I'll be looking to get a new DS game in the near future, and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Golden sun 3 (DEFINITELY)
Scribblenauts
Chronotrigger (Good lord, check the ratings for it http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/chronotrigger)
Chinatown Wars
Hotel Dusk

Professor Layton is a must!

I already have the second, and then borrowed the first, which I just finished today - but I do love prof. Layton

It's pretty much the reason I got the DS!

Can people actually pirate DS games? Not through R4 cards, but actual carts?

I was doing what I always do when looking at games, amazon, play.com and ebay...

But for some reason, some of the sellers in HK or China are selling for £10 games that everyone else is selling for £24. There's nothing in the feedback, but I am suspicious.

Yeah, it's possible, but just so long as you stick to legitimate retailers, you'll be fine, most online stores won't allow pirate copies to be sold, and there's always reporting methods if you do find it to be illicit.

As for games, I can recommend the Castlevania series, Dawn Of Sorrow, Portrait Of Ruin and Order Of Ecclesia are all very good, the latter being one of the best games in years in my opinion.

GTA Chinatown wars is quite fun, simplistic fun but strangely addictive.

I've not played my DS in forever, so I'll have to think of a few more later.

Your in for a treat as I have like a mountain of DS games since I first got the original DS and then my black DS Lite!

So here's a few in no particular order:

Sonic Rush
Sonic Rush Adventure
Ace Attorney Phoenix "Nick" Wright 1,2 and 3
Ace Attorney Apollo Justice
Ace Attorney Investigations Mr Edgy's classy world trip
Kirby Powerpaint Brush
Kirby mouse attack
Kirby Ultra Star
Fire Emblem : Shadow Dragon
Another Code : 2 memories
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia
Bleach 1 and 2
Legend of Zelda Phantom Houseglass
Mario and Luigi : Partners in Time
Electroplankton
Korg DS 10
Yoshi's Island DS
Wario Master of Disguise
Advance Wars : Dark Conflict
Animal Crossing Wild World
Hotel Dusk Room 215
Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
Super Princess Peach

Here's a short selection of some of my favourites. :D

Drop Scribblenauts from the list though, the novelty will wear off after the first two hours if even that long.

My personal favorite game on DS is Rythm Tengoku Gold, which got released here as Rythm Paradise (or Heaven, I keep forgetting which one is the European name and which the US name)
Even with the snazzy English voice overs of the songs, I can tell you that this is one game that I can STILL play even though I got it on the Japanese release date, and just pop in the DS for a few games. ;D

Final Fantasy 4...maybe 3 as well, if you like level-grinding.
Mario Kart DS - also fun online
Tetris DS - Also also fun online
Definitely go for Chrono Trigger DS. One of the best RPGs on the DS.
Resi DS - Not as good as REmake, but much faster and with some added twists.

Pikaaaaaaaa Chu! "Thunder!"
Many fond memories of trying to catch them all on Blue and then Yellow which was followed by Shappire.

Would recommend Diamond but it requires more patience. It just does not give me the same buzz as the originals. It seems like everything got rinsed with the same characters given a makeover.I also miss my Ash boy, pervy Brock, that crazy Misty and the ever dramactic Team Rocket. It just is not the same without these characters... :p

New Super Mario Bros. MUST GET ^^

Got New Super Mario. IMO, it's one of the worst Marios. Not that it's bad, but given that I have Spirit Tracks, and 2 Prof Laytons, it's the weakest game in my collection.

Yoshi's Island 2
Yoshi's Island
Super Mario 3
Super Mario World
...
Super Mario Bros
New Super Mario Bros
Six gold coins
Super Mario Land
Super Mario Bros 2

I'd put it roughly here.

Back to the other stuff, that hotel Dusk game - what's that like, it seems intriguing... And as for the 'mon, I could be tempted, but I haven't played it properly since the GBC (crystal)

Ah, now I think we can all agree that Hotel Dusk is a great game. It has a sequel coming to Wii too. It's a bit like Another Code, but much more old-fashioned. Very nice artwork.

Edit: I meant to quote Charmed for this, and not for it to seem like it was my own idea. Sorry and all that :s

Yes, that does look good. That goes on the list.

And Mario is getting better too.

Korg DS 10
wait with that one, if you have a DSi, because there´s a new version released in Japan already (you can´t import though, DSi games are region locked as you may know), if you have an old DS or a Lite one, I´d also recommend it, but have a look at it first, because it´s not really a game.

Rhythm Heaven is really nice too (I know, it´s already been said, but it´s really good)
Castlevania (all three of them, also mentioned already, but also really good)

Another music game:
Daigasso Band Brothers DX, it´s just midi music, but you can take any music sheet and put it in there if you want to (and have the time to do)
(if you like music games there´s also Quendan Elite Beat Agents, which many people like, but ... well, I didn´t, but I only tried Elite Beat Agents)

Metal Slug 7, I don´t think I have to say anything about Metal Slug right?

Flower Sun and Rain
Kind of like Hotel Dusk with a 3d character that walks around, but... more confusing or... lets just say I like it.

Contact
hm.. don´t know how to describe this, maybe a RPG... well, just have a look at it.

Okey dokey.

Metal slug is not a bad shout, didn't realise there was one on the DS.

I played the one on the neo geo pocket I think? Or the PSP?
Well, anyway, I got to the end of the first level on my first go, and he'd not managed it yet!

Don't know whether the whole game could hold my attention. If I see it cheap though...

Ijust checked and I could get the anthology for the PSP or the Wii. Sounds like a better deal.

True. Just know, that there´s no real "classic" control scheme on the Wii, even the most "classic" still requires you to shake the wii remote for throwing grenades. There was some flaw with the psp version too, but I can´t recall it right now.
