Yeah so I've been a big fan of capcoms since the mega man days. I've bought over 40 games published by Capcom since I started gaming and I supported Capcom every step of the way until the HD generation.
I'm also a big Sony supporter and with Capcom releasing many great titles on the playstation brand it felt like a match made in heaven. Well that was until Microsoft stuck there nose into the bussiness.
Capcom yous can forget about me supporting yous ever again. The Resident evil 5 DLC will be the last thing I ever purchase from yous again. Some much for third party exclusivity being gone forever.
Keep supporting Microsoft and keep turning your back on Playstation owners who have been with you for years. Wheres our exclusive games. Wheres our exclusives prologues to a game thats going multiplat after being exclusive to microsoft.
Yous are trying to force your fans to fork out on other consols just so they get the best of being your fans well heres a counter measure. Screw everthing Capcom release everything fairly or don't release them at all.

Or we can look at this from a business standpoint and see why/how such questionable decisions were made and the benefit to Capcom as a business.
While I'm a PS3-only owner and have expressed disappointment where certain announcements are concerned (Dead Rising 2 prologue being 360-only is an example), there comes a time when the fanboy tinfoil hat has to come off so that you can think about why decisions like this were made.
Microsoft most likely brokered a deal with Capcom to ensure that the prologue is exclusive. This means added moolah for the company. They have nothing to lose for it and instead, have more to show for it financially.
In terms of Dead Rising, the fanbase is primarily on the 360 due to the first game being exclusive. Two plus two together does not equal five.
There could be countless reasons to explain why certain things were done but the decision was most likely based on what proves beneficial to Capcom as a company. They don't owe anyone anything.
Doesn't mean I'm happy that I'm being forced to miss out on certain things but hey, I still accept and understand it.

When someone refuses to buy into a company that does dirty buisness like Microsoft and chooses to stick with Companys they've been with for over 10 years, they are a fanboy?
You know there more than likely was a deal for the prologue episodes of Dead Rising 2 and a deal for the Monster Hunter MMO too. But what the hell happened to the so called NO EXCLUSIVE Policy they announced last year.
Your right thou, Capcom doesn't owe us anything and I don't owe them anything either and I've already bought Nintendo Gamecubes and Nintendo Wiis just so I could play select Capcom titles. But I won't give in to a company like Microsoft. If your loyal to someone but there not loyal back you don't continue your loyality.
Thats what its like with capcom. Us PS3 owners buy game after game only to have Microsoft get extra contents F. that man, I'm done with Capcom and yes this is a rant but it was also a rant when I said I wouldn't buy an Activision game last year when there CEO made those comments about pull PS3 support and guess what 8 months later and I still havn't purchased an Activision game

Maybe not, but referring to ordinary business as "dirty", makes it fanboyism.
You know there more than likely was a deal for the prologue episodes of Dead Rising 2 and a deal for the Monster Hunter MMO too. But what the hell happened to the so called NO EXCLUSIVE Policy they announced last year.
Policy? I doubt they made a hard agreement on the topic, business is fickle, if profit can be made then an assuming news story is completely outdated.

So purposefully limiting your options is "loyalty"? And you don't think that the games are good enough reason to buy a console, just attempts to buy in to Microsoft? You think about these things too much, why be loyal to big, faceless corperations when they don't really care about one person never buying their products again if they so much as mess up? You're the one whose going to be at lost when all the shiny titles roll by and you're refusing to buy them on a matter of principle.

That's just pathetic, I've been annoyed by actions of major companies before, but sitting out a one man vigil when others are enjoying genuinely good games is hardly going to stop companies doing what they do.
You don't have to buy any game, ever, by anyone, ever. But why would you? Because it's entertainment, it's fun and it's good, so what does it matter what the creator "has done"? There have been multiple works of genius in every media where the creator has done disrespectful and sick things, but that didn't stop certain works gaining a cult following, if you can't stand the creator, you owe it to yourself to appreciate the work, rather than whining about it on a forum and expecting someone to take notice when they aren't going to miss just one person.
I shall be enjoying Lost In Nightmares on Xbox360 tomorrow, why can't you?
Capcom is a multi-format publisher. I know that they try their best to ensure that quality titles are available on all possible systems.
Unfortunately, different content is available on different systems. That's just how it is. There are some systems I don't have which have some brilliant games on them which I'd love to play. But you gotta look at what you've got. Capcom have created some amazing games for the PlayStation 3.
The important thing is: are you having fun playing Capcom games on the PlayStation 3? If you can say yes to that question, I really don't see what the problem is.
It's just like when the Ps3 got exclsive
Batman AA
Lost planet 1
Mirrors Edge
C&C RA3
Star ocean
Bio Shock
Eternal Sonata content
I bet their are more as well
The only way to be a totally happy gamer is to be multi platform IMHO.
You name Microsoft as Evil but name me anther company that can match the millions they give to charity and research on human illness's ?
You seem to be biting you nose of to spite your face, all i can say is that it;s your loss.

Well yeah all but 2 of those games you mentioned released on the xbox 360 first and were ported over to the PS3 months later. Sony has a policy that if your going to port a game over to the PS3 after releasing it timed exclusive on another consol it needs extra content.
A lot of Xbox 360 owners got [No swearing please. TZM] with news like that too and have done simular things. Do I agree with Sonys policy? No and I definitly don't agree with multiplat titles getting extra content on a certain consol no matter which consol it is.
Also Microsoft released a consol that wasn't ready just to get ahead of its competition. Screwing half of its install base and yous don't think thats dirty buisness????? Yeah they've tryed to fix things but only after getting threatened with million dollar lawsuits.
This is a Capcom website. I'm an unhappy Capcom customer. I've been supporting Capcom for over 10 years. I'm not supporting Capcom after the RE5 DLC. I'm not cutting my nose off for anyone because theres 100s of other companys that support my consol of choice very fairly.
Capcoms already falling off compared to what they used to be. They have my reason for not supporting them anymore and I guarrantee theres others like me annoyed at this news too. I know 1 person doesn't make a differance but when Sales start getting less and less on the PS3 which they will if these exclusives continue then maybe they'll see why.
Gedd,
I'm sorry to read about your frustrations, we never make decisions such as these lightly. Furthermore we always have the consumer are the forefront of our minds.
The original Dead Rising was an X360 exclusive and we were therefore eager to please our existing fanbase, whilst still giving PS3 owners the opportunity to enjoy Dead Rising 2.
As some of the other members have pointed out, this certainly isn’t an industry first. I can't imagine we'll see Mario appearing on either the X360 or PS3 anytime soon......
Well yeah all but 2 of those games you mentioned released on the xbox 360 first and were ported over to the PS3 months later. Sony has a policy that if your going to port a game over to the PS3 after releasing it timed exclusive on another consol it needs extra content.
No they don't have a policy to have extra content that is down to the developer/publisher
A lot of Xbox 360 owners got [No swearing please. TZM] with news like that too and have done simular things. Do I agree with Sonys policy? No and I definitly don't agree with multiplat titles getting extra content on a certain consol no matter which consol it is.Why not it works on both ways. The thing is Sony is no longer willing to pay for it and Microsoft are. So who is really to blame?
Also Microsoft released a consol that wasn't ready just to get ahead of its competition. Screwing half of its install base and yous don't think thats dirty buisness????? Yeah they've tryed to fix things but only after getting threatened with million dollar lawsuits.Yes many people were angry with the 360 problems so MS extended the guarantee to 3 years for the RROD and E74 Sony haven't done anything about the YLOD which plagues the early PS3 and which means many people have lost their backwards compatibility including me.
Sony have been threatened with similar law suits to no avail.

Yes some games have not done well but many have and thats the same with any company
Sony still expect to get free exclusive stuff that they used to get in the Ps1 and Ps2 days but the competition is more intensive than before and If sony want some thing exclusive game or content they need to pay for it.

Sony has a policy that if your going to port a game over to the PS3 after releasing it timed exclusive on another consol it needs extra content.
So what's the difference here?
Why are you happy for Sony/Playstation fans to get extra content over Microsoft/360 fans?
Do you not think owners of the 360 originals feel a bit annoyed? That they feel they are missing out?
Could it not be argued that Sony are being greedy, or evil, by getting exclusive DLC?
I can understand that Geezers frustrations. I'm a 360 user myself and I'm so unhappy that the PS3 community got the RE5 Gold Ed. stuff on disc but the Xb 360 community didn't even after we were told we would. It looks like PS3 have there advantages and Xb 360 have their own advantages as well. Sometimes PS3 gets the better deal sometimes Xb 360 gets the better deal. Thats the way the business works.
At the end of the day sum of us will lose out to others and vice versa for one simple fact of life...MONEY! If I give you enough money you'll make that sumthing exclusive for me and thats it!
Theres no point telling us it pains you to make the decision, MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY, you're a business.
Yo Geez, just buy their games second-hand. I am until they make up for Gold Edition fiasco on the 360 :p (I wonder how long this stays uncensored) :thumb:
If you prick us, do we not bleed?
If you tickle us, do we not laugh?
If you poison us, do we not die?
And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?

The answer to that one is quite easy LT. We can't fit the extra missions plus game and costumes onto a DVD. Obviously with the larger BluRay we didn't have any problems.
A 2nd DVD with content on pushes up the price so that if you bought everything individually it would actually be cheaper than a copy of Gold Edition with 2 disks!

A few months back, a developer whose name I can't recall mentioned they (and most likely, other developers as well) have a reason for bringing out games on 360 first.
According to this guy, Sony's pretty much renown for their lack of support towards developers working on PS3 games. There's little to no money coming from Sony, and technical support's a big no-no as well.
If people develop a (timed) exclusive for the 360, however, Microsoft's glad to open up all supportive lines and pump in some cash as well. Especially if you're a developer based in Japan, considering how that's a market they're dying to win over.
Sadly, 360 games often end up selling like crap in Japan - leading to developers investing what little money they have left from Microsoft's funds to port the game over to PS3.

Thank you for the reply, you were the only person to address any of my whinging about this, nice  thanxs again.
I WOULD PAY EXTRA for two Discs :D:D:D
I like BOXES mmmmm STEEL BOOKS pls :) My only real problem was being... shall we say misinformed about what I was acutally voting for BOX or DLC.
Besides I broke my principles this morning anyway, I went down to buy a copy of Dark Void Second Hand of course and there it was Brand New for #17.99, I couldn't resist such a bargain lol practically half price a month or so after release. I'm a traitor to myself lol :)

No worries and thats what we're here for! If we can explain the reasons why we've done something it will hopefully make you feel less annoyed with us. !
We really wanted to have everything in the box as per the poll but can you imagine how much stick we'd get if we'd released a boxed copy of the Gold edition on 360 with a higher price than on the PS3 and more expensive than buying all the DLC individually?!
And good to hear that you broke your principles :D
wow wow wow, Capcom used their brains after the almighty PS2 (which was the ultimate winner of that generation thats was the reason why it getted so many games only the ps2 only) Gamecube and xbox generation, which means thirdparty is actually from nature on multiplatform.

Nice one dude! At the end of the day you have an ordinary edition 4 price whingers and a special edition two disker for me lol :thumb: Steelbook :)
As I've stated before if an original game is good enough and with extra content (included) in the later release I'll still buy it twice! Like I did with Fallout 3, bought once, bought the two add-on packs and then when it came out the Game of the year Edtion, all DLCs included two disc release.
You make it we'll buy it! But give me the choice to BUY IT! I'm happy to :) but not for a couple of codes though (RE 5 G.E.).

There is not that many as dedicated as you though LT!
What we might start doing is selling really limited edition versions of games through the website. That way you'll be happy as you'll be able to buy what you want at the same time we don't upset others.

Thats SUPERB, L.E.s from the website YES YES YES! :woohoo:
Steelbooks though lol no large stupid cardboard box thingies that don't fit on my shelf with my other games. Nah lets really get them angry, exclusive content heh heh heh
Theres probably more dedicated out there than you realise, I met plenty of people who are suckers for Limited Editions (Their Words) and plenty of people once they no about it would buy the L.E.s
GOOD IDEA! If I were your boss, I'd ave given you a payrise and an extra day off per week for gaming at home!
Sorry about the extra work T. At least one of us is happy at the possiblity :D:D:D

Release the Hounds! :high5:
So could we be seeing an online shop as part of this website? There's already one on Capcom US's website, but shipping to Great Britain is ridiculously expensive.
It would be great if we could buy games and merchandise without those horrible shipping charges. And I know I've said this countless times, but soundtracks please!!! Even if they're digital downloads, because it is really difficult to get hold of brilliant Capcom music legally outside of Japan.
(Yes, I know that there are a few soundtracks on iTunes, but the selection isn't that great...)
Anyway, I hope this website continues to improve over time. :D

Good Call. We'll probably set up a seperate thread on the website to ask what you want to see. But Ten has some great ideas for the website that we hope to roll out in the near future.
I will admit that a Capcom Europe shop isn't a completely new idea and it's not something we'd rule out ;)

Sounds good, if you need staff to help give me a shout, I used to send out 350 remote controls in two days for Cable and Wireless when I worked for them ;) Plus I really need a job lol  Super Admin skills as well

So it looks like Capcom has another failure on there hands with Lost Planet 2. The game sold about 280k across both the PS3 and Xbox 360 in its first week. A lot of people may think those numbers are good but really given the games budget and how games that usually sell that in there first week end up selling about 1 mil in a full year if lucky, then those sales ain't good.
Capcom you need to do something big to try win your fans back and something for us PS3 owners aswel because you've lost a lot of us
geddesmond, you're being a tad selfish. Capcom still have a huge fanbase and I'm pretty sure that only a small fraction of fans have stopped liking Capcom because they don't get what they want. Everyone makes mistakes, bad games(although I still refuse to believe that LP2 is bad) are made by every company at some point, but it's not a reason to turn your back on them.
Oi, adding more work for me like that?

Work we'd all appreciate very muchly though.:p

geddesmond2, I'd like to know where you got your numbers from. You can forget about bringing VG Chartz in to the equation as well. They're as reliable and as accurate as bringing a pea shooter to a gun fight.
http://www.nintendoeverything.com/40092/
Lost Planet 2 sold around 75,000+ copies on its first day in Japan alone.
Take in to consideration that this is just in Japan and that official release numbers have yet to be revealed for America, Europe and elsewhere, you're looking at way more than your 280k for an entire week across all regions and formats.
So I'd like to know what constitutes as a "failure" to you. Lost Planet 2 could be the game that shifts a lot of copies in a short space of time, or it could be the game that has legs and shifts a lot of copies over a long period of time.
Either way, it's hard to determine a failure unless;
A) the lifetime sales number is below the estimated forecast.
or
B) the initial sales/shipments aren't in line with expectations over the course of a few days or a week or a year (etc.) which could lead to (A).
But how are YOU to know what would constitute as a "failure"? Going by critical response doesn't float the boat either.
My interpretation is that you're trying too hard to grip on to the idea that Capcom fails for the reasons outlined in your original post. In my line of work, that's called trolling.

I just heard this music all the way through reading this...

Nice job Carbonox, while I appreciate that you're simply pointing this out for people unaware, the fact that it's gotten in to a matter of numbers and statistics irrelevant to the subject at hand just shows how pathetic the original argument has gotten.
I don't think people are thinking about sales and units sold as they are wandering in to the game store to buy a new title, nor are they mulling over it during a game, So what difference does it make? LP2 was released for both formats at exactly the same time, so regardless of whatever console it was bought for, the sales can pretty much go on a whole rather than needlessly dividing it and crying mutiny when one side apparently isn't doing so well.
I've not seen a question posed that couldn't be met with a reasonable answer here, so it's all just trolling.
geddesmond2, I am sorry that you can't sit down and enjoy a game, but feel the need to "martyr" yourself here.
You name Microsoft as Evil but name me anther company that can match the millions they give to charity and research on human illness's ?
I saw a docementry on TV, ages ago, that a poor school wrote a contract with Microsoft which ended that they had to pay more they thought from the begining. I think the contract was about software "windows" and the school had to pay for each new Windows that came in 10 years. But then again it was on TV, and TV can say what it will. Plus its the schools fault for not been to insighted on what they wrote about. Will post here a link to it if I found it.
I can understand the disappointment with PS3. It cost alot and you won't get a thing. Come on, a handcontrol that cost as much as a game?! Few good game. Failed applications. Webbrowser that makes PS 3 crash. A new controll which is a copy of Wiimote and looks like a sextoy for women. And I can make the list longer but stop here.
I have a PS3 and the only reason I bought it was for Super Street Fighter 4. It always wanted to play previous street fighter game but felt that they where too complicated.
By the way, has annyone manage to make Zangiefs Ultra with a PS3 control?
I have to know, will Capcom make Monster Hunter for Playstation 3? I wanted to get Monster Hunter but it was for Wii... If not, who should I write letter to for nagging about making Monster Hunter for PS3? I want to slay monsters on HD!
I just heard this music all the way through reading this...

Although I think this'd be better suited.

Why is it always the Irish lol :D Oops just realised I'm on page 4, Double oops thought this was a new Thread its actually an older one, sorry :noidea:
I think main thing to remember is that although Capcom isn't perfect, they try and give fun to as many people as possible, regardless of where they live or which platforms they have. If you feel dissatisfied, think about all the fun you've had playing these games. Of all the developers and publishers, Capcom is certainly one of the better ones. Also, the future is bound to have more goodness in store. And that is the truth of this matter.

I've been a Capcom fan for over 20 years now.
My love for them has never been stronger.
Tenebra has done a fantastic job with this community - I genuinely know (and in real life - like) some of them!!
The games are multiformat - as Capcom has always been a multiformat company - and they've released some real corkers in the last 12 months, that have me seriously considering not buying anyone elses games anymore!
Monster Hunter Tri, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Lost Planet 2, Super Street Fighter IV.. the list goes on..
This company are taking names and kicking ass - and Tenebra, you're standing at the front of the crew pounding one fist into the other :)
If you don't like Capcom games, or if you don't want to buy them anymore because you don't like a business decision - then don't bother buying them anymore, and please don't hang around here. This is a place for those who love Capcom. Period.

Hey I'm way past caring about what this thread was made for in the first place. I've made my piece and moved on. I still havn't bought a Capcom game thou but thats my choice.
Anyway I was over on the PS blog reading some comments about the Lost Planet 2 article and the distaste for capcom from other PS3 fanboys reminded me of this post. Then I seen the sales numbers on VG chartz, yes Carbonex VG chart who may not be completely accurate but there nearly always very close to actual sales numbers if not bang on but what can you do.
Oh and they havn't got Japanese numbers yet on VG chartz so I figured it didn't release there yet but hey 75K added onto the 280k across 2 platforms and your still at 355k first week which is still bad numbers. Also the second week sales are in for europe and america 43k for PS3 and 54k for Xbox 360.
Yeah the games really going to have legs and its 30 euros in HMV dublin thats at half price. Confirm that LT Jones
Anyway I thought I'd pop in here and give my opinion again on the situation in hopes that someone else at Capcom picks up on this issue. As Capcom fans you's don't have to like it and yous can defend and pretend everythings ok but really its not.
3 bombs on there hands and knowbody excited about Dead Rising 2. The funny thing about all yous peoples replies is I used to defend Capcom just like yous aswel lol for over 10 years and now look at me.
