The comments section of the article has more info:

Vanquish is PS3/360, it’s confirmed. It’s due to be out by Winter 2010.

• Mikami says that while it is a third person shooter, it is not a “normal” shooter. It will emphasize speed and fast paced action, and you will also be shooting robots instead of humans.

• The game setting is a near-future war between US and Russia. By setting it in the future, Mikami can use robots and high tech stuff to make the game more interesting. He says the reason why the enemies are all robots is because he wants to allow players who do not like shooting other humans to be able to play and appreciate the gameplay in shooters as well.

• The mech suit features a high speed booster which allows you to very quickly boost next to enemies to pull off close range attacks. There are a large variety of close range attacks moves in the game.

• There is a balance between using cover and using the boost, but it is definitely not a pure cover shooter

• You do not pick up and change weapons in the game, instead your weaponry is part of the suit and it all transforms in realtime into different sorts of weapons.

• The game is about 80% complete, and they’re working on refining the AI for both allies and enemes at the moment. There is a demo planned.

Interesting, sounds kinda like Zone Of The Enders, but with a more realistic tone...

It seems interesting. The battlesuits remind me of Super Probotector (Contra III) and Halo ! I hope this time the PS3 version is 100% like the Xbox version (Bayonetta!). Otherwise I am all in for some fast action :D!

Excellent! I really am looking forward to Vanquish, and can't wait to get a hands on with a demo, or something. :D

Charmed - Thanks very much for the links to the screenshots. I love the one where he's sliding across the ground. It looks awesome! :p

Hmm looks Halo-esque with hints of Gears of War, but if it's Platinum Games who are producing this, then no doubt it has potential to be an absolute stunner, even if they have an odd mix of assorted games.
Seems like they are tackling a variety of genres and Third Person Shooters are no exception, especially considering how new Platinum Games is. So kudos to them.

To allay any fears regarding the PS3 version, Shinji Mikami confirmed that the PS3 will be the lead SKU for the game, with the game being ported to 360.

Sounds good to me but Ghostbuster for the PS3 was also the lead platform and in the end the Xbox version was a lot better. But I should think more positive, I guess! Let's see how it turns out! It's not over 'till the fat lady sings :D!

From what I've read, the only difference between the PS3 and 360 versions of Ghostbusters was the textures. Anywho, I don't believe for one second that the PS3 version will be any less of an experience of quality product than the 360 version this time around, especially with the quality of personnel involved in the game.

Another tidbit of news is that Vanquish won't have multiplayer:

A good choice indeed, irrelevant if on paper this game would suit a multiplayer portion. Going by Shinji Mikami's resume and past, you can expect the game to offer more than enough to warrant subsequent playthroughs, nulling the need for any multiplayer offering.
