View Full Version : Tatsunoko vs. Capcom - Wi-Fi Connection doesn't work

Hello,

whenever I want to start an online battle, a message comes up that says "Your internet connection has been lost" (or something among these words). But I can't really believe that my internet connection causes the problem since all other online features (browsing with the internet channel, downloading WiiWare and Virtual Console games and so on) work smoothly.

I am using a router. I already tried forwarding several ports and (after that didn't work) activating DMZ for my Wii, but I still cannot fight online.

Now comes the weird part: I managed to enter a free battle exactly once. And that was before I tried to improve my connection. The battle did have some lags, but it was far from unplayable (so the connection really can't be the problem, can it?).

Oh, and I am living in Germany, in case that is important.

Thanks in advance, I hope I didn't butcher the English language too much.

What type of router are you using?

Also what are the ports you have tried forwarding?

Thanks in advance, I hope I didn't butcher the English language too much.

No you did not, you speek/type very good english:)

I will look at your reply tomorrow and see if we can sort something out for you.

Is there an error code? If so, you might be able to get some help from Nintendo's website (http://www.nintendowifi.de/customersupport/SupportHome.jsp). There is a box on the right where you can type in the code.

I hope this problem gets sorted soon so that you can enjoy the game. :D

Thank you.:D

My router is a DSL-EasyBox A 601 by Arcor. The ports I tried forwarding were 28910, 29900, 29901 and 29920. But as I said, I also activated DMZ which, from what I understand, forwards all ports.

Is there an error code?
No, there is no error code. The message is in the same style as the messages that tell you about icons and ranks and so on. And it only tells me that my internet connection is lost, that losses of the connection will prevent me from online playing and that I should check my connection settings.

By the way, today I tried to enter a free battle again and it worked once more. But this time it really was unplayable because of the lags. We even got disconnected about twenty seconds into the fight. When I tried to enter another battle the above mentioned message appeared again.
For a moment I thought that my connection just was too slow, but as I said before, it worked once without serious lags.

I hope this problem gets sorted soon so that you can enjoy the game. :D
Well, I can enjoy the game. Just not online.^^

I considered this, but I have been waiting up to 10 minutes without result (so I supposed that it was an error message).

EDIT: I just tried it again, and it worked! O.o And there were no noticable lags at all! (And I lost. But hey, my opponent was an Ultra Master.)
After the fight I tried to start another one, and again, no connection. This time I waited for over 15 minutes. So, one battle a day, I guess...?

these are the ports I have found
TCP:
Allow traffic to all destinations on ports: 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443

Try adding 80 and 443 to the port forward list.

If that does not work I am slightly confused as all the help I can find is not in English and sadly I don't speak any other language.

If that fails you can try emailing Capcom support to see of they can help and the email is in my sig.

I had similar problems when i used Belkin router but now I use netgear and had no problems.

I added those ports and deactivated DMZ, because I thought that DMZ just opens all ports (which, as I found out, is wrong. It just deactivates the firewall). It did not work and this time I got an error code. I checked what it meant and found out, that I should deactivate my firewall and/or open several ports. (At this point I decided to check out what DMZ actually meant). So I reactivated DMZ and also changed the... uhm... enemy setting from domestic to world wide. (I considered that there might just be a lack of German TvC players.)

And it seems to work! :high5:

I don't know what exactly the crucial point has been, but I don't feel like trying out all possible combinations.

So thank you all for your help and patience! :)

I thought that DMZ just opens all ports (which, as I found out, is wrong. It just deactivates the firewall).
In most home routers DMZ and firewall are independent services.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demilitarized_zone_%28computing%29#DMZ_host

My PS3 is in the DMZ zone so that I don't have to open the ports when I buy a new game, but the firewall is activated at 100% to protect me from hackers. It works fine :)

But every router is a case, in my previous one (SMC) the games worked without having to configure the DMZ or disable the firewall. How i miss it :(

congratulations in making it work, enjoy your games ;)
