Need to get back to the first one
Didn't like the first one at all, I found it way to derivative - so I'm not holding much hope for the sequel.

They kinda cut off all possible continuations... everyone dead, illegal opperation, etc... so I would like to see the movie (downfall or whatever) as a game play the as a member of the crew before Isacc appears or play as a member of the colony idk I would love to play the next one though, loved the first (really should get my tier 3 engineer achievment soon... )
You should probably edit the spoilers before Spike gets mad.

Dead space was such as great horror game, but I think it borrowed a lot from RE 4 and other horror franchises. Thats not bad at all really, but it wasn't as original as some people make it to be. I still give it a 9/10 anyway :)
It also had cut and paste level design to some extent, and you often spend most of the time going from one part of the ship to the other to flip a switch. The story was a bit predictable as well, but it had some good scares throughout.
I look forward to the Dead Space 2.
Anyway, Spike, when you get back to playing it and you do manage to complete it...the ending may frighten you
All that and it's still given a 9?
The indicative personification of all that is wrong in the videogame "journalism" world.

So I'm a journalist now? The good points outweigh the bad in Dead Space. Just giving my opinion, that's all.
It's still an AWESOME game.

Nope.

Indeed.

Dead Space is a good game. Not fantastic, not bad - just good. It's solid in its execution and works brilliantly for the sort of title it is. However, it's hard not to notice the whole Resident Evil/Doom/Aliens amalgamation of ideas going on, so there's very little in terms of innovation and for me, the added linearity and back-tracking made it rather tedious at times.
However, because Dead Space didn't disappoint me in regards to being a bad game, I'll keep tabs on the sequel.

Yup, exactly what I had trouble with. I was kind of disappointed, as a lot of people really hyped the game up to begin with.

The horror aspect of the game I loved, but, as I said before, the game was not as original as people made it out to be. The RE/Doom/Aliens ideas mixed in were very evident, but they were handled quite even if you sometimes say to yourself "I can see what movie/game they got that from".
But just as horror game alone, it is great. Maybe its because I'm a horror fan, I don't know.
After three playthroughs though, some of the scares start to fade and thats the problem with these "scary" type of games unfortunatly.
I have no idea where Dead Space 2 will go, though. Another spaceship? Not to sure if EA can pull it of again, but we'll wait for some more details to come out.

I'd say it was more "RE/Doom/Event Horizon" than Aliens.
I liked Dead Space.
It's incredibly hard to be innovative and original in this day and age, with near enough every idea having already been done.
Dead Space went with what was liked, and did it well.
It got the controls perfect, it got the setting perfect, it made everything seem fairly realistic in a sci-fi setting.
The characters and storyline were predictable, but many Survival Horror's are predictable.
Overall, the game was fun to play, and fun to watch, and fun to listen to. The Universe itself is interesting, and the game opens up many possibilities when it comes to storyline.
I wasn't a fan of the Downfall, but that's purely because of the terrible voiceacting and art style. Everything else was fine.
I'll be looking forward to both this and the Wii game they are making.
The Dead Space niverse has a fair amount to offer, even if it isn't original.
Dead Space 2 you most definately will not be Isaac.. this game could likely be a prequel, by looking at it from maybe some sort of Head Alien's POV. maybe in the beginning
"Spoiler"
You have to defend against the humans when they find the "artifact" not gonna go into too much detail on this. then you have to make a plan on getting it back, then you do basically the opposite of Dead Space one, instead of running around and trying to fix broken things... you have to run around and break them?
and also Dante and Parjay... spamz much?

The Dead Space game being made the Wii is the Prequel game. You get to play as other survivors before Isaac and the others reach the Ishimura.
Also, considering Downfall and the series of Animated-Comics went into the lead-up to the Ishimura, I'd expect Dead Space 2 to follow on and build on the Universe...rather than go further into the past.
All of that has been covered to death, and we've only seen 1 game so far.
I see no reason Isaac can't be a playable character again, even with the ending as it was.
But if not Isaac, then another random person that has to deal with the Necromorphs.
Fair play to you a second time... buy why is it always humans ;( Never looked at from the Bad Guy's point of view.

I guess people just aren't used to bending conventions.
You ccasionally get to play as bad guys, but they're still fairly intelligent.
Playing a Necromorph would be essentially running through vents and killing people...with no point, it'd become a hack&slash.
Possibly an interesting concept for a multiplayer mode, but nothing more.
Plus, a human character offers more for storyline. It offers interactions with other humans or humanoids, it gives players something they can actually attach to, and given the storyline of DS1 it offers the developers the ability to play with both yours and the characters minds.

Here's some interesting news about the Wii title (Dead Space: Extraction) expanding on the Dead Space Universe.

Good info TZM I am looking forward to this.
I'm gonna have to buy this the first Dead Space. A new horror series is just what I've been waiting for, and these announcements have convinced me.
I'll blame you guys if I don't like it though :p

I realy like what have i have played so far, need to go back to complete it.
I can only play these types of games when the kids are at school or in bed so progress is slow.
