View Full Version : Join Captivate 2009!
This year Captivate will run from 21st to 23rd April in glamorous Monte Carlo and…we have 2 places for European Capcom fans!
The deal: tell us here why we should pick you and not somebody else in less than 50 words. If we think you are very special indeed we’ll fly you to Monte Carlo on Tuesday 21st April and take you to the gorgeous Monte Carlo Bay Hotel (http://www.montecarlobay.com/ (http://www.montecarlobay.com/) ) where you will join Capcom staff and representatives from the international press for welcome and drinks. On Wednesday 22nd and Thursday you’ll hear everything about Capcom’s 2009 line up, get the chance to try some of the games yourself and join us for more partying in the evening. We’ll then fly you back home on Friday morning/early afternoon.
The conditions: entrants must be over 18 years of age and must be EU residents. Capcom will cover for flights/transport to and from Monte Carlo, accommodation, meals and any organized entertainment but not extras such as mini bar expenses. Closing date for entries is 4pm GMT Thursday 19th March.
Please keep this thread exclusively for entries, feel free to open another (just one) thread for questions and clarifications. Good luck everybody!
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009...
Capcom Should pick me for Captivate 2009 because I have just spent a week with a misaligned ribcage which causes me constant pain and breathing problems yet im still upbeat and positive! Imagine how upbeat and positive I would be if I won a trip to Monte Carlo!
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009 because appearantly people aren't motivated enough to post something to go on this once-in-a-lifetime chance (unless you're planning to go into game press.) and it would be a waste to not have those spots filled up.
(Note: this post is void as soon as more people decide to take their shot.
Good luck everybody!)
i want to go there....but....i am 15 years old!!!
hiks!:(
i will be waiting for the captivate 2012-2013!!!

My awesomely dry entry designed to go with some music (I should never ever write music...):
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009 because I motivate, never wanna be late and most of all, I captivate. A hadouken here, a hadouken there, it’s time for the show to mutate. I’m a new challenger entering the ring, get ready ‘cause I’ve got the goods to captivate!
I had this lovely column written about the deterioration of videogames and all, only to remember the wordlimit afterwards. So here's my shortened version, hope it's sufficient!
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009 because I'm one of the few people left appreciating the fact Capcom's one of the last companies around making real videogames. I'm also working on getting a job in videogame journalism, making this a great opportunity to be this close to the industry.

Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009 because:
1) My classmates are in Prague that period and I'll be alone at home
2) I'm finally 18 and this could be an awesome birthday present
3) I bought a 360 ONLY FOR Capcom games
4) I'll meet people who created my favourite videogames, and it'd mean a lot for me
5) Pleaaaaaaase!
48 words! whoa :D

Well I might as well give it a shot as it would be a nice break after all the coursework this year. ;)
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009...
as I would not only pack my fancy Polly red lawyer suit but would also make it a priority to take down photos and write down articles about every single moment. You could count on me to get all the scoops on new games and get souvenirs… also world peace!
Vote for Polly in 2009! :D

Capcom should pick me for CAPTIVATE '09 because I'm a realistic and not a pessimist, I like long walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners with the moon shining, fluffy bunnies and Teletubbies. The residents won't know what him 'em once the Carbo-meister arrives with mind-blowing awesomness. CARBO4PRESIDENT.
Capcom should pick me for Captivate 2009 because the original purpose is to disseminate the game line-up of Capcom for 2009, and having people from different countries and cultures is the best way to reach a broader audience, and also to obtain a more wider feedback.
:D
OFF: Yes I know the deadline was two hours ago, but since CR is still trying to get in in last year's event (lol) I decided to post it any way
Let's close this, just in case CR tries to apply for next year's as well :p
We're still deliberating, I'll announce the winners on Monday. Check your passports ;)
Apologies for the delay but we wanted to make sure the winners could attend the event before going ahead with the announcement.
It's been a very difficult decision for us, we had very good reasons to send all those who applied.
So, this year's representatives are Carbonox_Ratchet and Joao - congratulations guys, hope you'll have a great time :thumb:
Since us poor mortal will be stuck at our keyboards as usual, we (ie the community and myself) expect and demand a full detailed report on the games and the event, with lots of pictures and possibly videos if you have a camcoder. You know the score, you don't tell us everything, you get pulpified and stored in jars. Seems fair to me :D

Suh-weeeeeet. =D Thanks again, Ten. :] Don't worry about reports or photos, I'm sure me and Joao will be able to share the work load!
Does this mean I can share the good news elsewhere now? lol

Well done you lucky 2 and hope you have fun! There goes my chance of stalking Monte Carlo's royalty...back to normal then. :p Just out of curiosity but for example if someone is in Monte Carlo is the event open or is there an invite list?
SUPER congratulations you guys.
Enjoy and saviour every view, sound and smell!
...Or forget about the smell, since there's gonna be a lot of people..<_<
Oh wait, joking around would've had a chance getting in? Ah well, better luck next year.
Have fun, you two.
:D Thanks, can't wait for the event next month :D
I'll be equipped with my camera for pictures, and mobile phone for videos, expect a lot of leaking to youtube (out of joking: are we subject to any NDA on any content?).
I'm sure that I can take a picture on the beach and send it to you, Tenebra :p
I'm sure that I can take a picture on the beach and send it to you, Tenebra :p
Of you?
:fear:
:D
Inserting me on the picture would ruin the beauty of the landscape :p so no, just a nice and relaxing picture to help you with that hard keyboard work ;)

I'd like to echo Joao's question on NDAs. I read a report on last year's CAPTIVATE and apparently the media was under embargo. Then again, said embargo was probably in relation to the behind-closed-doors presentations, which are most likely a no-go for us non industry folk. :P

wooo-hooo! congrats guys!!! have a lot of fun and tell us EVERYTHING you'll see there! ;)

I'll have to check with the PR Director on this, my world is made of things I know and can't tell you yet and things I can tell you, I rarely have the time to keep up with what is embargoed and what is not.
So, will any of you be reporting through Twitter?

Eh, I'm not a member of Twitter. I will however, do write-ups before bed. Unless of course, there will be computer access somewhere in the hotel (I won't be taking a laptop or anything, as I don't one), making it easier to report quickly.

Congratulations, people. Have a smashing time, won't you! *sniff* tis sad to not go but eh, extra days to study for me.
congratz guys! tbh i was starting to worry how i would ever get a week off during this time that has suddenly become very busy for me, so no hard feelings!
do us a favour, take as many pictures of anything (and i mean anything) that is monster hunter related, write down any news that is monster hunter related and ask this question:
"Any plans to bring Monster Hunter Frontier Online to the western market?"
Should have lots of monster hunter things there me thinks, what with Tri under development and a new psp game in the works

Yeah, i second that guys.
Anything you can find out to do with Monster Hunter would be great.
Have a great time out there and post us loads of pics.:D

I also don't have account on that
I have a notebook but don't know if I'll take it or not, I'm afraid of being mugged... :(
I'll take my PSP for sure, but as you may image I won't be able to post long sentences on blogs not upload pictures.
tbh id prefer an overall review of the event rather than a daily update, just like make notes but most of all have fun! then do a write up when your back!

Well, the whole idea of Twitter is making posts which are 140 posts, tops. considering how fast you're done with that, it's easy to be the first to report something. I've done it during a political meeting here in Holland a while back.

Chris Kramer updated the Capcom US blog with an entry on CAPTIVATE09. It's an interesting read and sheds some light on certain aspects.
Enjoy!

Contrats to the 2 winners.:thumb:
anyway, i have a question, is Captivate a public event or it's accessible only to few journalists and reporters of gaming websites?
I'm asking this because I live in Italy, Turin, not too far from Monte Carlo and i would like to join this event, really.
thanks in advance

Sorry Sunglasses At Night, the event isn't open to the public, as far as I'm aware.

Trust me when I say that I wish it was open to the public. Wouldn't mind splashing some cash on a 2 day stay to play the new Ace Attorney if it is even there. :P
