Yes, anyone who breaks the T&C in reguards to hacking gets a ban not just of the console but gamertag

what i was trying to say is that the action taken isnt exactly suitable

its like locking away a master of escaping or drowning a swimmer, hackers should easily be able to get around such a minor inconvienaince as banned from xbox live, and heck they could just sell the console and then some poor sap is banned for no reason

i suppose its near impossible to find these ppl but i wish it were, they deserve a good face kicking

They arent pro hackers. All theyre doing is using available tools to bombard a players xbox IP address in a denial of service attack, so its not going to be easy for them to break into microsofts network.

well the masterminds behind it were described as being highly skilled so they could simply sell the infomation to get unbanned or whatever

Every router nowadays has firewall, and most of them protect against this type of attack:

Your Router is equipped with a firewall that will protect your network from a wide array of common hacker attacks including Ping of Death (PoD) and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

Of course, if the attack is large scale the firewall wont be able to protect, but it does seem to be work of amateurs...
