View Full Version : Website and forum downtime - Monday 2nd March
Heads up - the new site and forums are ready to go live :) Unless something unexpected happens, the new website will go live late morning/early afternoon on Monday 2nd March. There will be a small downtime for capcom-europe.com while the forums will be down for around 3-4 hours. Please dont panic ;)
Im sure there will be some teething issues but nothing that should seriously impact your experience.
Hope youll enjoy it :)

Guys, guys, a bit of respect for the hard working peeps at the Capcom offices please.
After all, theyre the people that have kept this forum running for a good while now, and they have jobs to do in the meanwhile as well.
Just give them some time, and eventually, the change will happen. ;)

Looks very nice and no conflicting colours at all! The main navigation menu is very simple but effective to find all the main areas. :)

One of the most important feature of any forum- "View new posts", is missing. Id take off the trailer part from the site (even though you can hide it), get PM icons back to each users posts, instead of keeping them in the profiles.

The forum redesign is incredible, I have to say whoever the designer was they did a great job on the forum and website.
I think the new look is slick and stylish.
With a tonne of new features as well, I don't think anyone can complain tbh.

That was quick! I've noticed though, that when you view posts through that link they don't update that you've read them, so they're always new posts.
Edit: actually it updated now I posted this, however it still only shows 3 new posts - is that perhaps the "problem", it only shows three at a time?

Finally we're on the other side :wave: and I've got a whip :whip: as well as the Sledgie.
Apologies for the delay, as you might have noticed the changes were pretty drastic so the developers and designers were busy developing and designing and I was busy adding content to the new site and being a general pain with the devs (sorry Wingee :D).
Anyway, this is just the start, there will be regular additions/adjustments to the site and forums.
Hope you like the forum achievements - there are some still uncovered and more will be added in the near future.

Seeing as the PM feature has been brought back up to everyones posts, Im now looking forward to the "New posts" option, hoping that one can use their own signatures, and then I guess this might all be golden.

I dabled in a bit of progamming once, a simple program to see student scores on a registration with options to highlight students with very low or very high scores took 13 pages of coding and 2 weeks to do... i think being a proffesional programmer is a long process

Trust me ManiacFather that internet programming can get messy. If your really trying though why not look online for tutorials? I did a module about it which had me doing pearl/CGI scripts and that is a popular language. But it is quite hard to grasp and you need to run it through a server.
I had to do two programs for a logging in facility and to remember user entered details( colour). It took me ages just to get them working as it's hard to spot errors. I haven't done PHP yet but instead done Javascript which is more fun and the tags aren't so strict. :P

I asked him to be more direct, i couldn't understand his answers, because english is not my mother tongue, as you already know. Nobody is my servant, and i don't think my behaviours contradict that. I didn't ask for favors.
Btw, Drazyl sent me a summarised and helpful information about web programming. He didn't express any resentment about my comment. His message was very friendly;
If you're seriously interested, look into PHP and basic HTML, pick a simple task (traditionally a small DB driven app - storing the names of your cd's, mp3s something like that) and have a stab at it on a Linux machine.
I'm not arguing with you, since you are an admin. I'm just clarifying my statements, because you misunderstood me and your post was somehow harsh. I'm not impolite, impulsive or arrogant.

I can somewhat see where both of you are coming from.
Instead of "simple english please", "please use simple English" would have objectively been better, in the sense that it's more politely (again, objectively). The same applies for "send xyz" and "please send xyz". Combined it may appear that you were - objectively - a bit unfriendly.
At any rate, things should be fine now, you didn't really make any kind of big mistake, MF; I certainly believe that you didn't mean to be rude. If and when you personally think Tenebra made a mistake please, over the next couple of days, give her some - a lot of - credit. She's practically been working 24/7 for a rather long time now in order to get this up and running. I'd be tired as hell.

English is not my mother tongue either and I think that rule #1 is learning how to be polite, especially online where there's no body language and make an effort. I don't want to be considered the most annoying member of the forum, but here's another problem:
I was trying to PM "Spike 74" to ask him how to put a PSN ID card on my profile (he has one), but I was unable to do it because the forum didn't recognize his name. I've used the forum direct link on his profile, so not a mistype from me. Maybe it has something to do with the space on his name :confused:
Any way, if someone can answer my question I would be grateful :)

Thanks Spike, the true problem is that the forum picks up the gamer card from the US PlayStation site, not the european one. I solved the problem by going to http://www.us.playstation.com and sign in with my PSN account, it then generated my gamer card which is now displayed on my profile :)

On the american site it's in the top right corner "LOG IN". Works on Firefox for me :)
