This is insane.
By the sounds of it, Valve are using their techie skills to announce a new game, in an old game.
Follow the links in the article to hear the new sounds, and see decoded images, etc...
My guess is either Portal 2, or Half Life 2: Episode 3.
EDIT:
This is by far the most interesting image to have been decoded from the audio messages:
http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/9306/portalasciilarge2.png
If you zoom in, there is a lot of writing that you can read.
"I now remind you that Aperture Science is built on three pillars. Pillar one: Science without results is just witchcraft. Pillar two: Get results, or you're fired. Pillar three: If you suspect a co-worker of being a witch, report them immediately. I cannot stress that enough. Witchcraft will not be tolerated."
:O
Thx for info TZM, im always exited about valve news :)
EDIT: I analyzed the image.
Soo, this is the list of "Low risk" human resource aquisitionsi found there:
Hoboes and tramps, orphans, psychiatric patiens and seniors.
I found a record of anomalous emotional response and a image of heart under it(it must be records of a test subject reacting to companion cube :)).
I also noticed the last record was in file named CJohnson. Maybe a new character? The fact that there are records from people inthe image, especially the last record, it seems the whole image takes place before original portal.
Cool - but how can they do that? Is it PC only? Because Catmoo got me the Orange box on 360 recently, and I really enjoyed Portal.
I checked some youtube comments from morse code experts, and this is what the said:
The first part of the coded message:
INTERIOR TRANSMISSION ACTIVE.
EXTERNAL DATA LINE ACTIVE.
MESSAGE TEST ACTIVE.
And in the later part:
System Data Dump Active
User Backup Active
Password Backup Active
Maybe i was wrong about the prequel, maybe it has something to do with bolearis, the ship that was seen at the beginning of hl2 and the main concern of gordon in hl2 episode 3. You know, maybe its a transmission from bolearis to aperature sience centre or backwards. It would make sence, bolearis is owned by aperature. .. and maybe the transmittion was sent from the aperature sience center after *SPOILER* glados exploded *SPOILER END*.
What do you think guys? Speak with me please :D, im so into HL series than into any other gaming series

Borealis, not Bolearis :p
As I say, my guess is towards either a Portal 2 (which was kind of confirmed back when Portal first came out), or Episode 3.
I liked the stuff written in the image I linked to, especially the 3 Pillars and the Human Resources stuff :p
What I'm confused by is the "dino" images that can be found in the sound files...the stuff that they're talking about on the official forums. No idea what they could be.
@Soop:
I'm hoping it's for all versions. I also have the 360 Orange Box, and would really like it if this update is for all versions of Portal...
I read about this late last night. I recently(well just after Christmas) bought Portal for PC(I have the Orange Box on 360). I'd do it all my self but it's mostly out there already...

Portal 2 confirmed for PC and Xbox360.
Coming out in Q4 of this year. There will be a co-op mode and is also reported to be "a full-fledged, standalone" sequel with "new gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists."
And a short description of the game: Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.

Not for ps3? Well, no harm done, i play valve games only on PC anyway :). Cant wait, just CANT WAIT!
It would be nice for Valve to embrace the Ps3, but at least their will be a PC version.

I understand why valve doesnt want to make games on ps3, they said:
a)Its a more complicated hardware to make games for
b)they dont have such a support from sony as they have from microsoft
If valve made an xbox exlusive game, which wont happen cause they are dedicated to PC as blizzard is, i would be so pissed off, that i would write an email to gabe newell(which i did and he wrote me back OMG!)and destroy all valve posters i have in my bathroom and cry in the corner like a little girl

True.
I know on all gaming platforms they are not exclusive but on console platforms they are.
I do PC game but I am not a big fan of it much prefer consoles.

If you ask me, the only true way to play valve games is on a PC. I prefer my ps3 for games but if valve decided to release a game for ps3 and pc, i would probably buy both versions, although i didnt buy orange box for ps3(even when its soo cheap)because its way more inferior compared to pc and xbox...

Valve actually came out recently and said they would like to support the PS3 again in the future, but they'd prefer to focus (for now) on the platforms they are better equipped to design games for.
I agree with Bobafet though, although I have Orange Box on the 360, I'd prefer to play the games on the PC (I'm just waiting to get myself a pwerful enough PC).
Also, new ending!

To add something, some people tried to use noclip to see what was dragging them and the results(comment from youtube):
All it is is a little floating box with the word "beans" on it. Some people actually call the party escort beans now.
Makes me wanna rofl
Addition: I had a typo in the previous message, the typo was: I didnt buy orange box. Now it is: I didnt buy orange box for ps3. Just for those who read it and didnt understand :)

Some more delicious Portal info:
Portal 2 is set hundreds of years after the original game and sees the return of nasty GlaDOS and female protagonist/test subject, Chell. There's also two-player co-op planned with a pair of humanoid robots controlled by each player. They like to hold hands.
Chew over the bullet point list below:
Portal was a 'trial game' apparently. Size and assets were specifically kept minimal as Valve had no idea it would be as popular as it turned out to be.
Portal was a 'test bed', Portal 2 is a 'full game'.
Portal 2 takes place hundreds of years after the original and so the Aperture Science complex has overgrown and almost looks like a jungle.
GlaDOS returns as the antagonist.
Chell returns as the hero, and we play as her once again.
Those personality orbs you may recall from the last Portal have sectioned off parts of the Aperture labs as their territory and are concerned about the decaying state of the complex.
The original Portal gun thankfully remains unchanged, so will still be the same sleek, crisp white lump of tech we're used to.
There's a new 'paint' mechanic wherein certain liquid substances can be used to cause a reaction. For instance, the demo showed an orange substance on the floor that propelled Chell upwards. Using portals you can chuck these 'paints' through to other areas of the level for puzzle solving.
New reflection cubes will enable you to reflect laser beams for some puzzles.
Physics will now be an integral part of portal puzzle solving. A vent that sucks air in can be combined with a portal to 'suck' from a different location is cited as an example.
The co-op campaign has you play as two bipedal robots that like to hold hands. Fruity.
Co-op will also have a splitscreen option and will reportedly utilise picture-in-picture online to allow you to easily communicate with the other player and combine efforts for puzzle solving. Nice.
I couldn't help but laugh at the fact that the players hold hands on co-op. That's so cute. :p
