resident evil before release" one but that seems a bit unlikley
how about like a manual one "Helper" has provided useful information for another member or
"Socialite" has x amount of friends / or has pmed x amount of times
"Read all about it!" has signed up to recieve updates for x amount of games
we could have like a "Capcommunity member of the month achievment" where nominations are sent to tenebra and then a poll is made to vote a member to have an special achevment for a month and then some1 else is chosen and the achievment is taken away
I think the danger with achievements regarding a certain amount of friends or an amount of pictures uploaded would lead to people mindlessly spamming friend requests and uploading. And I doubt Tenebra wants achievements to promote spamming.
Oh, and it seems like Ryu (http://capcom-europe.com/profile.php?u=20156) found another one. Does anyone know more about this?
Either way, I do have a suggestion for one. It's a manually activated one, but how about an achievement telling you've attended a Capcom event? You could just hang a list on a wall somewhere, on which people could note down their nicknames.

Haha, well I've just been back on the forums, after not being able to log into the old ones, and well, you've had a complete revamp, so that'll be why! :p
Hmm, a few trophies:
"A friend in need, is a friend indeed" - Help a friend out, by answering any questions or problems they might have.
"Welcome Party" - Welcome 5 or more members to the forums, by replying in their introduction thread.
"Disciplinary Act" - Report someone for poor behaviour. (trophy becomes void if reporting people for no reason, just to get the trophy)
Heh, they're just a few that I thought of. If anybody think's they're alright, I'll think of some more. ;)

"Moron" - make 25 stupid posts.
Resident Evil fan - small icon of Resi - more than 30% of the posts are made on the Resident Evil forum
(same applies to every other game)
Omnipresent - icon of "the all seeing eye" - in the last week (or other amount of time) has logged in the site at least once a day

I quite like tzm's suggestions.
Icons based on post counts may end up getting people to spam though (it's like an incentive to them).
There needs to be one called "World Warrior" but I'm not sure what a requirement would be for it. Posting in the French or German section could apply since that's technically someone doing something on a more worldly scale.
CAPCOMmitted: Buy a game on release date by adding them on to your profile the same day.
Master Of Unlocking: Get all other achievements available at a set time.
CAPCO-nfused?!: When voting in a poll that allows multiple answers, pick them all.
Take a photo, it'll last longer!: View the same members profile 50 times.
Unlucky for some: When the last two digits of a users post count reach "13", the achievement is obtained if that user does not post until the next day.
Umbrella are watching you: Include the word "Umbrella" in over 10 posts.
Monster Hunter: Report 5 bad posts (with good reason)
Ace Attorney: Read the terms and conditions thread 10 times.
Quicksilver Style!: Make 60 posts using the quick post box.
I've seen an achievement shaped like a star, saying something like "for helping Capcom"...or something.
It looks miiighty tasty :D
Trying to set up a Capcom Europe Folding at Home Team and was hopeing for those who have had a succesful submition via PS3 or PC/macs recoreded on the F@H team page could have thier own forum achievemets.

Bobafet, we already have a similar one in "Regular". Post in every month for 12 months and you get the achievement. I don't think it would be a good idea to have another one with the same sort of function. ;]

What happens is a word is selected as word of the week, the first person who posts it is then awarded with the achievement.
The words wouldn't be obscure and they wouldn't be extremely common like "the" or anything like that. Tenebra could also hint at it in her Twitter.

It's a mystery!
Find the secret CAPCOM character image within the website to earn this achievement. :D
It could be changed monthly or weekly and set up to be automatic in giving the achievement. It would be like those Easter Eggs in a way and would be a handy way to put good code to use.

But i hope you will post something that even people from non-english speaking countries will be able to know, not words for example like witty(a random look into the dictionary, never heard that word) :)

a walkthrough , a tutorial , how to fix something , how to build something
-"technical" ---> for providing useful information about Pc , programs , Electronic stuff , Games -technical wise - , game consoles , web sites , web tools ( mmm although this forum is not a usual place for that )
-"long Poster" ---> for posting a thread that is longer than X lines or X words ...
-"gentelman / lady" ---> for being polite in your posts
-"writer" ---> for wrighting a nice story in the creative section with X number of replies , or X numbers of Stars
-"Painter" ---> also for creative section , drawing that gets X replies or stars
-"animator" also the creative section , Animations that gets X replies or stars ( this might be not fair since few know how to animate )
(P.S. i remember that Tenebra said that there is an artiest achievment .. if there is , then the writer, painter animator might not be necessary )

On your profile page under forum activity.
With the new customisable option, there should be an achievement for customising your background
couldn't think of a name so i made it up
capcom player-has posted at least once it every forum
note: this means they have posted a least once in the different forum e.g megaman, monster hunter devil may cry etc.
you can changed the name if you want.

I think a tool should be implemented so you can give people 'positive feedback/luv' or whatever, which shows how popular/helpful someone is on forum, it can be given to anyone, but you can only give to that person once. Then have an achievement for reaching a certain amount of it, say around 25(I'd say 100 but it would be near impossible for everyone except Ten :p).

requirement: reach level 3 Capcom loyalty
but seriously, there should be one for getting to level 6 of loyalty (if anyone can). Like half way there, or something along those lines

besides i'll propose the classic "message goal" such as:
Newbie: has entered 30 posts
Member: has entered 70 posts
Regular Member: has entered 120 posts
Advanced Member: has entered 200+ posts
etc.
or a "time goal" like:
Watcher: has been logged in for 2 hr
Searcher:has been logged in for 10 hr
Daily Logger: has been logged in for 24 hr
Time Waster: has been logged in for 50 hr
ect.

how about one along the lines of 'attended a Capcom event'
this could be the Gathering Hall or any other kind of meet up at Expos or game shows. obviously this would have to be manually added but it shows that people go out of their way to get to play your awesome games!

The social event one is nice but a bit of a pain for us as it's another manual achievement :(

Great ideas but unfortunately all manual achievements, apart from the reporting posts.
Well, maybe we could add a "Thank you" button or kinda that and for X thank yous you will receive the award.

It's hard to know what would count as automatic really. I thought my top two would, but Ten says only the Objection one will, so I'm not entirely sure what to suggest now.

I thought about that, but felt that they'd be punished if they abused it anyway, so it's down to how mature the members are.
Problem is, a lot of people would do anything for trophies/achievements, so it's always hard to put something, as someone will always ruin something. :/
TWMYTTIAA (The: What makes you think this is an Achievement): 1 Person starts off with this achievement. Anyone who replies to one of their posts gets it and is now infected, and then any of those infected can infect more people, with the same manner of players replying to the infected post.
Viral Achievement: Clicked link from capcom europe site to Resident evil site, and back again.

Investigator - Viewed someone elses profile.
Indecisive - Changed your mood.
Take a picture, as it'll last longer - Attach an image to a post.
Hopefully they're all automatic, if not mostly automatic.

There could be a risk for that, but that could still be nice for those who has secured all games.
Ya know what'd be cool...
If a select few where chosen at random out of the active users to become "Infected", on being added as a friend, the infection is passed on to another user, which then in turn spreads to the person adding or being added, it'd be interesting to see how many people it spread to from just 5 or more people and would encourage adding people as friends, and if it was secret to the "infected" person, a good RE reference as well.
Another that would be cool would be using a specific amount of characters in a single post, something like "forum chatterbox" or something. :D

But then it would have to be secret, as like if someone writes in a contaminated area in the forum, infection occurs, or if someone is added as friend without knowing this one is infected. The infected one may not know it depending on the stage.

It'd be pretty cool if the had an achievement related to a new game release, so, for example - say Dead Rising 2 is released, if a user organised a match online on these forums, they'd get an achievement like "TIR Contestant" on their forum account.

that sounds like a brilliant idea. Would also help get some more people on this site to play co-op or VS online

That sounds rad, but I don't think it'd happen, as it all seems manual to me......unless of course there was a way in the future to connect your PSN to the Capcom forums, so it could be automatically done that way.

Emotional - Put the maximum number of emoticons/icons allowed in one post (ten).
Picture Perfect - Attached a picture to a post or new thread.

The Devil May Cry - Posted the 666th reply to any thread.

Ya know what'd be cool...
If a select few where chosen at random out of the active users to become "Infected", on being added as a friend, the infection is passed on to another user, which then in turn spreads to the person adding or being added, it'd be interesting to see how many people it spread to from just 5 or more people and would encourage adding people as friends, and if it was secret to the "infected" person, a good RE reference as well.
Another that would be cool would be using a specific amount of characters in a single post, something like "forum chatterbox" or something. :D

How about an icon for age?
Those under 21 get a bronze sprinter.
Those people over 21 but under 30 years of age get a silver chopper motorcycle.
And those over 30 get the golden wheelchair? (and I am over thirty).
And those over 40 years old get a coffin :taunt1: (Ur right I'm sick in the head)
Or a symbol for having celebrated your birthday whilst being a member of this commnity say a blood drenched b/day cake? A small silver star for each year your a member and a large gold star represents 5 years and a large black star for 10 years.

Can I have a special achievement for "last of the malcontent rebels in existence stick to your guns give no quarter achievement" ;) it would have to be a skull and cross bones symbol :)
And then I may forgive Capcom for what they did.
Failing that how about a PS3 so I can buy RE5 Gold ed. with extras included. Or a copy of the PS3 RE5 gold ed. so I have to buy a PS3 to play it.
Don't know if this has been suggested before, but what about an achievement for reading the Forum Rules? :p

Also, you could have:

has viewed his/her own profile more than 100 times.
if it´s possible that would be better though:
less than 50% of all profile views are on profiles of other users
or: that somebody saw his own profile more than anyone else´s
the numbers are quite random, but you get the idea (I guess).

Was just thinking that, maybe upgrade certain achievments?
Like for the friends one, when you get so many friends that the emblem you already have gets upgraded, maybe changes colour and has a little number somewhere marking the achievment.

With the Blog up, maybe some Blog-based achievements could be in order?
With commenting being moderated, applying comment amounts or first comment etc. can't be misused so there may be some ideas within that the we could up with.

Maybe further down the line we could see 'featured comments'. These would be comments which the Capcom staff deem to be particularly interesting. These would then be promoted somehow (maybe a star next to them or putting them inside a coloured box or something...)
Anyway, if that were to happen, there could be an achievement for having one of your comments featured. This would encourage users to contribute more and post more interesting comments.
A good achievement is one which helps promote goodness on the site. ;)

Maybe there could be a thumbs up/down system so that the community decides what's good or not and if it reaches a certain amount of thumbs up then you get an achievement.

That's a good idea in concept... but it would depend on whether or not people would actually make use of the system. After all, you don't get anything for voting people up, so why would people bother? Also, I'm not too keen on negative voting in any way. Positive votes usually work fine by themselves.
Not that I'm criticizing your idea, but it needs a bit of thinking. I myself am slightly doubtful about my own idea. I've seen communities which use a featured comments system, but a problem is that it's only up to a single person to decide the quality of a comment. That could lead to arguments, which is something we definitely do not want. Again, this is a feature which often becomes rarely used.
All that said, I do think it would be great to have an achievement for posting interesting comments. However, I'm not too sure on the specifics. </extraordinarilylongpost>
