Eidos? Bleh. They have nothing of interest, IMO. Im disappointed that Square-Enix are going this route and not focusing on themselves instead. I just dont see them as the monopolizing type. The Enix merger was bad enough.

RIP Legacy of Kain. Absolutely enjoyed that franchise but the development team that handled the series was hit with some pretty rough setbacks (deaths and whanot). :(

Do you know who currently publishes SE and Eidos games in Europe? Think about it.

Are you talking about Silicon Knights or Crystal Dynamics?

Eidos publish quite a few games (even RE3 in Europe) and while that may be the case, I still dont find this to be a hugely warranted buyout. Maybe its because I have zero interest in Eidos, I dont know. However, Id rather see Square-Enix focus on themselves right now and ensuring that they can churn out quality titles as so far this generation, thats very much debatable. Im yet to be impressed and the possibility of Final Fantasy XIII being delayed because Dragon Quest IX itself was delayed, is hardly adding to their credibility.

Crystal Dynamics. Kyle Mannerberg who worked on Defiance as a designer died of natural causes. Then you have to note those who left by mutual consent (Amy Hennig among others).

Overall, its a shame that the team isnt as it was. I would have liked to have seen a new Legacy of Kain title. One was in development after Defiance but was cancelled.

I somewhat agree and the prospect of (even more) Western games coming from a Japanese publisher/developer is frightening. Do you have anything against Enix?

Then theres the death of Tony Jay (The Elder God).

If I remember rightly it was being developed by Ritual Entertainment, though I suspect that Crystal Dynamics did have a hand in its development somewhere along the line it makes me question both the quality of the finished game (that is, if it had it been finished) and how much dose Eidos care for the franchise (theyre not going to stop Crystal Dynamics devloping the Tomb Raider franchise now, are they). With no news about the continuation of the Legacy of Kain, except the news of the canceled The Dark Prophecy It seems that series is destined to a few noticable cameos in Tomb Raider, and that Raziel will be one with the spirit reaver forever more.

Looking at Square-Enix I would rather them concentrate on (finally) releasing the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII compilation, rather then purchasing other game studios.

I strongly agree with this. Weve seen that when Square-Enix turns its hand onto something a little more western it loses some of its quality, and instead they should stick to what they do best.
