Im looking for an experienced player to teach me the basics of Street Fighter IV.
Atm Im using Ryu and I can pull of the basic moves like Hadouken, Shoryuken, Hurricane Kick but Im not great atm as Ive played online and won and lost against new players as well, so Im guessing the standard of my skills isnt very good atm.
Id appreciate any tips on getting better and if someone would mind teaching me on xbox live for a couple evenings pm me for my GT.

This applies to basically 90 % of the Ryu/Ken players online.

The thing is, the first thing I say to people who ask me to teach them Street fighter.... whats even more important then knowing your character, is knowing your opponents.
Lots of people online these days dont even seem to realize that they cant jump-kick into Blankas shocker, or that my Bisons scissor kicks go straight to fireballs. <_<
I dont have any clues for Ryu in particular, except DONT go by what the challenge mode offers you... the hard trials might offer some decent normal combo linking, but theres so many things you could link into bigger, better, badder stuff.
The best way to learn Street Fighter...is the hard way.
Learning how to guard after getting hit by the same move 17 times in a row (as I had to learn Vegas drop attacks -_- ), judging your opponents distance and if hes going to jump into your focus attack or not, etc...
Of course, that last thing wont be SO hard, considering people Always play Ken, except for those few out there who main Vega/Rose/Bison or Guile.
(And watch out for James Mitchell, hes one though cookie. XD)

Atm I think hard combos arent the problem because I need to learn the basics.
I learnt you cant jump into Blankas shocker the hard way btw lol.

He has a load of different ways to play. Patience and strike when the time is right, in your face rush job etc. Hes extremely versatile!
Abuse the low medium kick. Its one of his best pokes and links straight into hadouken. You can use a low medium punch, too. That works wonders. Something simple like low mp, low hp, hadouken/hurricane/shoryuken/ex version of each/focus etc. His focus is not bad either. You can throw it out there like a standard move or if you want touse up your EX, cancel from normals.
His forward+mp overhead is very usefull but cant be abused too much or you will get punished. If it hits, you can go for a sweep, low mk to hadouken or whatever else you fancy.
Essentially all the later trials are near useless or really wont happen in a real game (applies for every character) but you can extract parts of the trial combos that will work consistently and arent as crazy hard to do (Fei Longs chicken wing to fierce anyone?). For example Ryus EX hurricane to EX Shoryuken, FADC, Ultra is possible but only works in a corner.
Also remember his jumping medium crosses up, so use it.
