Me and my fiance went and bought one together today, which is awesome.
We've got 7 games in total, and it only cost about £370 in total.
Sadly I can't take it back to Uni with me, so will only get to play it 4 days of every month, if that. Though next year I'll have free reign on it all.
So I now finally have all of the current gen consoles, all of last gen, and most of the handhelds.
Oh, and awesome new forums.
Thats not a bad price.

We got it from Blockbuster for £299.99
It was the 80GB Killzone 2 bundle, and it also came with Haze and Rainbow Six Vegas 2.
Then we went and bought Siren Blood Curse, Virtua Fighter 5, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and Dynasty Warriors 6.
I'm also trying to get my hands on Resistance: Fall of Man.
Haze i was not keen on, but I enjoyed the rest.

Chances are good it won't. Enjoy how silently it's running. Even with HDD installs the 360 is considerably louder, at least my Elite is.

In the long run, I'm not picky about my consoles.
I like having all 3, as now I get to pick and choose the best titles, etc.
The PS3 is VERY quiet though. But sometimes the games can be a bit jittery. Killzone 2 skips at times.
The reason I have Haze is because it was free with the console. So it's all awesome really :P

I am to a certain degree. Although "picky" is a matter of subjective definition, itself.
That aside, I really don't like how the cases of PS3 games look. Just unattractive. That see-through part was a very bad idea, in my opinion and adding a red element ruins the style even further, if that's possible with a clear case. As for the consoles themselves, I prefer the 360's design, but only in black (Elite). I still really like how the original PS2 looks.
A bit random, all of that, but hey.
TBH I prefer the design of the PS3, but i still hate the pads:eek:

Over the Elite as well? As for the pads, I currently actually like both, equally I think. They are notably different, admittedly. Ah, one thing, though, I think the PS3's "traditional" digi-pad/cross is significantly superior.
Not keen on the 360 style at all, but then again it the TV i wacth.
The digi/cross pad is better on the ps3 but the pad's design i am not keen on.

I agree on the ps3 pad design (and of course its predecessors), never really liked the sticks on it.
Finally, welcome to the club TZM. ;)
I would recommend Resistance 2 over Resistance: Fall of Man if it's just for single player, it's superior in every way. Though obviously it's going to be a bit more expensive.
You'll have to tell me what Siren Blood Curse is like, it looks like the scariest game, well, ever. :eek:
As for the whole joypad debate it really dose depend on what I'm playing. SF IV on a 360 pad is a big no no.
Good stuff, mate. Maybe we can have a match in SF4 someday, if you've got it.
I just have to practise a little~ Pretty much everyone at work are dominating me and I'm almost struggeling on "Easiest", which isn't a good sign.

Really? I didn't like the first Resistance, I thought it was a bit sub-par.
Siren only costs about £20 dosn't it? If so I'll go out tomorrow and pick it up.
Maybe I need to give it more time when i get my Ps3 back.

I heard a rumour it was out of print, but you might find some surplus copies around. But yeh it's a great game for the ps3, maybe a little too dumbed down than needed, but it's great. If you've played any of the previous Siren games, you'll probably be glad that Hitomi Shimizu is back on music duty. The Design of the PS3 is good, a bit too fat tho ^^

So I've now sat and played atleast 30 minutes of all of the games we have on the console.
The console is great, quiet, easy to use, etc.
The controllers feel very light and spongy compared to the 360 controller, which is a bit off-putting.
Killzone 2 is good, much better than the first game...though still a tad boring.
Uncharted is great, but the constant barage of enemies gets annoying. I'd prefer to be making my way through the storyline, doing the puzzles, etc...but the number of enemies just gets ridiculous and slows the game down.
Siren Blood Curse is great, but is appearing much shorter than I was ever expecting...especially compared to the first and second games.
Rainbow 6 is great in co-op, but single-player is a bit pointless. Bashing through the doors and getting your targets with your mate is great fun.
Overall, the console just feels great and I'm glad I've finally got one.
Will you be getting Resident Evil 5 for your new toy? :)

I'll be buying the 360 version to start with, then get the PS3 version at a later date.
