is there a simple and fast way to slowly unlock ALL secret charcters in SFIV (PS3 or XB 360)?
Theres an old trick for this for any fighting game.
Just play as your favourite character which you know youre good at with character switch at continue turned on, fight until the second to last challenger, fail on purpose and switch to the character that triggers the unlock, use them to beat the last boss and itll unlock the character, its alot faster than failing with a character youre not used to, not sure if it actually works on SF4 though, definately wont work if you need perfect wins.

I doubt that works though Ive never tried. Just do 1 Round, Easiest and complete it with Ryu for Sakura, Sakura for Dan, M.Bison for Rose, Abel for Fei-Long, Chun-Li for Gen. Then with any character get at least 2 perfects and 2 Ultra finishes to fight Akuma to unlock him. Finish the game with him then do another game with at least 2 or 3 perfects and 3 Ultra finish to get Gouken. Finish the game with everyone for Seth. It wont take too long if you just go for the spammable moves. Heck, a few of us had to this today right before the Ranking Battles. All I did was spam Level 3 Focus Attacks, dash in and throw (for charge charactes) or shoryuken etc for the rest.

are there any other special requirements needed to unlock akuma? i tried it this way and got the 2 ultras and two perfects and didnt unlock him

No continues is probably one of them. Im actually not sure if youre even allowed to lose a single round either so set it to one round.

You can lose a round, just ensure no continues are used. Interestingly enough I was trying to get Gouken yesterday and I was told you need 2 perfects, 3 Ultra Finishes and no use of continues. I tried this and it didnt work in getting Gouken to appear but I had lost a round... Later on though I tried again and again I lost a round but that time it worked... Seems almost random though there must be something I did wrong the first time.

Akuma- After unlocking Sakura, Dan, Cammy, Fei Long, Gen and Rose, Fight him on arcade mode, to do that, Get at least 1 perfect and use no continues.
Cammy- End the arcade mode with Crimson Viper
Dan- End the arcade mode with Sakura
Fei Long- End the arcade mode with Abel
Gen- End the arcade mode with Chun-Li

You need to finish it with Akuma first. The ending makes sense.

I hate how that doesnt seem to make sense...
I beat the arcade mode with Sagat on medium (GOD TIER, baby!) with 2 or 3 perfects, a good couple of ultra finishes, and not a single round lost...yet no Akuma..<_<
Dont you need to beat the game using Ryu to fight and unlock Akuma?

No that gets you Sakura.
