Capcom have to be taking the mickey with the Megaman boxart... but at what point did it turn into a joke?
Capcom outside of Japan have some of the most consistently bad boxart I have ever seen. As an example, let's look at the Street Fighter II boxart for the Super NES:

What's wrong with this picture?
Firstly, it's unclear what's happening. Chun li looks to be kicking an unconcious Ryu, and is then surprised by Blanka?
Blanka is moving since he has motion lines. Which would indicate that the others aren't because they don't - but although Ryu is lying down, his legs don't fit with the wall.
The only character we can see clearly is Blanka, even though he looks like a ball. Chun Li is facing away from us, and Ryu is at an obscure angle. This is very bad.
The background looks like an afterthought.
The background and the style of art is not representative of the game at all. It is a street, and they do appear to be fighting, but you know what I mean.
The scale is wrong. Blanka is huge. His head is as big as Chun Li's torso.
It's too busy.
I hate this artwork.

Ok, I admit the Japanese box art is not much better.
This is quite good if you ignore the fact that Ryu looks like he's wearing makeup:

Conceivably, this next one is better than the original:

Here, 2 characters are clearly fighting.
Sagat does look doubtful as to the effectiveness of the hundred-hand-slap, and is possibly falling.
The art style still doesn't fit the game, and E. Honda gets a rare moment in the sun, but it makes more sense than the first one. Lessons have been learned.
But I still think that this artist is a relative of someone high up at Capcom, as anybody else would have been fired, or never hired in the first place.
