View Full Version : Is Dead Rising: Wii really so bad?
A lot of the reviewers have been giving bad reviews for the Wiimake, but is it really so bad? I've had a look at some trailers and it seems to have what made Resi 4 addictive for me (the shooting style).
I'm considering buying it at some point, but I just can't make my mind up, so I'd appretiate it if you all discussed the Wii version.
Have fun
I have it and enjoying it, it has a slightly different format to the 360 version with saving people and missions.

I put my money on it not living up to the 360 version long ago ever since I read the kotaku thread that was posted on this forum some 8 months ago or so..
it said "There will be significantly less zombies on screen" as I recall, that put me right off this game.

Yes their are less zombies on screen but they have a better respawn rate.
It's not a bad game at all.
Yeah but at Night time, you wont even have a challenge getting survivors back I mean, just run around them all xD
Also spike, do you know who removed my Sig xD
Nope these Zombies are faster and seem to have better dead AI.
Removed you sig? I did not know it had been removed.
But still, theres like 50 on screen at a time I mean wow. big challenge, maybe if you had em running that would make it better xD
and yeah I once had "May your pubic hair be infested with the fleas of one thousand camels and may your arms be too short to scratch" xD

It is hard to explain but it not that much easyer than the 360 version. You realy have to play to see that.

Well sounds like it was not realy apropriate for the forum, but the person who removed it should have let you know i guess.

Agree, it is actually fun. Those popping up zombies and different AI is makes it quite challenging sometimes. It feels and is a different game to the 360 version.
It is hard to describe, if you think the Wii version is easy, play it and judge for yourself.
Naah I've been through that game near on 25 times now not even the new version could pull me back in.. but the really sad thing is.. I still havent got 1000 Gamerscore yet ;l

Well, I'm only at 960/1000. Two more achivements to go; 5 and 7 day survivor. Those two will take a lot of patience
Some of the hardest achivements in any game is Dead Rising
I've wondered...is there a sort of achievement system in the Wii version? Not like achievements, but unlockables, I guess.
Yeah, my question is: Are there unlockables in the Wii version? And are they new to this version?

Not achievements like the Xbox360, you are rewarded with ranks for missions in between case missions, each rank rewards something, the top rank (s) sometimes rewards a new outfit or weapon.
I'm doing a detailed comparison between the two versions for a website, all I can really say is that its a completely different game to the Xbox360 version, it plays identically to Resident Evil 4 (you even get weapons from RE4, like the Red 9 and Semi-Auto shotgun), Frank is a lot more capable with melee weapons though, certain story elements have changed, such as some characters no longer die or some are already dead, there's far too much to mention.
As long as "the blonde woman" is still in it, I'll be happy. I'd like to see her die again, but she's a good character all the same

I really enjoyed the game. It's an entirely different beast from Dead Rising on the 360 and because of that I really liked it. The story has been streamlined into a more linear affair and although that sounds like a bad thing it certainly makes things interesting and takes a lot of the randomness away from what the original did.
Some bosses have been retooled into constant recurring enemies too. Jo, Cliff, Kent are just some.
Weird though, I never fought the Cultist Leader, Sean, but I could visit where you fought him and nothing was there. Is it a bonus mission somewhere perhaps?
Either way, great game. There's heaps of similarities to RE4 and it definitely uses it's engine (hence the similar weapons).
It's clear not a lot of effort went into this game, but it's fun, so who cares? =P
I did enjoy Resi 4...and the trailers show it to be similar (at least control-wise). Do you still find the weapons and food lying around, or do you buy them now (eg from a merchant or in a storage box)?
Last question: does that woman on the motorbike really look so...chunky...as was shown in a past screenshot?
you buy guns
but ammo and other wepons and food are all other the place

After defeating Cletus, he becomes the merchant. It's kinda weird, but I guess it works.
As for Isabella, she doesn't look as bad as the screenshots, but the cutscenes (although captured from the 360 version) look pretty bad compared to the 360 version. Something has gone wrong, but by no means are the graphics terrible.

Really? wow.. f***** up...
Cletus: "Southern American Accent" Greetings Straingerr Hyaah hyaah.. would ya like t' buy some guuuuuuns?
I loved the 360 version of this game and still play it alot even today.
But Iam thinking of maybe getting this for wii even if have some negative reviews as if I had listened to all reviewers out there I would have missed some great game in the past aswell.
Nontheless I have some questions heard that the mission is no longer timed is that correct?
I remember in the 360 version one sometimes got a rescue mission and suddenly got a main mission and one had too choose carfully which to take.
But if mission is no longer timed here I guess it gives us a little more freedom to pick the mission, rigth?
Another question does Frank still level up and if how now when the camera system is no longer in,is it kills that counts now or someting else?
I know about some of the changes mentioned above and now Pet Zombies but is there any new npcs aswell one can rescue or kill that was not in 360 version?
:high5::high5::high5::high5:OMG Dead Rising is the best zombie game ive ever played my 5 friends even said so ive play alot and i mean ALOT of zombie games and Dead Rising was the ultimate best!

Thier is not time limit on the missions so their is no rush.
How ever on the rescue's you do have clock but thats more to do with avaluating you rescue to give you a rank at the end of each person you rescue.
Yes you still rank up you PP goes up with each kill and goes up further with with a certain amount kills like every 1000.
Dogs and birds also give you extra PP
I not seen any new NPC yet but i still have to complete it.

As far as I know, there are no new NPCs or extra content.
There are two unlockable modes at the end of the game though! =)
This is looking like the better of the two versions, not only with the new unlockables, but with the better save system and non-timed missions. Of course, there are no achievements though. Ahhh, too many important decisions!
I'm thiking about getting Dead Rising, I just don't know which version should I buy, the 360 or the Wii... :S
Which one do you guys recommend?

I feel like the only person in the whole world who didn't have a problem with the save system on the 360. Now, the on screen text, that's another thing ...

Neither did I :)

Hard to say even thought they are the same game essentily they are so different.
Just buy/rent one and if you like it try the other one.
I still haven't gotten 'round to buying one of these. I just keep changing my mind. I'll probably wait until the Wii version gets cheaper though.
In my opinion, Dead Rising Wii is a bad joke.
I mean the aiming and the new gameplay itself. And even on Wii the grafics could be better.
All in all i'm dissapointed of the Wii Version although i would prefer Wii.
XBox 360 Version FTW! o/

I guess that down to opinion as i realy enjoy using the wii-mote in the game.
The graphics arn't bad but with the less power than the 360 it needed to be like that so we could still have lots of zombies in the game.
