Hey,

Just providing some feedback on the Street Fighter IV Collectors Edition.

I bought the Australian version for $169.95 RRP and am sadly disappointed with it.

The game is excellent, no question there, but everything else in the collectors edition disappointment me. Im not saying others didnt really like it or not, I just thought some feedback from some random Australian might be in some way useful. If others liked it or loved it please chime in!

Anyway, I picked up the Collectors Edition today and I wasnt that impressed. It comes with a Hint Book that is tiny and smaller than the manual, I was expecting some sort of large hard cover book like the Blizzard Collectors edition normally would come with. The contents of the tips book is pretty lame too to be honest.

The bonus disk doesnt come with any packaging, just a clear plastic sleeve. I paid money for packaging damnit, if I just wanted to watch the Anime movie I would of torrented it. The fact its a Blu Ray disk is something I do like since I cant just simply get a copy of that as easily, but if I had the Xbox 360 version I imagine it would only be a DVD so, I would feel even more slighted.

The action figures are much smaller then I thought. Its a shame it was Ryu and some chick I didnt know, rather than the classic Ryu versus Bison or Ryu versus Saggat.

Overall the CE should have come with a sound track, a hard cover art book and a Making of DVD. What it came with was pretty lame IMO, and I feel a little ripped off. Especially when I compare it to what comes in other Collectors Edition for less than the $169.95 I paid for it.

Even the cover of the game doesnt say Collectors Edition anywhere, someone correct me if Im wrong but it just seems like the normal game included in there.

What I ended up doing was putting the Anime disk next to the Street Fighter IV disk and slipped in the tips booklet in side next to the manual, so all I have to show for my money is two small action figures and the normal disk. Just doesnt feel that impressive.

Anyway thats my feed back, the game is awesome btw, just the packaging Im complaining about.

I certainly wont be buying a Collectors Edition from Capcom again.

We got shafted with the PAL CE of DMC4 as well.

Just import from America next time. They arent region locked.

I really should of!

I bought Little Big Planet for PS3 from Hong Kong for various reasons, but none of the downloadable content works on it unless I have a HK user! The stuff available to download is so much worse then the Australian stuff with most of the free stuff not even appearing. So Ive been scared off of importing because of the PSN issues, what if the SFIV content wouldnt work?

Its like a gamble, it shits me up the wall.

I wonder if we will get shafted for the Resident Evil 5 CE as well?

Why does Capcom hate us? :(

The above is what we get. How crap is that, and its more expensive (and doubly expensive again if your Australian)! I feel so gyped!

It makes me want to nerd rage!

Why even release a collectors edition if your just going to screw over the people buying it? Capcom should just not release a CE outside of North America and Japan if they arent going to do it right. That way at least I know I should import it!

Even if I already opened it? And I have the redeem code that enables me to have the SFIV extra content too... if I returned it, I would still of seen and potentially used the code...

You can at least try. Its really not worth the money. The US version is just barely worth it because at least it presented like a CE. PAL is definitely not worth it.

EB has a 7 day return policy on games unless its PC I think.

I think youre almost over-reacting. The version I got had the CD stuck in a case, and its a DVD that outputs in high definition, for what its worth, not a DVD. The Collectors Edition was very sufficient and I think that youre being very melodramatic about things. Then again, were lucky we even got this edition in Australia - yet you still complain. I dont think your negative views are very justified.

Yes, Im from Australia too, and yes, I didnt think there was anything wrong with the CE. I also think that we should be thanking Capcom Europe for securing a deal with THQ so fast so that we still received the game on time - did you think about that?
We got shafted with the PAL CE of DMC4 as well.
That was more due to licensing issues than with anything else.

Not only are we getting what Europe gets, but we also get the US collectors edition available to us too (http://www.capcom-europe.com/forums.aspx?g=posts&t=2170). Considering this has not yet been announced for Europe, Id say were not being ignore by Capcom.

The issue with THQ is another matter altogether.

I asked many times here about the CE and the packaging, each time its avoided.

Had they confirmed it, I could have easily ordered the US version and payed the same price as buying from an AUS retailer or online shop.

If you want answers, go e-mail the PR department of Capcom. You wont get anywhere by complaining on the forums, unless you just want to demonize people.

Actually the PlayStation 3 version is in Blu Ray.

My issue is that most collectors editions come with Making of DVDs in cases, sound tracks in cases, posters, hard cover art books etc etc. I had no idea what was going to be in the Capcom Street Fighter IV Collectors edition, but I suspected it would be incredible because it was a pretty huge launch.

I got it, and was very much let down. If you think it was worth $169 then thats fine, as I stated in my original post I think feedback to CAPCOM is valuable, I dont know if they care or use it, but I thought I would offer them the service of what some random Australian thought hoping to provoke others into expressing there thoughts. If one person thinks something at least 100 others do as well.

Capcom had built up a good reputation in my mind, with brilliant games like Okami, Pheonix Wright etc, I figured much like Blizzard I could place trust in that if I bought $169 collectors edition I would be getting something good for my money.

Sure its naive, but its the goal of every company/artist is to get a trusting audience on brand alone. What Im saying is, I feel like they let me down and that trust is now damaged. If you value a company like Capcom just for giving you the privileged to give them money for a special edition, then thats cool - but I actually want something I perceive as value for money. Im of the view of do it right, or dont do it at all, at least me and at least 100 others wouldnt feel gyped and we would of known to just import the North American version.

Personally though, I dont know how anyone can see value in it. I could of bought the game for $100, so what did I get for the extra $70? A OVA that I could of bought separately with proper packaging for $30 and two happy meal toys.

I could of personally bought from a shop Ryu and Ken poseable action figures several inches tall plus the OVA in packaging for $70. Its a bit outrageous.

Edit: I sent an email to feedback@capcomeuro.com expressing my thoughts, who knows if anyone listens.

I was talking about the 360 version. You said wed be disappointed but I am certainly not with a DVD that is similar to a blu-ray anyway.

As for your complaints, theres not a lot I can do to remedy them, though I find it ironic to mention Okami and Phoeni Wright when neitehr had a collectors edition.

As for the Blizzard comment, I would never even dream of comparing Capcom to Blizzard but thats just me.

Yeah your right, I didnt realise the Xbox 360 disk wasnt a DVD and was basically on par with the Blu Ray disk.

In regards to Capcoms games like Okami and Phoenix Wright which has made me in turn trust the company.

I consider Capcom to be a far superior company to Blizzard because they have been known to innovate, whereas Blizzard tend to just refine pre-existing genres.

Blizzard bring out extremely polished games in tired old genres with an amazing level of playbility making them easy for users to get into. Blizzard very rarely have any true innovation even within the genre. They took the RTS, Dungeon Crawler and the MMO and made them amazingly friendly to get into and refined them to an amazing polish.

I found Okami, killer7, Viewtiful Joe, PN 03 and at least for a while Resident Evil to be highly innovative. But they also have there staple of Blizzard style highly polished genre titles like the Megaman series and Street Fighter series. I think a healthy balance for developers is important, Im not as much a fan of Blizzard because they only focus on the safe highly polished genre titles. I think with the amount of money they make they should experiment with innovative genres and ideas along side there staple of genre refining titles.

Id *always* rather play a flawed original game then a perfected unoriginal one. And I respect the companies that take risks and push those boundaries, Blizzard simply dont.

Edit: I concede CAPCOM also make a lot of badness too, whereas Blizzard never do. But I just respect innovation that much it covers for it.
