During 1966 - 1967 citizens of Point Pleasant, West Virginia were harrased by something about 7ft tall with glowing red eyes and wings.. they called it the Mothman xD... it was first seen in November of 1966 when a young woman (Linda Scarberry) and her boyfriend were driving near a WWII TNT Plant, when they saw Glowing red eyes in the darkness, as they realised it wasnt looking too friendly they began to drive away, they saw a dead dog and began to speed off as this "thing" chased them at high speeds, eventually they stopped as he flew ontop of a building, the man then got out of the car and began throwing chunks of coal and stone at the "thing" as he hit it one time it stood up and began flapping its wings, they realised they were in trouble and drove off during the course of that year to the end of 1967 over 100 sightings of The Mothman were seen.
Then on December 15th the Silver Bridge collapsed killing 46 people, minutes before the bridge collapse, The Mothman was sighted at the top of the bridge.
Do you think its real? I'm half and half really xD
Probably real in the sense that it was misidentified bird or other animal of some sort, due to so many different sightings and accounts during that night. Though, that slight chance of it being something "real" has always garnered my attention to stories like these.

Right, but you gotta remember that eyewitness accounts are dodgy at best. A seven foot tall bird might be a five foot tall bird to someone else. It's been a while since I read up on Mothman, but isn't some real-life big bird the likely culprit. A crane, I think. Still, there's always that chance it was some new creature no one has seen before.

Yeah but I mean 100 similar accounts would be quite convincing to me xD
and the part about the new creature would be very possible, although people think there is only one of these and it died in the bridge collapse xD

Honestly, I love this kind of stuff. I don't know much about Mothman, but I know the subject is very popular among many of the mysteries of the world.
This is known Cryptozoology, which is the science/study of unkown and strange creatures throughout the world. Been into this for three years now.
A bit off-topic, but has anyone else heard of two lake creatures known as Champ and Ogopogo? If not, go look it up on Google; interesting stuff for sure.
The lake Champlain monster, as they refer to, is often seen a lake called Vermont, which is somewhere near New York. I have a very credible picture of it on my PC, but I don't know how to upload pics yet. Its actually a still from a video that I can't find anywear :mad:
Ogopogo, which said to be up to 40-60 feet long, is often seen in lake Okanagan in Canada.

also, people say its a foresight of disaster.. there is a still somewhere on the internet of a black flying object which does look a bit like a bird thing. which was sighted minutes before the 9/11 attack
people say they also saw it minutes before the minnesota bridge disaster
people also say there were teens who chased it around the chernobyl grounds but then they died from radiation poisoning and the video still lies inside the plant.. xD

All I really know about The Mothman is what I learnt when I read up on it after the release of "The Mothman Prophecies" which was a terrible film that bent true accounts to entertainment.
he problem with eye-witness accounts, especially in such close knit communities, is that they become overly exaggerated and the eye-witnesses will often bend the truth to fit in with what their mates said.

I enjoy reading about old legends and I'm pretty neutral on the topic myself. There are many things in life that we do not understand and there are many things that we have not seen. I'm therefore fairly open to the possibilities of these things but there is the fact that we're talking about a half man half moth creature so you can't help but feel that it all sounds farfetched.
