Former SCEE President to become COO of European arm

Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that it has appointed David Reeves as COO at CE Europe, the company’s European subsidiary. This role, effective from April 1st, 2010, will see Reeves responsible for overseeing all aspects of the European operation with the remit to maximise potential revenue and explore new areas for growth throughout the region.
Most recently President and CEO for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Reeves spent 14 years with the company setting up operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and overseeing the launch of PlayStation throughout Europe.
“We are very pleased to have secured the services of someone of David’s calibre, commented Hiroshi Tobisawa, President, CE Europe. “He brings with him an unprecedented level of industry knowledge and expertise which will be invaluable as we look to grow our European operation.”

Speaking about his appointment, David Reeves said, “I established a close working relationship with Capcom during my time at Sony and have always admired its commitment to push boundaries and develop innovative titles. It is therefore a real pleasure to now join this organisation and be a part of its future successes.”
Seems a good move made by Capcom...

It certainly does sound good news. Does Ten or Fonix have any more on the situation?

He was CEO at SCEE. Meaning, the man in charge of SCEE, managing the money and... I think Wikipedia explains better:

A chief executive officer (CEO) or chief executive is the highest-ranking corporate officer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_title) (executive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senior_management)) or administrator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Administration_%28business%29) in charge of total management (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Management) of an organization. An individual appointed and CEO of a corporation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporation), company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Company), organization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-profit_organization), or agency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_agency) reports to the board of directors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Board_of_directors).
So, not directly related to games :D

It's great that someone with that much experience is joining CE Europe.

On a slightly unrelated topic which has been bugging me for some time now... CE Europe... The 'C' obviously stands for Capcom... Should I assume that the 'E' stands for Entertainment? I believe it used to be called Capcom Eurosoft... but 'Capcom Eurosoft Europe' seems a bit daft.

Apparently you're right about that:
Nov, 2002:

Company changes its name from Capcom Eurosoft Ltd. to CE Europe Ltd.

It's easy to say just "CE Europe" :D

Wasn't this guy at Captivate during the game announcements, Joao? He was still with Sony then.

A good coup for Capcom indeed. Might be a good thing for the PS3 Capcomites too.
