View Full Version : I set myself on fire
While I was cooking. Funny, huh? ^___^
I was wearing my dressing gown, and it totally caught fire.

Lulz,
What slapstick method did you use to extinguish the flames? Pat it out? Roll around on the floor? Did Donna use the soda syphon on you?

Is is completely inappropriate that it makes me think of this?

"I am on fire and now I think I am ready to bust a moooooove!"
Nah this is serious, are you ok dude or any burn degrees?
I once tried braising some livers while spending Summer with my dad in Portugal. They got a bit too overcooked and so he decides it is a good idea to put the pan under water. You can imagine the chemical reaction between hot oil and water. The flammes were up to the roof and that is on the 3rd floor, as the kitchen doesn't have an upper division.... :p

Hah, yeah, I'm fine, no burns. It happened in a split second when I ignited the hob; first my arm was on fire and I tried to beat it out, and then my other arm was on fire, so I took the dressing gown off and stamped on it.

Whoa, easy cowboy! When you say arms on fire that kind of makes it worse! It's like those stories of choking to death and being discovered 2 weeks later half eaten by the cat.
You keep that up and there won't be anything to erase soon.Just look what happened to poor Varla.
btw, what I was cooking is amazing. Cuban cure-all. I was really hungover, and it sorted me right out;

I can't find the exact video, but Nigella Lawson cooks it in her dressing gown too. She doesn't set on fire though.

I need to see the video. Especially if it involves nigella licking chocolate off a wooden spoon.
Did you know she's 50?! Doesn't look it. Vampire?

Ooooh, looks nice if the chorizo is taken out(not really into meat)! :)
Lady Nigella used to make me laugh so much whenever I caught her cooking on tv during my school years... :)
"This chocolate sauce is so smooth and silky... sometimes I sneak in here at night to have some!" (Fuzzy memory is just a demonstration of how one remembers the lady to talk about food)
I think she sets dudes on fire though so that is why her dressing gown(wasn't it always nice soft sweaters) never caught on fire. :flamesangry:
I actualy believe she is 50 because lady Weaver is 61.I will always fondly remember her fighting my beloved Aliens with much bravery.
I can confirm it's just as good without the chorizo. I had the leftovers last night without.
MvC2 and some soup :) And I'm actually getting pretty good at it too!

I'm glad you're fine.
So, you're getting a great chef? *Goes to monster hunter, fires the cats and hires soop instead* :D
Yep, I'm a pretty good cook!
I want to make a rhubarb pie/crumble. MMMMM, Rhubarb! DYK it's poisonous if you eat it raw?

I am pretty sure it is not a good idea to eat it raw!I am an ok cook too so we can open up a CAPCOM themed restaurant. Jill's sandwhiches/Cammy's special sauce/ El Fuerte's caliente fajitas! :p
I learned mostly from my mother and cooking for my dad in the 1st Summers I spent with him.
When are we coming over for brunch Soop?Just don't go crazy with the fireworks again please!I am sure background music will suffice.
I always liked baking, but I've only really been cooking for about 2 years - you can't really get nice pans etc if you have flatmates that mistreat them. But now it's just me and Don, I have all my ingredients and all my pots and pans and things!
I have a few friends that I talk to a lot about cooking. Actually, I know quite a few chefs around my town too.
But yeah, I love cooking. It's like art you can eat. Although I tend to make more of an effort when I cook for someone else.
Do you know what? The work canteen served up sausage with "bubble & squeak" today. It's not bubble and squeak, it's mash with a bit of cabbage in it . The FOOLS!

so are spuds :)
No they aren't! People used to think tomatoes were poisonous. But I think we've had that conversation.
*edit* seems I'm wrong, potatoes do contain a toxin... But I'm sure it's fine to eat a little raw potato. Unless it's green.

I thought they were? I know spuds and toms are part of the deadly nightshade family, and rhubarb is from the same genus as hemlock i think.
I know they used to call tomatoes 'devil's apples', never knew they were thought to be poisonous, but they can contribute to gout if you eat a lot of them.
I ammended my last post... umm I never heard of tomatoes contribiting to gout. Not sure how it could...

I think excessive eating of it, like port, can trigger it...

"Searches for meaning of gout" That sounds grim...
I am not sure how accurate it is but in history when we were covering the black plague, apparently people used to mostly just use potatoes to feed farm animals! It was like it was considered to be too grotesque to eat or something like that.
It's like putting a steak in a glass of Coka Cola and it is gone after a few hours.
I didn't even know you could "trigger a gout attack". All I know is that it's a build-up of uric acid in joints.
On another note, this was a good day:

It's the best paper!
Although apart from Saturdays, I tend to only get through the G2...
I don't read papers anymore. The news just makes me angry.
I am now of the opinion we should dissolve our parliament and make every single politician dance the Tyburn jig, then start democracy over again afresh.
That's why the G2 is so good! Not really news...
What's a tyburn jig?

Ah, well, the gallows tree where they hung most of London's criminals from Newgate Prison was known as the Tyburn gallows tree (located pretty much where Marble Arch is today). It was a triangular shaped gallows where they could hang three people at once - they used to hoist them up slowly until they were 30ft off the ground, at which point their legs used to kick about like they were dancing a jig - this got known as "dancing the tyburn jig"
Nasty!

Hanging gardens originated in Babylon with the famous wonder of the world, but they were build across the world as tourist destinations. Although popular for a while for family trips, the abolition of the death penalty left little else to do in the gardens and most closed.
