- Looking for MH3 friends -

Hi all!

first off, I'd like to apologise in case this thread might have been initiated in the wrong sub-forum, but as there's no other sub-forum I have seen that has been fully dedicated to MH3, I figured this would be the most adequate place to start this.

I'm completely new to the series, but I can say that I've been hooked ever since I saw the trailers for it. Finally I procured a copy, together with WiiSpeak and now I'm dying to try the online mode (even though I'm only at HR1).
But that has been a disappointment so far, as I have got no other friends who play the game, and I can't fall back on possible friends from previous versions of the game. Only being able to use the awkward keyboard to chat with online wanderers doesn't really enable me to truly make friends with someone, or even join their quests. The system is kind of closed in this respect.

So that's why I came here... I was hoping for some kind of online community where gamers gather and hook up to play quests together (kind of like animal crossing). Am I in the right place for this? If not, can someone place refer me to another possible outlet for my "grieving" :p

Welcome to the board, and indeed welcome to the game, if you're itching to get online then I would suggest heading over to this thread:

and adding up a few people from there on MSN, pretty much always available to help out and play online.

Is MSN really the best way to engage into contact (and combat) with one another? Seems random, and quite unsecure, to me. Do you just add people at random, isn't there a preliminary stage before adding them?
However, if that's how it is, I don't mind doing what it takes to expand my gaming experience :)

Btw: online play is region locked, I presume? Therefore I won't be able to join up with Japanese or US-based players, right?

Well, I made a new MSN account only for MH, that way It's easy enough to not have to worry about checking mail. At the end of the day it's the easiest way I've found with getting online with players from this forum at least.

Another question though (yes, they keep popping up :D ): is there any way of knowing when online festivals and special "event" quests are being held/scheduled? Is there some kind of database? Or do we just have to go only and test our luck? :p

Theres no plan for the events actually, when u get to a city, before entering a city either talk to the old man on the left n check what events r up or just enter a city and check there.
