Man, Dead Rising was great. Was a little quirky, though. You could put that down to the fact it was about zombies and public bathrooms, but the game's developers have a simpler explanation. "The first Dead Rising was built in a very Japanese style", Capcom's Shinsaku Ohara told CVG. "We had some help from America, but basically it was all done in a Japan. We wanted to do it better for a Western audience this time.".......................................

I never really noticed it, but now that I think about it I'd have to agree. Although I wouldn't've changed it in any way.

But the producers noticed, so that's why they teamed with the Canadians (http://www.bluecastlegames.com/) :thumb: Can't wait to see the final result

Not been here for a while since RE5 Gold edition launched.

But payed close attension to Dead Rising 2.

Dead Rising 1 was and still are one of my favourite games.

Dont really know what they mean with too Japanese as I liked all what DR1 offered.

I miss a bit the whole fotograph leveling up in DR2 but as I guess its logical thats removed as Chuck is not a journalist.

Maybe we will see some photograph mode anyway with the new chick that seems to be looking for a scoope herself according to some trailers anyway.

As long they dont mess with the humor of DR1 which is unlikley what I seen thus far off this game I guess all tweaks is welcomed.

Interesting , but if you take a look on how people commented on this article it gives a pretty good vieuw on how the majority of gamers think about this statement , i find it always a bit wierd that capcom own staff devellopers sometimes have totaly different way of thinking and fortelling than that is actually really going on in the minds of western gamers .

I think this article is a way too get the gamers ready for the fact capcom is making a 90 dergees turn in DR2 , so that the disapointment isnt too big when the game actually reach the market.

Anyway i aware that capcom has a difficult time atm because of the schrinking profits and i do hope they get over it and stay a healty and cool game company

Too Japanese.... Somehow i always prefered Japanese games to Western games. Square-Enix, Capcom and Konami are among my most favourite developers and i look into almost every game (released in Europe) of them just because of the high quality titles I enjoyed so far since NES, SNES, PS1, PS2 and now on the PS3.

There are only a few western developers that i can really enjoy (for example Naughty Dog Insomniac, Quantic Dreams,...). I really like the Japanese way of story telling and character portraits. American games tend to have rather bad stories (or do not put much effort in the Story), the characters often are very one-dimensional and its often all about violence and shooting. I also had very bad online experiences with american gamers (rude behavior, flaming psn-messages, cursing and insults via headset, elitism accompanied with the tendency to call everyone noob, etc.).

I thought about getting Dead Rising for my Wii, but I somehow just can't stand that Wii Controller. Still thinking about it, maybe after I tried Dead Rising 2 and i got rid of my Games backlog.

"Westernizing" games is something, that leaves a bad touch for me. After I went through some WRPG vs. JRPG discussion threads I gave up discussing the different expectations. My prime interest in Gaming lies in enjoying a good story or interesting settings. Recent developments in "Western Gaming" were not always positive in my opinion.

After my "Oblivion"-Desaster (most boring game I played in the last few years despite getting various game-of-the-year-awards) I realized that I just dislike that open world and sandbox style, weak stories with hundreds of meaningless side-quests, etc. I prefer a story-driven linear game.

Online-Gaming is the other problem for me. I really like the way Resident Evil could be played online. I could play the whole story online together with my brother and not only some competitive battle mode. That was 1 reason that made RE 5 my personal Action-Game of the year 2009. Western games tend to cut down the storydriven single-player content in favour of online competitive battle modes.

These are some reasons for me why I tend to like Japanese Games more than most of the Western Games. Therefore I somehow dislike the idea of "westernizing" japanese games. That is just my personal opinion and I am aware, that Capcom has to find a way to reach the taste of the most important target groups and satisfy as many customers as possible.

Since I happened to get Bionic Commando and Dark Void short time after its release at a budget Price at Amazon I feel that simply "westernizing" Games or employ Western Developers is not necessarily the best solution. I still haven't played those 2 games (have to finish White Knight Chronicles and Star Ocean first) but I somehow have a feeling that those two will be not as good as expected...

I think it's partly because Capcom wanted the setting to be more western, but obviously being Japanese it'd be hard to do so. I couldn't give a better representation of America because I've never been there.
